Aiden steeped his fingers and placed his chin atop that. "So you fancy yourself a fighter AND a psychiatrist. Imagine that." He thought over her words for a moment more. "I have an idea of what keeps me getting up every morning, but putting it into words is a bit more difficult."

Locke couldn't resist laughing at Aiden's confusion of terms. She rather hoped that her genuine smile would let him know that she wasn't being malicious.
"First of all, that's natural," informed the albino, once she had managed to stop giggling. "It's often difficult to describe our psychological needs. Second of all, I'd actually rather not be a psychiatrist. They can prescribe medicine, and the empathy would be too great to keep from following my own prescriptions." Locke was being facetious, of course. Drug abuse was selfish and foolish, especially to a person whose physical condition was one of the foremost parts of her life.

Aiden grinned back. He wasn't sure why he was smiling at this girl, but she certainly had his respect if nothing else. That was a step in the right direction. "Good to know you're not an idiot." He remarked. Actually, now that he was thinking about why he was bothering to walk around in the light of day, a simple triple-syllabic word popped up in his mind. 'Protection.'

Something about the Ookami was beginning to change, as far as Locke could see. Or, perhaps 'change' wasn't entirely accurate; more like... emerge. Feeling that she was finally getting somewhere, the albino cautiously continued to pursue the topic at hand.
"I know the feeling," she agreed. "After seeing how a lot of the people in this crazy world act, someone at least remotely like I am is quite a relief." Locke thought for a moment and grinned, blue eyes beginning to sparkle again. "Then again, denying that the two of us are crazy is just about as idiotic as self-medicating on psychatropic drugs. After all, we just filled four pages of a waiter's book in an attempt to out-order each other, and it was all after we got done sparring on the beach for no adequately-explored reason."

Aiden quirked his brow. "Odd bit of phrasing there, it doesn't have to be adequately explored. Often times things just happen." He was referring to the fighting, and actually a little bit to the order-a-thon. "Though I suppose I can't deny the crazy part." He had been called worse though, and considering that it was coming from Locke it probably wasn't an insult so he decided not to take it as one.

Locke smiled at Aiden, glad he agreed with her on the whole 'crazy' matter. Also, his comment on the way things went opened up a nice new door for her to try and get inside the Ookami's head.
"You're quite right," the albino said, nodding. "Sometimes, things do just happen. For example, would you like to know how I got this accent?" It was a bad joke. A very bad one, but it just might make Aiden snicker, or at least get curious about her background.

"Do tell." He asked, grinning as a nondescript waitress brought over their drinks. She wasn't serious, and that was refreshing. He watched her over the rim of his mug as much-needed caffeine worked its way into his system.

Locke took a sip of her tea, savouring the muscatel flavour as she prepared to tell a bit of her tale.
"You see, my father was a drinker," began the Brit. She paused, wondering if perhaps Aiden would have any knowledge of severely ancient comedy. "On top of that, my mother was a heroin addict, among other nasty little habits. They didn't get along, and they were never home. Combine that with the fact that I had a difficult temperament as a baby, and you have a deadly cooperation of nature and nurture." The albino sipped at her tea again. "But I digress. I was born in England, or at least what used to be England."

Aiden smirked a bit as he realized where this was coming from. An old movie, something out of the DC comics if he was right. Jack had raved about it as a little kid, dragging his elder brother (and to Aiden's distaste, Tekka) to go see the remastered movie on his thirteenth birthday. Ah, memories.
"Well that IS where one would expect a British accent to come from." He commented, placing the white mug back down and folding his arms on the tabletop.

It was almost time to huff exasperatedly again. Locke thought that being funny might bring out a few more words from Aiden, given that he apparently respected her, but her sparring partner was likely more witty than the albino had expected.
"Anyway, that's just me," continued Locke. "You, on the other hand, sound very American for being a resident of a little Japanese city. Any specific history behind that?"

Aiden leaned back in his chair. "From what I remember of what my mom told me a long time ago, she and my father came here from what used to be America." He gave a small pause before continuing. "Apparently they were going through a bit of trouble over there, for what she never told me. They came here a year after I was born." He shrugged. "I picked up the Americanisms from them."

Locke nodded, almost wishing that she could at least appear to be writing this down, so as to further try and amuse Aiden. It was clearly the only way to get him to really talk, but the Brit had no idea how to do it effectively.
"That's what I expected," replied the albino, sipping at her tea once more. "Well, I can't say the service here is the greatest, but their Darjeeling is smashing, to say the least." Locke cleared her throat a little and set the cup down. "Anyway, I'm surprised that your mum didn't tell anything more about why your parents moved here. It seems like a rather important detail to just... skim over like that."

Aiden took another swig of his coffee, wondering if he should ask for a bit of vodka to put in it. "That's what I thought, she said she'd tell me when I got older but... well, things didn't exactly turn out the way they should have." Yeah, next time a waiter came around he'd get a shot of vodka to put in the coffee, he had a feeling he'd need it.

Locke was about to pick her cup back up, but her hands froze in midair. It wasn't that she didn't feel comfortable asking Aiden about further details, but... If she was too forward, it could eliminate all of the progress she had made thus far. An idea came to her; a rather good one that compiled what she had learned here, as well as on the beach.
"Aiden..." began the albino once again. "I can tell that this is going to be painful for you. You don't..." Slender hands suddenly unfroze, and Locke took a grateful mouthful of tea before continuing. "You don't have to tell me the rest, if you don't want to."

Aiden felt the rather familiar spark of annoyance at the thought of not being able to handle it. He handled it fine. He betrayed little if not nothing through his facial features. "She was killed by my sister." He muttered half-into his coffee cup. Not really realizing that it hadn't come out as clear as he had wanted it.
