A hand was replaced on Yuki's shoulder as the Irishman started to steer her toward the woman in question. "We'll get right over, Officer." The man seemed to bluster something before returning his attention to the body in the alley.
Jamie kept his hand on Yuki's shoulder, hoping to try and keep her a little calm. "Ease up Kid, police ain't anythin' ta get the willies over." And with that the distance between the woman and them was closed.
"Good day," She said, an umbrella up and shielding her from the rain, as well as Yuki. Jamie was on the edge of the umbrella, and was thus getting the runoff from the top of it. "I'm Detective Meyers, can you tell me what happened here? Did you see anything? How did you stumble across the body?" She attempted to smile, but it came out looking strange on her face. Like she hadn't smiled in awhile. "Any information would be helpful."

Yukiko was beyond thankful for Jamie's presence. She was absolutely terrible with cops... Terrible. The Ookami swallowed, supressing the ineveitable stutters.
"We didn't really 'see' anything exactly," Yukiko answered quickly. "He was, um... Just sort of burried under a bunch of trash. And he sort of got... Well, unearthed, I guess." God, she was bad at this. "I think he- the body, I mean- has been there for awhile." Slowly but surely she was becoming more at ease and her steady air of calmness began to return, but only by a bit.

Jamie was beginning to get the feeling that he knew this woman from somewhere... He started to fill in any gaps Yuki might have missed. "We were looking for my shirt, it kinda got stolen off my back last night, and I sorta tripped over the guy's leg, decided to see what it was and voila, dead man a la stabbed carcass."
Detective Meyers nodded only slightly, tone icy as she addressed Jamie. "Your sense of humor hasn't improved much."
Okay, so he DID know her from somewhere, though who knew where that somewhere was...
"Thank you for your cooperation, I assume you've seen the news about bodies like these?" She continued as if her icy jab at Jamie had never occurred. "Over the past few weeks several bodies have turned up. The Momentum Tower, the Manor, and now here... Judging from the wounds and the method of disposal, we've come to conclude they're all by the same person..."
The bartender's eyes widened only slightly. He didn't watch the news much, but the body had been covered by several printings of the issue of the paper that had talked about that. Weird...

Yukiko was starting to get the feeling that she'd missed something between the other two, seeing as the detective seemed to be familiar with Jamie. However, that was overshadowed by another matter. All by the same person? Yukio couldn't help but marvel at that. Did that mean there was some sort of serial killer in Hatsu Itonami? The Ookami paled a bit at the thought. Honestly... She'd been at the Manor not too long ago. She could have been reduced to ribbons as easily as the poor guy she and Jamie had stumbled upon.

"So we've got a serial killer? The hell'd you tell us that for!?" Jamie half-yelled, the cold wet rain forgotten in his semi-rage. For christ's sake, hadn't she ever heard that ignorance was bliss!?
Detective Meyers continued to speak, obviously deciding that Jamie's anger wasn't anything to be too worried about. "Because I want you to understand the weight of the situation. Now if there's been anything suspicious that you've seen recently, anywhere at all in the locations I mentioned to you, that would be a big help. We can't find many leads at all, no one's seen anyone around the bodies, and we've checked around to see who has any weapons in town that fit with the M.O. of the killer. So far-"
"So far the PD's been doin' a real shitty job of keepin' the city safe. We know 'bout all that. Ain't anythin' new." Either the redhead was trying to get his head bitten off, or he was goading the officer. Either way, not a very smart move... Although it could have just been one of his personality quirks.
It certainly earned him a slap on the face. "I COULD take you down to the station for that one, Phoenix." She hissed at him. "So either stay civil or just keep your damn mouth SHUT."

"Um, Jamie," Yukiko murmured sheepishly, "maybe you shouldn't argue with her. She has handcuffs..." She sounded apprehensive, but not for that particular reason. Why the detective lady had asked about anything odd or suspicious, the Ookami had immediately thought to the all the "interesting" encounters she seemed to be having recently... Meeting Akio in the cemetery, the masked guy she'd met at the Manor...
Should she mention them? Yukiko bit her lip, deciding no, she wouldn't say anything. As little as she knew them, those people had been kind to her, so she didn't want to do what, in her mind, would be betraying them... Besides, they couldn't have done anything like this...

