Kairi giggled and clapped her hands. "Their waddle is so cute!"
Kairi followed Tekka's eyes, and watched as people milled about towards the upper part of the mall. She heard people whispering, but she was too far away to hear what it was.
She turned to Tekka. "Think we should go see what's going on? And see if anyone needs help?" Standing up suddenly, Kairi looked back at the upper mall. "What if someone needs help?"
Kairi was smiling, but it was worried, and she looked like torn between finding out what was going on and leaving it be.

Tekka slapped some money on the table and grabbed the bag. "Lets go." She said before grabbing Kairi's arm and charging up the steps. She dipped and dodged and wove through the crowd like only a thief could, still tugging Kairi along. Trying to get to the head of the mass of bodies was difficult, but they finally arrived at the front.

(OOC: TT^TT Sai-chan is so cruel.....)
Kairi nodded and just let Tekka drag her through the crowd and up to where the crowds had all gathered.
It looked somewhat like a gang fight. People were throwing punches left and right, some were on the ground, and the people all gathered around were either pulled into the fighting or doing nothing to stop it.
Kairi felt a cold feeling in her gut, and turned to face Tekka. "Something isn't right here......I mean, someone needs help, but I don't see anyone.....Tekka! The kid!"
Kairi pointed frantically to a small little, blond haired boy who was was curled against a shop wall, stuck in the middle of all the fighting. Kairi couldn't see his mother anywhere.
Gulping, Kairi turned to Tekka. "I gotta do something." Kairi took a deep breath and dove through the fighting, ducking and scrambling about. In cases like this, her clumsiness worked for her, instead of against her.
Once she made it to the boy, she sheltered him until she was close enough, and then threw him to Tekka. She pointed to a teenage girl cowering in the brawling crowds. "You get her, Tekka."

Tekka caught the boy and was quickly relieved of him by a sobbing mother before she darted into the fray. Unfortunately, there was no clumsiness aiding her, just bare skill.
She ducked and dodged, occasionally throwing a kick or punch before she got the the girl. By that time she had a split lip and a bruise or two on her arms but was in pretty good shape.
The girl looked alarmed at Tekka's appearance but the blond spoke. "It's okay, I'm gonna get you out of here." She looked around, and saw a frayed cord falling from the ceiling thanks to the brawl going on. "Get on my back, I'm stronger than I look."
The girl complied and Tekka grabbed the cord, swinging around into the safety of the crowd. The girl hopped off Tekka's back and rushed into the arms of her boyfriend who was just arriving on the scene.
Tekka darted back to the fight and dove in, trying to knock as many thugs unconscious as possible.

Kairi fought too. She couldn't just leave Tekka to do the handiwork, and besides, all those years of swords training paid off.
Of course, Kairi's clumsiness was bound to get in the way somehow......Though, in this case, it was more of an aid than a hindrance.
Kairi, in her haste to escape a kick to the back, tried to jump forward, but ended up flailing her arms to keep from falling, which she did anyway.
She fell onto one guy, who fell into another guy, who fell into another......When she saw the domino male of bodies heading towards where Tekka was, she shouted over the din of voices and noises, "Sai-chan, move!"
Kairi sat there, amongst a lot of fallen men, blinking in surprise. Well, that takes care of that. Smiling, she sighed in relief before crawling to her best friend.
They were both covered in bruises and scrapes of sorts, but they were alive. "We did good, ne, Sai-chan?"

Tekka ducked from what would have been a very painful punch to the face before she heard Kairi's warning. She spun around and saw the mildly comical domino effect. Tekka dove out of the way of the falling bodies and rolled to the floor. It was less graceful than what she had planned, but it would do.
She looked up from her spot and grinned at Kairi, giving the equally battered girl a thumbs up. "I'd say so Kai-chan." She winced at the bruises. They were lucky though, it wasn't often you got into a fight like that and got out almost unscathed. That is, with no broken bones.
"Dad's never going to believe this one." She muttered with a laugh. "I can picture it now. I walk home, he wonders what happened, and I'll say, 'oh nothing, just stopped a gang from taking over the mall with my best friend. The ususal.'" She giggled. "He'll have a heart-attack."

