Locke's face didn't change. It just kept that neutral do-as-you-will expression that got Aiden to at least start on this topic. However, she'd be a complete liar to say that it didn't shock her.
"You mean, like that child murderer that's been on the news?" asked the Brit. "They call her the Puppet Master, I believe..."

Aiden shook his head. "Nah, she's about the same age though, and a thief too. She killed mom when she was born, if it wasn't for her then my mom would be alive right now..." His not-so hidden meaning being: 'if Tekka had died instead...'

Locke picked up very well on what Aiden was saying. It wasn't necessarily his sister's fault that their mother had died, but her companion had a compulsion to blame her. Given his age, it was likely because that meant Mrs. King had died just before Aiden had become an adolescent.
"You're in your mid-twenties or so..." mused the albino, looking at the Ookami sitting across from her. "That would have been a tough age to lose one's mother. I can see why you might blame your sister." The fact that she had turned out to be a thief wasn't too disturbing. The Puppet Master was much scarier than that, and besides, this infernal war had done crazy things to people, including Locke.

Aiden was pretty sure getting that vodka would be tough right about now, looks like he'd be holding off. He wasn't sure why she considered him to be in his mid-twenties. He was going to turn twenty-one in the winter, so why did he look older? Well, a couple years wasn't too much of a difference at least. He gave a shrug as an answer, pretty sure that a, 'Yes it was.' would be a bit of an understatement.
Besides, saying that didn't quite feel right on his tongue or settle right in his gut.

Aiden was closing up again, and Locke was getting frustrated. Clearly, this was why he was such a sour person, but knowing this wouldn't do her any good if the only person to be a match for her in the fighting arena wouldn't talk to her. The albino made a quick decision to change topic, perhaps something that would get him to say more.
"So... your brother," the Brit began. "The one who told you about the cheesy jalapeno grits... Is he real, or just a character made so you'd have a reason to put them on the list?"

"A little of both," He said taking another gulp of coffee. "Jack's a real person and just a little younger than I am but he hate's them." There was a small grin on his face, barely perceptible, but there nonetheless. "He tried 'em once and hated them, so that probably means I'll like them." That seemed to be how it worked with him and Jack, if Jack liked something odds were good Aiden hated it and vice-versa. 'Twas a strange sort of sibling thing but it was generally right.

"Not one for spicy food, then?" asked Locke, taking a sip of tea. "Pity. It's wonderful for the sinuses. Anyway, I've gotten 'Jack' and 'she' out of you about your siblings. Any chance your parents gave your sister a name?" The albino had been about to phrase it as 'your mum' instead, but that might piss Aiden off, and she didn't really want to start another fight... for real. Besides, it made sense that the Ookami hadn't bothered to mention his other sibling's name. He essentially hated her, somewhere deep down.

"Tekka." He said simply. His mother hadn't named her, and he was subconsciously glad about that. Plus she looked like his father and not his mother, it made her easier to hate.

Locke took another sip of her tea, then put the cup down. Aiden might not be talking, but he was still saying plenty. By shortness of answer, it was very apparent that his dislike of Tekka went past normal sibling rivalry. Still, best not to be bringing that up, lest her companioin hastily deny it. Then again... Aiden didn't seem like the type of person to be ashamed of hating even his own little sister.
"Tekka..." repeated the albino, her eyes showing genuine interest. "Definitely sounds more Japanese than Jack and Aiden. Sounds like your father was assimilated." It sounded worse than Locke meant it, but maybe the Ookami would laugh...

Aiden shrugged, small smile on his face, giving a small chuckle. "Dad named her, whereas Mom named Jack and me, so that's probably why. Mom never surrendered to this place, she always ordered hamburgers at sushi places and stuff." Ra, he missed her.

Locke laughed at Aiden's comment. Ordering a burger at a sushi bar was pretty much taboo. She sipped her tea again, hoping the first part of their meal would arrive soon.
"Your family must've been loaded," remarked the albino. "American food gets expensive, here in Japan. That is, unless you're in a diner like this where all culinary cultures can be found."

Aiden glanced at the kitchen doors, there was no way the entire meal would come out at once but there should be something arriving soon. "We probably were, though a lot of stuff happened after mom died. I think we were getting money from her side of the family, after she passed away we lasted a little while longer with expensive stuff, then poof." He opened a fist suddenly in a dramatization. "It all sort of ran out." It all probably linked back to that thing he was supposed to learn about, but that could just be the paranoia speaking for him.
A waiter cam out, two gigantic trays of food with mirrored orders on them came over to the table. Aiden dug into the pancakes as soon as they hit the table. After a couple of bites he asked, "So what's up with you? How'd you wind up in Hatsu Itonami if you're from Europe?"

Locke, as per the customs of a standard eating contest, also dug into the pancakes. After all, it would have been rude to ruin the measurements of the competition by starting on something else. At Aiden's question, the albino stopped and thought for a moment.
"Well, queer as it sounds, I came here to fight," answered the Brit, shrugging between bites. She may not have ordered blueberry pancakes, like her companion did, but it was pretty much a fair match. "Like I said, my parents had a lot of problems. I had to fend for myself most of my life, and when I was around seven, that involved stealing my parents' drug money to fly to Japan."

Aiden polished off the last of his pancakes and took a gulp of coffee before moving onto the eggs and asking another question. "But why Japan? A lot of martial arts are taught in China, not Japan. And there's several newer styles of street fighting in America." He took a few bites of his scrambled eggs.
"Aside from that, how did you wind up here? We're known for card games and not much fighting, unless you heard about the warehouse fire a couple years back." The Ookami clan had set fire to a warehouse that held a large non-card-game-oriented gang, he had been a part of it in a more subtle fashion than most, tipping off the clan and hiding the police report for one. After all, once a clan member always a clan member.

Locke smiled, having already moved on to her eggs a little before Aiden had finished his pancakes. She was running low on tea, though, and hoped that the service was good enough to bring around the teapot.
"To be honest, I thought that the person who told me about this war would be going with me," the albino continued. "She was an immigrant from none other than Hatsu Itonami, and when she said 'war', I got excited. Figured I'd find a good challenge here, and it may have taken twelve years, but I sure did." Locke was glad that Aiden was asking questions for a change. It meant that she had picked his mind enough, either to make him finally feel comfortable around her, or to be annoyed with the Brit's voice enough to do some actual talking of his own.
