Kage stumbled into the hospital, still managing to carry Tekka without much of an issue. The issue was in how much blood he was losing. It was hard to believe that just one punch had caused that much damage to the giant's face. His entire cheek had sunken in, and a quick touch to his temple revealed it to be rather soft. The huge Tora found himself wondering if the eye on that side was bulging or swollen shut. Either way, he couldn't see out of it. Breathing through that nostril was also difficult, and Kage's jaw would not stop hurting.

By the time the pair had gotten through the doors, Tekka had regained enough wherewithal to get out of Kage's arms and to help him. He was definitely hurt bad and Tekka had only gotten a scrape or two. She hurried forward, talking hurriedly with the woman at the front desk before a few nurses came out to take Kage up to a room. Tekka rushed after Kage, not wanting to leave him. Not now. Not when she might be able to help.

The next Kage knew, he was already in a bed. He hadn't really cared to get himself treated; all he wanted to do was make sure his friends were okay. The giant Tora turned his head, a simultaneous attempt to hide the mangled part of his face and to find out where Tekka was. He could swear he had been carrying her when he had walked in, but now she was nowhere to be found.

Tekka had stepped out for a bit to put a few band aids on her cuts, they were neither deep nor very wide, so she was fine without any sort of treatment. Besides, she thought the one on the lower part of her cheek made her look kinda cool. She came back into the room quickly enough, but not fast enough to have made Kage not-worry apparently. She hurried over to his bedside and smiled wryly. "Looks like my brother did a number on just about everyone but me..." It wasn't fair.

Kage turned his head the other way tentatively, quite hesitant to let his girlfriend see how badly he was damaged. He gave his own smile, a warped expression that was literally a half-smile.
"He didn't do a number on me, hun," the giant replied. "He wrote a fucking equation on one side of my face." The words came out slurred and a little muffled, and some blood was let out at the limp half of his mouth's movement.

Tekka winced guiltily and took a tissue to wipe away the blood. "Sounds about right." She clutched at his hand. "They'll fix ya up, no problem." She smiled at him, feeling like crying. She let out a sigh. "You're gonna be fine." And this was in no way an empty promise, she had managed to get it arranged thanks to her father being in the government.

Kage squeezed Tekka's hand, but opted out of trying to smile or wink at her. Smiling would only be disturbing to look at, and he didn't quite know what his other eye looked like, so he didn't want to close his functioning one.
"Of course I'll be fine," the giant managed, speaking out of the good corner of his mouth. "You haven't left my side, and that's the best of omens, right there." As an afterthought, Kage turned the bad side of his face away from Tekka a little. "Um, not that I'm asking to look any more than you have to, but... what's the eye look like? I can't open or close it, let alone see out of it."

Tekka glanced over to the eye and then back to the one that Kage could actually see out of, she looked worried. She didn't want to lie to him, but it really didn't look too good. "It doesn't look very promising," She said, "it's bleeding and swollen shut, so I can't get a very good look at it..." She doubted he could see out of it even if the swelling went down and a wave of guilt washed over her.

Kage turned his face even more, so that the ruined side wouldn't be as visible by Tekka. He squeezed her hand again, wishing he could grin and joke and make that awful guilty face go away. In the end, the giant decided on a simple question.
"Why are you looking at me as if this is your fault?" he asked, sounding serious, but not severe. "You're not Aiden, and he's already paid his price for the harm he's caused." Kage hoped he didn't make Tekka feel bad, but he just couldn't stand seeing his beloved like that.

"Sure, he's paid, but that doesn't heal your face or Ru-ru's wrist, it doesn't make Jack feel any better, or Madoka go any less shattered-on-the-inside either..." She sighed. "It's not my fault for Aiden being insane and going ballistic, I know, but it IS my fault for dragging you into this." She bit her lip and squeezed Kage's hand tighter.

"You act as though I'd have it some other way," remarked Kage, running his thumb gently over Tekka's knuckles. "Listen, Tekka. I'm sure the image of my face in its current state has been burned into your brain, and will stay as such for years to come. You now know but a fraction of what I'll go through to keep you safe, my love." The giant didn't care if he had to talk until the other half of his face fell apart; he'd spill out the truth until he was dead if it would help Tekka feel better.

Tekka was both comforted and a bit frightened. She wasn't sure why she was scared, but she was pretty sure it had something to do with the sheer scope. The thief was fifteen, not even an adult yet, she supposed it was probably normal. The young Tora took a deep breath and smiled at him. "Just don't you dare think of leaving me, even if you think it might be 'for my own good' or 'to protect me', alright?"

Kage rolled his good eye and again resisted the urge to grin. Seriously, the doctor better hurry up and fix the giant's face. He couldn't take being unable to smile at his girlfriend much more.
"And leave you alone to get hurt in some other way?" asked Kage. "You might as well be asking me to stop loving you... or breathing... I suppose it's six of one, half-dozen of the other, seeing as they both sorta naturally occur." The older Tora wasn't quite sure where his girlfriend made the connection between leaving her and protecting her. The two seemed about as compatible as vampires and sunlight.

Tekka simply smiled in response, unable to stay sad for too long around her boyfriend. She was mulling over her response where there was a knock at the door. She glanced over to see a woman in a white doctor's coat step in with a smile.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything, I'm Dr. Saito." The doctor introduced herself, stepping over quietly.

Kage overthought Dr. Saito's question, which wasn't abnorma. He considered it a loaded question. If he were to answer yes, she might leave, and thus it would be longer before he could smile at Tekka again. If he answered no, Tekka might misconstrue it and be offended. Of course, the logical side of the giant's brain urged to consider the fact that Tekka would not likely be easy to offend, but it didn't stop Kage from keeping silent and simply turning to face the doctor. He'd let his girlfriend answer this one. Yeah, that was the safe option.