Kairi winced at the same exact moment Tekka did. It seemed they were both in for a painful recovery of sorts. "At least we saved some lives or something."
Kairi had to laugh at that. "I know your pain. If my brother sees me like this....." Kairi flinched, before looking around nervously, hoping she didn't see him in the crowd. "I was supposed to run from danger, not face it head on."
Laughing, but in pain, Kairi stood to her feet and offered Tekka a hand up. "We might as well got to the bridge now. We can sit and watch the sky and cool off."

Tekka smiled, "Yeah, or something." It was a moment after she heard her friend's other statement that she blinked. "I didn't know you had a brother." Tekka laughed. "That's yet another thing we have in common, protective brothers."
Tekka took her friend's hand gratefully and pulled herself up. "Sounds good to me. A little rest would do us good right now, though we might want to go get ourselves checked over later to be safe." Tekka grimaced. "I never thought I'd hear myself say that."
She went to pick up the bag with Kairi, only to come across the girl and little boy from earlier along with their boyfriend and mother respectively.

Kairi smiled fondly. "He's not my real brother, obviously, but I can't see him as anything but a brother. And I think he worries about me. So, if he saw me, it'd be bad."
Kairi's smile faded slightly. "I'll take you to the hospital, but I won't get checked there. I take care of myself, you know, herbs. I make my own medicine, because I don't like doctors."
When Kairi saw the teenager, her boyfriend, the little boy, and his mother, she simply held up a hand to stop them from speaking. "We're just glad your alright. You don't need to thank us. Me and my friend, Tekka here, are just glad we could help."
Kairi patted the two teenagers on the head, hugged the mother, and bent down to ruffle the boy's hair before standing and bowing politely with her head, linking her arm with Tekka's. "Be careful on the way home."
With that said, she led her and Tekka through the crowds and the people, but as soon as they were a good distance away, Kairi stopped abruptly. "You know, I just realized.......I have no idea where the bridge is."

"Really?" The Tora asked. "That's a pretty useful skill. Probably comes in handy with all the tripping you do Kai-chan."
Tekka was glad that it was Kairi who spoke. Tekka had never been too good with talking to complete strangers. She gave the little boy and his mother a hug and shook the two teen's hands, Tekka gave a wave before being pulled off into the crowd with Kairi. "Well I feel special." She said with a smile.
Tekka was jolted to a halt with Kairi and the thought dawned on her. "And I'm a little too battered to climb up another pole..."

Kairi laughed. "It sure does! Especially since I live by myself. You never know what may happen!"
Kairi laughed. "Yeah, makes you feel like a movie star doesn't it? I like helping people. I love seeing it when they smile."
Shaking her head, Kairi searched for a pole. When she found one she could wrap her arms and legs around, despite her body's protests, and shimmed up it.
Of course, she was too battered to hold onto it, so she ended up falling onto her back. Thankfully, she wasn't up that way, and she pointed the way they'd been going. "It's right up there!"

Tekka moved so that she could catch Kairi if she fell. It didn't surprise the blond when her friend toppled off the pole, what did surprise her was that she actually managed to catch her falling friend, albeit slightly.
Tekka's face lit up at the announcement. "Then let's go! I want to see the stars from the sky bridge!" She did a little dance that was cut short by the myriad of injuries and tugged on Kairi's wrist. "To the bridge Kai-chan!"

Kairi laughed and danced with her friend, her injuries also cutting the dance short. "As do I!"
Kairi laughed and announced, "To the sky bridge!" And she let herself be dragged by Tekka.
And as soon as they crossed the threshold of a door that led immediately outside, they were surrounded by the night sky. They were on the sky bridge, and the bridge was so high, it looked like you were standing in the sky itself.
A cool, but soft breeze danced along Kairi's skin, and she smiled, leaning her arms on the railing of the bridge, looking at the stars. "So pretty, ne, Sai-chan?"

Tekka let a wide grin spread its way over her face as she looked out at the stars. "Beautiful, like little diamonds up in the sky..." She murmured as she leaned on the railing. She blinked and gave a giggle. "I think I've heard that analogy used before somewhere."
It was breathtaking. From the height that they were at it was possible to see most of the city. The streetlights and the rare neon sign made it seem like the stars weren't only above them, but all around them.

Kairi smiled, and then, softly, she started to sing the old song, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. "I think that's where you got it from."
Kairi's smile was large, and wide, but her eyes were soft. "You know, being out here doesn't make my wounds hurt as much."
She reached out a hand, as if to clasp a star, but clutched her fist when she couldn't reach. "They look so close, but they are so far away.....Yet, they burn so bright. Stars are strong."
