Kage placed a hand on Tekka's shoulder, being unable to say anything to make the gesture more effective. Their reactions (had the giant not been so focused on not scaring the shit out of his girlfriend) were pretty much identical, an occurence that was by this time natural. After several moments of contemplation, the older Tora spoke.
"There isn't another option, really, is there?" asked Kage, his words still mushy and slurred. Dr. Saito shook her head solemnly.
"Because we were unable to see any part of your face's left side," explained the doctor. "we don't know if there are any bone fragments that could potentially become lodged in vital places, such as the brain. As for the eye, we've already determined that it is too damaged to function again. Keeping it there only increases the risk of infection, which could cause you to go totally blind." It was apparent that Kage was not really the target of this speech. Dr. Saito was speaking to him, yes, but she was administering the information so that it would be picked up by Tekka. This would hopefully give her a little more assurance.

Tekka managed to calm herself as the doctor talked, her mind beginning to realize that there really wasn't any other choice. Nothing else would be possible if Kage was going to be alright. Tekka nodded at the Doctors words. "S-so..." She managed. "How soon can this be done?" Be brave. She told herself. Be brave for Kage.
Doctor Saito turned to Tekka. "It can be done immediately, we have enough staff on call to do it." She looked over to the injured Tora. "That is, if Mr. Jernus agrees to it."

Kage nodded, badly wishing to be able to make a joke in spite of himself. Sadly, it would have required more use of his voice and face than he could muster (without being disturbing, at least), so a nod was all the giant put forth for an answer. At least Tekka had calmed down some. Knowing she was okay made it a lot easier to agree to something like getting half a metal face.

Dr. Saito nodded. "Alright then, Mr. Jernus, if you'll follow me to the operating room we can get this done a soon as possible." She beckoned the Tora forward and Tekka blinked.
"Ma'am, what about me?" She pointed to herself to emphasize the fact. What was she going to do while Kage was in surgery? Hospitals freaked her out when she didn't have someone with her. they were far to sterile and they reminded her of an asylum.
The doctor looked at her. "You'll have to stay in the waiting room, only doctors are allowed in for the surgery." The little thief's face fell.

"If I may try something," fumbled Kage, taking the coin out of his pocket again. He got close enough to Tekka so that she'd be able to focus on it (not that she'd have much trouble doing so; it was kept meticulously clean and shiny), and the giant began to spin the silver piece back and forth along his knuckles. If this worked, and Kage hoped to the High Potato it would, the little Tora would be susceptible to hypnosis, and could therefore be lulled into a calmer state while Kage got the procedure.

Tekka watched the silver metal glint and gleam as it moved. She was unable to look away and slowly felt herself slipping into a daze... It was just so pretty...

"You should get some rest, Tekka," said Kage when he noticed that his girlfriend's eyes had gone out of focus. He felt a sense of impending doom, indicating the guilt he'd feel for hypnotizing Tekka later, but the giant would sooner temporarily manipulate her mind than allow her to worry herself over him. "You've had a rough night. I'll be fine, so you can just stay in the waiting room and nap a little. It'll be just like sleeping in that big fluffy recliner in the HQ that you love so much, and the next thing you know, I'll have had the procedure done and be as good as new." There was always the chance that Tekka was only hypnotized by the luster of the coin, and not by Kage's unnatural knack for exploiting the suggestibility of the human mind, but that was a chance that was best taken, given the circumstance.

Tekka nodded blearily. "Sleep..." She murmured to herself, eyes drifting shut on their own. "An' you'll be be'er when ah wake up?" She slurred, wanting for that part to be right so very very badly. "Promise?"

"I promise," answered Kage, wanting so badly to smile at Tekka at this point. Instead, he put the coin away and took his girlfriend's hand, squeezing it gently before uprighting himself and turning back to the doctor. "All right, let's get this over with."

Tekka nodded vaguely. Everything was fuzzy. What was she doing? Sleep, right? But not here... a recliner? A chair... then sleep...
Dr. Saito stood blinking at the sight and shook herself out of the astonishment when Kage stood up. She gave a quick nod. "This way, I'll be sure Ms. King arrives in the waiting room safetly after I get you situated." Aside from that, she was almost positive that splitting Tekka from Kage might result in a few adverse effects judging by the way the younger Tora was clutching at the injured man's hand.

Kage looked from the doctor to Tekka, and back to the doctor. After a moment or two, he reluctantly let go of his girlfriend's hand.
"Lead the way, Doc," he said. The giant had literally never been in a hospital before. There was a guy that Kage and the White Brothers went to when they got sick or injured; they hadn't trusted the hospital to keep them safe from the government.

Dr. Saito nodded and led the pair to the operating room where a gaggle of surgeons stood within. "Mr. Jernus, simply head in there, they'll get you prepped and ready to go." She then looked to Tekka. "Ms. King, I'll take you to the waiting room. It's not far." Indeed, the room in question was just a hall away.

With one last look (and a gulp that Kage waited until Tekka was definitely out of earshot to let out; he didn't need to risk her worrying, even under hypnosis), the giant followed the group of surgeons toward the operating room, where he soon found himself dressed for surgery and on the operating table.
Thank the High Potato for sedatives... thought the Tora as said chemicals caused him to go drifting off into the cool darkness of unconsciousness.

The young Tora slipped into a hazy sleep as soon as she sat in a chair. Tekka curled up, eyes slipping shut and breathing leveling out.
Dr. Saito sighed and headed out of the door, instructing a security guard to watch the girl while she slept. After all, it would be terrible if anything happened to her while in neutral territory.

"Mr. Jernus, can you hear me?" said a male voice. "Please nod if you can." Kage blinked a couple of times, trying to get the fog out of his mind. He found enough energy to nod as the colors swirled in front of his eye(s?). Said colors soon took the shape of the operating room, and the center of the giant's field of vision was occupied by the face of a man who was likely in his late twenties or early thirties. "Good, so we've managed to keep your hearing intact. Can you speak?" The enormous Tora tried, but was unable to. The only thing holding off the panicky thought of being mute was the faintest sound of a whisper. "Don't worry," said the doctor. "Your speech will return shortly. The surgery was a success, it seems, so we're going to move you back into your room." The doctor kept talking, but Kage's mind became less focused on his words and more focused on how long it had taken. It felt like it had been hours, which was likely how long it actually had been. The next thing the giant knew, he was on a stretcher, being wheeled into the waiting room. He could see Tekka, who was still asleep in a chair, and managed to whisper her name as the person pushing the stretcher stopped near her.
