"Well Miss Yuki, I gladly return the sentiment." Jamie said, tipping an imaginary hat to her. "But Imma bartender, I just have one o' those faces. 'S a prerequisite, too many weepy drunks to 'ave a stony faced one." By this point with the heat working in the backseat, his hair had risen to his alleged afro state. And boy, was it fluffy. Like a small red sheep had flopped down on his head unexpectedly.

"That makes sense," Yukiko murmured, distracted by the sudden volumization of Jamie's hair. Her own brown locks were drying into loose, gravity defiant ringlets, but it was nowhere near as impressive as her companion's hair. "Wow, you weren't lying about the Afro..." She placed her fingers over her mouth, trying to as her amused grin. She swallowed, supressing a giggle.

Jamie's hand flew up to his hair and he groaned. "Fuuuuuuuuuuuck..." He pulled at the fluffy mass on his head in an attempted to straighten it, this only served to make it that much WORSE than before. Giving up, he attempted to glare up at his newfound 'fro in hatred.

This time she couldn't hold it in. One second she was smiling, the next her shoulders were shaking with silent laughter that quickly gave way to a flurry of giggles. Yukiko clamped on hand over her mouth, trying to muffle it. But her shoulders jut kept on shaking.
"I'm sorry," she squeaked through her giggles. "I shouldn't be laughing." But Jamie looked simply hilarious. Plus, his obvious distress over his hair was pretty funny as well.

Jamie rolled his eyes. "Yeah well I'm glad ONE of us finds this funny..." Better one than none, as his own saying went. "Hope yours turns into a beehive, Kid." He grinned, trying not to think of the disaster his hair had turned into.

In repsonse, Yukiko immediatly felt her own steadily curling hair. She didn't think it was capable of being a beehive (it wasn't THAT gravity defiant, at least not without hairspray), but it was certainly trying. At the moment it look like a giant fuzzy captepillar was trying to eat her head. Hopefully it wouldn't get any worse.
"Ah, what I wouldn't do for some Aqua Net," the Ookami said with sigh as she examined one of her various ringlets. She glanced over at her companion, smirking. "Though you probably need it more than I do."

Jamie was too busy laughing to try and come up with a response. Good god his stomach was gonna hurt SO much from all this.
Subtly and slightly, he car was imperceptibly swerving as a fit of giggles took over the driving detective as well. Certainly not enough to be a danger, but boy did they both look ridiculous.

"Maybe if we're lucky everyone will just assume we're trying to make a fashion statement," the Ookami murmured wistfully, know to hope for such a thing was pointless. No one in the right mind would purposefully make their hair look like this.
Yukiko ran her fingers through her hair, pulling out a few tangles in the process. The length had shortened drastically, as much of her hair was preoccupied with trying to reach the roof of the car. But, in spite of this, she laughed. It felt great to be able to giggle and smile right now, after having dealt with something so awful. It made it easier to avoid the situation, at least for a few minutes.

Jamie chuckled. "Yeah, if they're all dumber'n a box a' rocks. Considering it's a police station, I bet we'll get lucky with it." Okay, MAYBE he was trying to egg on the Detective in the front seat. Maybe. He was safe as long as Yuki was in the car. His 'fro was steadily growing, not quite reaching its critical mass just yet, but it was quickly approaching it. The Irishman could only hope that upon reaching it, the hair would flop back down into a stringy red mess. That would be INFINITELY preferable to this.

A few minutes ago Yukiko would have been nervously casting her gaze towards the Detective in the driver's seat after hearing such a jab. But now that she was completely slap-happy, she could only continue her giggle-fit, still trying fruitlessly to muffle the laughter with her hands. She was too distracted with this task to even think of a response. Perhaps all the laughter would earn her some bad karma down the road, but at the moment she couldn't have cared less.

The younger Ookami's giggling was infectious, and it wasn't long before Jamie's laughter picked back up again. He leaned against the door and window, as the seat wasn't doing nearly enough to help contain his laughter.
Detective Meyers tactfully turned on the radio.

"Ah, my stomach hurts." Yukiko's giggles faded a bit, giving her some time to breathe. Her gut was sore, and it'd probably only get worse later. Oh well, it was worth it. The Ookami hadn't laughed this hard in years. It felt... Nice. Really nice, actually. The green-eyed girl giggled a few more times, leaning back into the car seat with a cheery grin. "God, I forgot how nice it felt to laugh," she sighed contentedly.

Jamie seemed pretty surprised by Yuki's confession. "Seriously?" He asked, his own chuckles dieing off. "I can't imagine going a day without laughing over something." Generally himself, because face it, he was hilarious. One joke would knock 'em all dead. Even he was not immune to his own charms. "Glad ta remind ya 'bout it though." He continued with a smile.

"I just haven't had much to laugh about," she breathed softly, although she was still smiling. "Things have been rough since my dad left. It's taking me a bit to reclaim my optimism."
It was strange for Yukiko to be so non nonchalant about the subject. Normally she avoided mentioning her family dynamics. It had been like ripping open a wound, over and over again, refusing to let it heal. Now the memories were dull and numb, like an old scar; the source of which had long since been forgotten.

"Ah, sorta like when m' Gramps died." Jamie had long since moved on from his grandfather's passing, but he certainly remembered how losing him had felt. His parents hadn't been able to drag him out of his room for two weeks straight. "Get's a lot better after a lil while though, don't it?" The grin never even faltered on his face, typical Phoenix style right there.