Jamie just smirked, NOW he remembered who she was. "Handcuffs? Kinky." This earned him yet another slap, considerably harder than the first. Yep, DEFINITELY an ex.
"I'm not willing to play games here, Phoenix. Just listen to your lady friend and keep quiet." Detective Meyers' glare was turned up full-blast, and Jamie rolled his eyes. A sign of finally backing down.
Meyers took a breath to compose herself. "Alright, so nothing suspicious other than our John Doe in the alley then?" She glanced back and forth between the pair of Ookamis.

"Nope. Nothing whatsoever. Sorry..." Yukiko was a bit flustered by all the slapping. Apparently these two knew each other, and not in a positive way... At least from Detective Meyers's perspective. "Like I said, the body's probably been here for awhile... Right?" She looked to her clanmate for confirmation.

Detective Meyers shrugged. "Until the forensics team gets here we can't be sure. Probably, though..." She sighed. "And as much as I hate to say it, I'm going to have to ask both of you to come back to the station for a little while. Just so we can get an official statement. Just regulation mind you, no reason to be worried." Unless one was Jamie, in which case the boredom would get to him and he'd pester the detective until her ears fell off. She'd have to kick the crap out of him for it.
Unfortunately for her, that was exactly what the redhead had in mind. "Yeah, great. Can I get a shirt or something?" He decided that a shirt was the first thing that needed to be taken care of.
"At the station. We'll get you a spare from somewhere. God knows I don't want to look at you any longer than I have to." Her eyes were narrowed to slits.
"You KNOW you want me~" The Ookami persisted, smirking and posing slightly. He was smacked over the head this time. Three strikes. Next would be a kick to the groin... He decided to shut up.

Let's try not to antagonize eachother please." The Ookami was a bit confuses by the sudden change in mood. Clearly she had missed something. Yukiko smiled meekly, trying to smooth things over. "I think one dead body is enough for now, don't you?"

Both sides glared at each other, then glanced to the side. They said nothing, a ceasefire was now in place. The detective sighed. "Alright. Get into the car, both of you. I'll drive us to the station. Don't drip on the seats."
A mock salute was given by the Irishman before he opened one of the doors for Yuki. "Ladies first, yeah?" He grinned, hopefully the Kid would just wind up relaxing.

"Thanks." Yukiko smiled sweetly (a genuine smile this time, not a nervous one) and slid into the car, her damp clothes clinging to her skin as she leaned into the not-so-comfortable seat. Despite having her hood up her hair was wet too; random strands stuck to her face like trails of ivy across old bricks. Her normally pale cheeks were flushed from the chilly air and she undoubtedly looked a mess, although that was the least of her concerns.
"To think the most important thing I had on my mind when I left the house this morning was what I wanted for lunch." There was some humor in that statement, along with just a sprinkle of melodrama. Yukiko was slowly winding down, but, as always, it was a lengthy process.

Jamie chuckled as he got into the car as well, sopping wet and dripping all over the seats. At least it would be warmer in here though. "Life's funny like that. Sends you screwballs when you ya REALLY don't need them." He slammed his fist into his opposite palm for emphasis. "I'm sure we can snag donuts at the station or something. Don't all cops eat donuts?"
Detective Meyers had to restrain herself from jabbing at him with her umbrella. The fact that she was driving didn't seem all that important to her.

"Yeah," Yukiko smirked, "donuts and coffee. I'd kill for a crispy creme right now." She winced, flashing a momentary grimance. "Oh, poor choice of words. Sorry." Absentmindedly, she flicked some stray strands of hair out of her face, but they were stubborn and refused to leave their place on her cheeks.
"Stupid hair turns into seaweed when it gets wet," she grumbled. In truth she really wasn't that frustrated about it, Yukiko just wanted something else to pin the day's negative turn out on. And her hair certainly couldn't complain if she did.

"Feh, you think THAT'S bad?" Jamie asked, chuckling and pointing to his own hair. "Gimme ten minutes and I'll have an Afro." If one looked close enough, they could actually see it starting. Just another reason why he hated the rain, killed his style with its evil ways and drippiness. To hell with humidity. The eighties needed to STAY gone, dammit.
