Hotaru walked along the beach barefoot with Jack. She wore white shorts that touched the top of her knees with a red tank top, revealing her tattoos of Phoenix wings on each of her shoulders. She had decided to leave her cloak at home for two reason: one, she was still trying to clean it from the night before, and two, they were at the freaking beach! Common sense told her that it would be too hot to wear something like that.
She smiled to herself, watching as sand collected between her toes. People were right, this place was beautiful. The sun was hanging in the sky peacefully as the blue sky flew above them, showing no sign of the rain from the night before.
She looked up at Jack, smiling as she spoke. "So, what's on your mind?"

Jack shrugged as a breeze blew over his face. He was wearing jean shorts and a faded grey t-shirt. His regular jeans were still in the wash from that nights escapades at City Hall, and it was really too nice a day to wear long pants.
Unfortunately, the shirt's sleeves were a bit shorter than those last night, so the bandage from his hospital trip was more than a little visible.
On the plus side, the rain had cleared up and everything was bright and sunny today, perfect for the beach. "The usual I guess, how long until that waitress finally cracks, what time the meeting was supposed to take place at, if I actually care that I missed it for this." He grinned.
"Typical guy thoughts. So what about you?"

"Just wondering why I never bothered coming here before now." she replied, going back to looking at her feet. "And how warm the sand feels." she added.
She looked at him and noticed the bandage on his arm, suddenly feeling a litle worried. "What happened to your arm?" she asked him, moving her long hair back so she could see it better. She honestly didn't know why she didn't bring something to put it up with.

Jack grinned, wiggling his toes in the sand. "It feels pretty great, doesn't it?"
He noticed her look at his arm and prepared what to say so that it didn't sound utterly ridiculous. Though that was difficult considering the circumstances it was obtained in...
"I uh.. got stabbed with corn, as ridiculous as that sounds." He scratched his cheek. That just sounded like a bad joke out loud...

Hotaru looked up at him, hearing how he got the wound. She smiled like a kid, trying to hold back a small giggle. "Leave it to you to get injured in the strangest of ways." she joked gently. "But, you seem okay, so I guess I won't freak out." she told him.
She smirked as she suddenly began walking a little a head of him. It turned into a light jog as she turned back to him real quick. "Bet'cha can't catch me!" she sang like a child as she began to run.

Jack grinned and took off after Hotaru, kicking up sand in his wake. "Bet'cha I can!" He called out after her as they sped down the beach, laughing all the while.
He caught her in a hug, tackling her and rolling in the air so that he landed first on the sand laughing. They were pretty far down the beach and few (if any) people were around. There was a rocky outcropping a little ways away and a few tide pools were wedged in between the rocks.

Hotaru let out a playful yelp as Jack caught her. She laughed uncontrollably as the two landed on the warm sand, feeling completely oblivious to what was around the two.
"Okay," she said after laughing for a while. "guess you can catch me, after all." she rolled over on her stomach, kicking her legs up lazily. She propped her head up using her fists as she looked at Jack. "So what do you normally do when you're on a date?" she asked randomly. She smirked as she continued. "Win them over with your charm and talent for mischief?"

Jack grinned. "Did that last night, didn't I?" He asked in mock-confusion. "Or do I have to reinstate my prowess in that particular area?"
He looked around for a good target in case the answer was a 'yes.' Someone around their mid-life crisis, without little kids around, and wasn't old enough to get a heart attack. Hmmm...
He quickly spotted a man in his mid fifties swimming a little while off. Male pattern baldness, chunky, unsuspecting. A more perfect target had never been found. Now to wait for the verdict on whether or not he had to 'reinstate his prowess.'

The Tora noticed what Jack was going to do, and shook her head. "Please, no annoying someone until their brain runs out their ears?" she asked, trying to look as innocent as possible. "I don't feel like cleaning up messes like I had to lastnight." she reminded him.
She sat up, scooping a pile of sand into her hand. Hotaru watched the grains slide away for a small moment before throwing it at him playfully. "Dork!" she giggled when the sand hit his face.

Jack pouted. "Fine..." He sighed, "But only 'cause you had to clean up all the messes last night." He poked her nose. "I promise I won't annoy them until they implode." ...Unless they deserve it. He added mentally.
The Ookami barely had time to shut his eyes before the sand hit his face. He spat out some of the grains and rubbed it out of his eyes. "You know," He said, giving her his best 'Revenge!' look, "This means war."
With that he cupped his hand and dipped it into the water that had gathered in one of the footprints. "Five second head start." He grinned evilly.

Hotaru grinned as she quickly stood to her feet and began to run off, laughing to herself. Her sprint didn't last long, as she tripped in the sand about two seconds later. She stood up a second time, running as if her life depended on it within the next three seconds.

Jack ticked off the seconds in his head, upon reaching five, he was on his feet and running after her. He snatched up a small abandoned bucket sitting on the sand and skimmed it over the water. It filled about a quarter of the way up before running after Hotaru again.
It wasn't too long before he caught up, though she had had a head start she had only been able to use a couple seconds of it. He aimed carefully and hurled the water at her, half hoping he missed, half hoping he hit.

Hotaru jumped when the water slapped right into her. She turned around to Jack, running after him. When she got close enough she shoved him into the water, following shortly after. The salty taste from the water got stuck in her mouth as she quickly tried getting up to breath. She took a few breaths, smiling the whole time. "Gotcha!" she told him when he came back up.

Jack groaned, dunking his head back into the water before resurfacing. "I can't win, can I?" He joked with a smile on his face. He stood up, clothes sopping wet.
"Since we're already soaked," He shot her a grin. "Wanna go swimming?"

Hotaru poked his cheek. "Nope, doesn't work that way!" She returned his suggestion with a grin of her own. "Of course! Do you know how long I've waited to go swimming?" She fell back in the water, getting a little more adjusted to the water before continuing.
