Yukiko jumped back a good foot, clutching her hands nervously to her chest as she peered over Jamie's shoulder. She was a little embarrased, hiding behind him like that, but her nerves were rapidly getting the best of her.
"What... is that?" Her voice was a soft squeak and her sharp green eyes seemed to be twice their normal size.

Jamie followed Yuki's line of sight and stiffened slightly. "Not sure..." He said, taking a step closer and crouching down. "But if this is what I tripped over, I have an idea." And it whatever it was couldn't be good. "Yuki, close your eyes." The redhead warned her before he grabbed a few of the garbage bags and moved them aside, revealing a slashed up body. The marred face was nigh unrecognizable, the teeth were smashed out, and it had clearly been here for awhile judging from the level of decomposition.
The elder Ookami felt bile rising in his throat and choked it back down. Now wasn't the time. he brushed off a few more of the papers and moved a few more bags, trying to see the extent of the damage. The man's shirt had been slashed open, and there were gouges in his chest. Three fingers on the right hand had been hacked off, and the pads of his fingers had been sliced clean away. Whoever had done this was probably covering their tracks pretty well, not that Jamie would know... "Oh fuck..." He breathed, getting back onto his feet shakily. "Kid, call the cops. Now. Right now."

At first Yuki had listened when the Irishman had told her to close her eyes, but curiousity had gotten the better of her and she hadn't ended up staring at the multilated body through her fingers. Surprisngly she didn't feel any horror or disgust, only a numb sense of detachment.
It took her a minute to process what Jamie was saying, but by time her brain was ready to respond she realized she had already whipped out her cellphone and dialed 911. Her heartbeat echoed in her ears and several "oh my gods" escaped her lips while she listened to the dial tone. When someone finally answered, it seemed as though she had forgotten how to speak.
"Uh, yes, hi... There's a body here... I think he's been murdered." Yukiko's voice was level and strangely calm while she gave the 911 operator their location, although her skiddish posture indicated her anxeity. She closed her eyes after hanging up, taking a few deep breaths before speaking again.
"The cops are on their way. What should we do...?" The Ookami turned to Jamie, eyes wary with uncertainty.

Jamie was feeling rather numb by this point, a bit of rage at whoever had done this sprinkled in and set to simmer. "I don't know... wait an' keep th' rats away." He punctuated this by delivering a swift kick to one of the large black rodents, sending it back down the alley and then scuttling for cover. "And try not to fuck up the crime scene any more, I guess."

Yukiko nodded briskly. "Makes sense." She shivered and crossed her arms firmly over her chest. The cold hadn't bothered her before but for some reason it was really starting to sink in. Ignoring the all the dirt and grime, the Ookami sat down at the oppisite end of the alleyway, unable to stand with her shaking legs. She rested her head in her lap, still trying to ignore the situation.
"Who could have done something like this?" Not that she really wanted an answer, but the question had to be asked.

Jamie took one glance at Yuki and sighed, moving over and sitting next to her. "Some messed up fuckhead with no morals, or a guy with a serious bone to pick with our John Doe over there..." He patted the teen's shoulder as an afterthought, still trying to come to grips with the situation himself.

Yukiko supressed a shudder. She'd managed to avoid getting a detailed look at the body but even from where she was sitting it looked gruesome. Although she normallly dealt with confusing situations by hiding deep inside the recesses of her psyche, the Ookami found herself leaning into her clanmate, trying to take the slightest bit of comfort in his presence. Doubtless this would've been a lot harder to deal with if she had been by herself.

Jamie gave his clanmate a one-armed hug, trying to lend a little more comfort to the girl. She shouldn't have seen this. She really really shouldn't have. "Kid, why don't you get some air, walk around a little. Get a cuppa coffee. Come back in ten minutes when you hear the sirens." Really, distancing her from the body was probably for the best, of course, he didn't really know the kid's psyche as well as she surely did.

