A small child tore down the streets of Hatsu Itonami, she was perhaps nine years old, though she could have passed for six with her height. The girl's name was Tekka King, and today had been her first attempt at pickpocketing and the shouting following her indicated that it hadn't gone well. Dueling hadn't brought home enough money, so she had had to turn to something! She didn't want to lose her home, even if Aiden was a meanie and Jack was barely home and her dad paid her little attention. She didn't wanna hafta leave!
The girl ducked down an alley and dove under some boxes. Tekka tried to keep her breath light and quiet, discovery would wind up with at least a fine. One she couldn't afford. The shouts soon passed the alley, and a few minutes later, the blond poked her head out from the piles of boxes.

Greg was walking along, minding his own business. He had his hands in his pockets and his cap had been tugged down enough to cover his eyes from people looking directing in front of him. Not that it messed with his seeing, he was looking down at his feet to avoid tripping.
The purple haired teen had needed to go out and walk a little on his own, his redheaded best friend wasn't in her best mood, and it didn't help that his step brother enjoyed pushing it a little with an insult or two. He had known there was no point in trying to break up one of their fights(seeing as though one or both of them would take it out on him), so he just decided to let them work it out. He knew Hotaru would get bored with it eventually and just settle it with one good hit and be done with it at some point anyway.
As he was walking, he noticed a small figure close by, along with a bunch of boxes. The teen raised a brow at this and walked a little closer. "What's a little kid like you hiding like that?" he asked as he neared the blond a little more. He tried not to get too close, didn't wanna scared her after all.

Tekka squeaked and jumped, knocking over her box. She whirled to face whoever had spoken. "Nothing!" She said, going on the defensive. What if he was in cahoots with the guy she had stolen from!? This was bad bad bad!! She folded her arms in front of her. "Why would I tell you anyway?" The little girl was trying and failing to copy one of Aiden's poses, they always scared her, but it seemed as if she was unable to duplicate the effect.

Greg took off his hat for a moment to look at the little girl. He blinked as she tried to pull off some sort of intimidating look, causing him to grin and laugh lightly. He put the hat back on, giving her a calm yet clever smile. "'Cause I won't turn you in to whoever you're runnin' from." he responded.

Tekka pouted and stomped her foot. "I'm not runnin'!" She denied. "I didn't steal nothing, neither." She scowled to the side, still trying as hard as she could to look like Aiden. It wasn't working, but it was all she could do. If she was lucky this weird guy would suddenly think it was scary and run away. Fat chance.

"Uh-huh." Greg said, still grinning. "Now I never said you stole, but now that you mentioned it I gotta assume that you did." he chuckled a little and shook his head. "You know, I'd drop the wannabe tough girl act, it doesn't suit you." Eva and Hotaru were the only girls he had met that could pull off such a look and get away with it, but this kid certainly couldn't. "If I were you, I'd go with the cute and innocent approach, people would buy it a lot better with a little kid like you."
He held out his hand for a hand shake. "Name's Greg, your friendly neighborhood gangster." he introduced himself proud. "And you would be...?"

Tekka blinked at the mention of him being a gangster. She was admittedly impressed. There was certainly some prestige with that title if she was going to be a thief like she planned. She nodded to the advice and after a moment she shook his hand. "'M Tekka." She looked at his hat briefly and then looked him straight in the eyes. "Your hat is wrong." She told him matter-of-factly. Everyone knew gangters wore fedoras!

"My hat?" he asked, taking it off and looking at it for a moment before putting it back on his head. "It's my lucky hat, I wear it all the time." And considering he had both escape the police numerous times and won quite a lot of gambles while wearing it, he had great reason to call it such.

The small girl shook her head. "But if you're inna gang then ya gotta wear a fedora! S'part of the... the thing!" She wasn't sure what the 'thing' in question was, really. To prover her point she added on. "Jack said so." And she had seen this knowledge first-hand thanks to all the old movies lying around their house. Of course, Jack hadn't said that in years, but Tekka remembered it.

"Riiiight." Greg nodded sarcastically. "And this Jack person would know this because of stereotypical movies I'm guessing?" he grinned.
"But whatever." he said, tugging the cap slightly and looking down at her. "A fedora would make me look silly, people wouldn't really take me seriously then." he pointed out to her. "So I think I'll just stick to this little thing."

Tekka frowned. "Ya'd look the same amounta silly ta me." She said with a nod. The then held her arms behind her back and rocked back and forth on her feet. "So why ya here?"

Greg shrugged. "My boss and brother got into a fight, decided to let them have it out instead of budding in." he laughed a little and rubbed the back of his neck. "So I'm just hangin' around for the moment."
He raised a brow at her. "What about you? You seem a little too young to be out by yourself. And especially too young to start stealing..."

Tekka frowned sadly and kicked at a pebble. "If I don't then we don't got enough money ta keep our house..." She said, looking down. There was a pause then she looked up. "You're inna gang, ya know how ta steal things, right?" It was just an assumption, but she needed the help.

Greg's grin fell. She was stealing so she could keep her house? Damn government, it was times like this where he remembered one of the reasons why he joined the gang. To get away from the government's hold and teach them a lesson.
He blinked at Tekka's question. "Yeah? Where you getting at?" he asked, though he already had a feeling as to what the answer was.

Tekka grinned. "Then you can teach me howta do it, right? Pleeeeaaaase?" She poured on the puppy eyes on the plea, it was his own advice, so maybe she could see if it would help at all. If it worked on a gangster, who knew what possibilities it held! "I really really REALLY need the help!" Her lower lip wobbled just a little, it always worked on Jack, and it occasionally worked on her dad (which was more impressive by far).
