Aiden had always been drawn to the roof of the school. It was typically devoid of life, open, spacious, and you could always feel a breeze even on the hottest and most humid days of the summer. Besides that, he liked playing the saxophone up there, the sound carried nicely and with the sun setting over the over the water of the beach so far away it cast a glow on the roof that was simply spectacular.
And none of cost so much as a dime. Aiden played his instrument, a lovely tenor sax, with as much experience as a professional, though many people didn't see the brawler as much of a musician. Well, there was something to be said for first impressions...

Hotaru had found herself walking passed the school to stop and hear something: music, and great music at that. Curious as to where it was coming from, the redhead entered the school and followed the sound, surprised to eventually hear it coming from the roof of all places.
The Tora opened the door that lead to the roof only an inch or two before stopping. Aiden? He was the one playing that beautiful music? Him?
The redhead tried not to make a sound as she kept the door cracked just enough to listen to him, making sure she stayed on the other side of the door so not to give him any reason to stop. She questioned her sanity on staying, considering her past experiences with Jack's older brother weren't all too fun and all, but she still stayed there, just keeping her distance.

It was a few moments before the song came to a close, the last few notes fading into the cooling air that arrived with sunset. Aiden took a deep breath of air, liking the feeling of peace that came with this time of day. The moments before nightfall were nice, the moments before sunrise were nicer though, less activity.
He turned his gaze to the door. He had caught a glimpse of red hair and pale skin, and he had a fairly good idea of who it was. Still, he for once didn't feel the all encompassing desire to rend flesh from bone in a violent manner. Rooftops and playing music both had that effect on him and so he typically came here when feeling particularly stressed.
"You can come out." He said calmly. His voice was almost soft. "I'm not going to hurt you now." He couldn't guarantee what would happen after the night was over though. Calm only lasted so long.

Hotaru hesitated when she heard him call her out. Well... he seemed calm... maybe now could be a good chance to talk to him?
The redhead opened the door completely, taking only a few steps toward him. She didn't want to risk getting too close to him, at least not yet anyway.
"Does music run in the family?" she asked him, truly curious. "There's Jack with the piano, then you... you sounded really good." she meant every word she said, it wasn't just her trying to get on his good side. He could really play.

"Thank you." He replied, the manners his mother instilled in him so long ago finally surfacing after years of being buried. "And yes, it does. Everyone in my family except Tekka could pick up an instrument right now and play it. Pretty well too." It was true, his father could play guitar, Jack had the piano, he himself had a few saxophones and the violin, and his mother had been capable of the flute and the harp before her death.
He quirked a brow. "What exactly are you doing here, Hotaru?" He asked, fingering the keys and their buttons absentmindedly.

The redhead froze a little at his question. Why was she here? "Well, I could hear you playing when I was walking by the school, so I wanted to know where it was coming from." she explained.
She took a deep breath for her next statement. "That and I was wondering if I could have a mature talk with you if you're up for it." she didn't look mad or annoyed(the two main emotions that would surface when normally talking to Aiden). She looked determined for something. She wanted to take this problem out of her life without violence. If there was anyway she could befriend him, or at the very least to where he didn't want to rip her to shreds just by looking at her, she wanted to try.

"I thought we were already having one..." He trailed off, giving a shrug. "You've caught me at a good enough time as any I guess, go for it. In my experience, looking for someone to have a conversation typically involves a lot of questions and I guess you'd probably have some." He held out an outstretched palm. "So go ahead."

Right," she began. "well, first I'd like to know why you hate me so much?" she asked. "I know the obvious reasons behind it... but have you ever once considered that I might be a different person than I was in my old gang?"
She thought for a moment. "Like at Freed's. Do you honestly think the old Hotaru Megumi would be there begging for you to stop fighting and hurting people?" It was a huge point, now that she thought about it more. Back then, Hotaru hardly cared for anyone. She used people as she wished, then tossed them away when she was done. Even with Greg, their true friendship didn't start until after the fire.

Another shrug. "I considered it." He started. "But whether you're different or not you'll end up hurting Jack in some manner or another. Or something will happen with you as the direct cause, it's happened before. Not with you," He amended quickly. "but with one or two other girls." He sighed. "I could go into detail, but I won't, it's not my place."

Hotaru's expression quickly changed, she looked concerned now. "What?" she asked. "What other girls? What did they do to Jack?" her voice was cracking slightly. Just the thought of someone hurting Jack made her mad, worried, and confused all at the same time.
The Tora respected Aiden's decision on not getting into Jack's business, so she settled with looking him square in the eye. "I love Jack too much to hurt him, and if I do, then you can hunt me down and literally rip me limb from limb for all I care."

Aiden gave her a look. "You think I wasn't planning that already?" He asked her blandly. "The girls have already disappeared, so they're not the problem at the moment." He looked at her.
"It's nothing personal," He said, pulling out an untouched pack of cigarettes. He had picked them up after the unfortunate incident at the Wok as soon as he and Locke had parted ways. The Ookami was still debating on whether or not to try them out. "Typically I'm able to scare off potentials before they get near him, after that it requires force." He frowned. "Though with you I even went to your old house to try and get the job done, that didn't work either." He sighed.

Hotaru nodded. "Yeah, my brother told me about that already." she commented. A small grin formed on her lips. "Would've liked to see you knock out my dad." she commented.
"So if none of those methods have worked yet, what's your next plan?" she asked him. "Kidnap me, take me to some secret location, then kill me so no one could get in the way?" it was meant as a sarcastic joke, but whether or not the Ookami in front of her would actually consider it, she wasn't too sure of.

The Ookami blinked in realization. "You know, that might actually work, given a secure location and a good alibi..." He shook his head from the thoughts, Hotaru was here on the roof, now was not the time to plan her 'disappearance.' "Nevermind that, if I tell you then it won't be any fun, will it?" Aiden paused yet again. "Though you may want to grab a gun before the next time we might, I don't want to kill you without it being a fair fight."

"Good to know." the redhead said sarcastically. "But just know this:" she said, getting ready to say the one thing she'd been wanting to tell him for a while now. "I'm not letting go of him until he wants me to. Nothing you can do will change that." Strange, a song from Skillet popped into her head just then, or at least a few lines.
"You can't take away my strength, you can't take away my pride, I won't be denied..." she muttered to herself. She was sure she mixed up a few lines just then, but those were the main ones running through her mind at the moment. Aiden could probably hear her, but she didn't care, as long as he knew she wouldn't give up, at least not without a fight.

"Skillet." Aiden identified. "Live Free or Let Me Die. Kind of appropriate actually." He gave an absent nod, "So why did you become a gang member?" he asked. "Any particular reason aside from your abusive dad and your... mom... There's supposed to be an adjective there but the word I want escapes me." He frowned, tossing the cigarettes off the roof of the school.