Yukiko fiddled nervously with hem of her hoodie, unsure of what to do. Jamie was right, it would probably be good for her to take a breather, even if for a just a few minutes. Still, she didn't want to leave her clanmate by himself... at least that's what she told herself. In truth she was just entranced by the entire situation; her mind was transfixed on the obscured body and the grimey alley walls. She wasn't sure if she could tear herself out of such a daze.
After a minute, the Ookami nodded. She would just go for a few minutes, although even the thought of drinks made her stomach flip-flop. She wasn't sure if she could keep any form of nourishment inside her, especially with that smell that was starting to fill her nose...
"I'll be back in a few minutes..." Yukiko murmured calmly, shakily getting to her feet. She swallowed and exited that alley, barely making it to the nearest street corner before she had to sit down again. Only now did the full weight of what had happened sink in. Yukiko supressed the urge to gag, distracting herself by observing the ever-darkening clouds above. There was a low, deep rumble of thunder. Apparently it was going to rain afterall...

Jamie watched her go, just to be sure she left alright, then he returned his attention to the body across from him. His thoughts slowly drifting to a darker and darker place, it took the rumble of thunder to jolt him out of that and into his knee-jerk fist-shaking routine for when he heard thunder.
Fuck you, sky! Fuck you!!
The Irishman slumped against the filthy wall of the alley as the drizzle began. before long it would turn into a downpour, he knew it would. "Bloody brilliant." He muttered to himself. Hopefully the cops would get here soon, they'd have an umbrella.

It was only after it started raining that Yukiko got to her feet and pulled up her hood. She usually didn't mind storms so much (in fact she rather liked them), but for some reason the Ookami found herself wanting an umbrella... Or at least one of those plastic ponchos. Anything to keep the rain off of her.
After discovering some loose change in her pockets, Yukiko shuffled over to a nearby vending machine. She had about three dollars in chnage on her, just enough for a pair of drinks... although she still wasn't sure if she would be able to ingest anything. Thankfully the machine offered warm beverages alongside cold ones, so Yukiko made sure to get two of those. Afterwards, Ookami girl made her way back to he alley, less daunted by the task than she thought she would be.
"Here." Yukiko held one of the still-toasty beverages out to Jamie. She had returned back to her calm, semi-numb state. "You must be freezing."

Jamie took the drink gratefully. "Drinking chocolate. Good pick." He took a long drink from it, indeed feeling frozen. The hot liquid did just the trick, rushing through his innards and warming him throughout. He didn't stop for breath until the drink was three-quarters gone. "Thanks, Kid." He said, wiping away the chocolate mustache he had acquired.
It wasn't too much longer before the man started hearing sirens. "Ah... think these are our boys in blue..." He said to the teen as he attempted to look out at the street from where he sat without breaking his neck.

Yukiko followed Jamie's line of vision and stiffened. She really did feel glad that the police had finally shown up; anxiety was an automatic reaction. Cops had always made her nervous. Still, a grateful "Thank God" made it's way past her lips and she quickly got to feet, unsure of what to do next.

Jamie got to his feet and downed the rest of his drink as a couple of cars pulled up to investigate the scene. A large-ish man with a busy mustache stepped forward, his badge out on his chest while a few others started reeling out some yellow police tape. "Alright, both of you need to move." The man said, then pointed to a younger-looking woman with a sharp noise and sharper eyes that stood by one of the cars. "Detective Myers wants to talk with you as witnesses. That alright?"
The Irishman glanced to his companion, it wasn't as if they had much of a choice, and for the moment he was Yuki's self-appointed protector (even though he was probably doing a piss-poor job of it). So that meant he wasn't about to leave her alone amongst cops. Not after how she had tensed up.

Yukiko replied softly, having trouble keeping eye contact. "Uh, y-y-yes, Sir." And there was the stutter. Damn it. Damn it straight to hell. Why did she always do this when she got nervous? It made her look pathetic! And it probably didn't help that the last time she'd been in contact with the police, she'd been a ten year old girl watching her dad getting busted for assault... Or something of the sort. Either way it hadn't been pleasant.
