Jack leaned back against the headstone of a man named Max Putterton breathing heavily. "I'm going to kill that girl." He muttered. He was referring to his sister, who had hidden his sheet music here in the graveyard. It had been awhile since he had had the time to explore places like this and now it was his first day back in the clans.
In short, the Ookami was lost.
The shadows were playing tricks on him, leading him this way and that and scaring the bejeebies out of him whenever they got the chance.
He decided to hum to tune them out. Not the most professional approach, but whatever worked. He hummed Moonlight Sonata. It was his favorite piece to play.

Hotaru walked slowly into the cemetary, face covered by the hood of her cloak. A bundle of flowers were safely secured in her arms, as a few tears leaked out from her grey eyes. She was there to visit a friend of hers. A friend that had died in her place, when she didn't deserve it. Twice he had saved her from death, and he even followed her orders of joining a clan, knowing the critism he would get from it all.
The red head sat down at the tomb stone marked 'Greg Bennson' as she laid the flowers down gently. She smiled weakly as she looked at the tomb stone. "Hey, Greg, how have things been?" she asked, as if he was there with her. "Tora's been pretty good as far, I actually enjoy it a little... but it's not the same without you, you know." a few more tears dropped down. "I... I don't think I told you this yet, but I... got revenge on those jerks who did this to you." she looked around, trying to see if there was any other familiar names on the tombstones around her. "Good, they weren't put next to you." she muttered. "Greg, I'm so sorry..." she was about to say more, but was cut off by her tears.
She couldn't hid them anymore. she fell on her face and began to sob loudly. In the distance, she heard someone humming. It was a beautiful melody, and somewhat calmed her, but not enough to stop the loud cries coming from her.

Jack stopped his humming at the sounds of a girl crying. He stood up and looked around, a little ways off there was a red-hooded teen crying in front of a gravestone. The brunette was never one to leave a girl crying, so he walked over. He stooped down next to her and laid a hand on her shoulder. "Hey there, what's wrong?" He asked softly, giving a comforting smile. He was using all of his older sibling charm right now, with any luck it'd help.

Hotaru looked up as someone put their hand on her shoulder and began talking to her. It was a guy around her age. She blushed, feeling embarrassed. She tried wipping off her tears as she spoke. "I- I'm fine... I was just visiting someone very close to me." she pointed to Greg's grave for proof. "Happens all the time at cemetaries, right?" she tried joking, but her voice came out weak from crying. "Th- thank you very much for asking..."

Jack smiled at her and wiped away a tear she had missed. "It's no trouble, but for you to be crying there has to be something wrong." He glanced at the grave and put two and two together. "You miss him, don't you? He was special to you." It was a statement more than it was a question.

Hotaru nodded to the man's statement. "My best friend... He saved my life twice, but the second time, he had to pay for it." she stared at his grave as she spoke. "He was the only one that paid any attention to me before we got drafted in Tora together, I owe him a lot." she scratch her cheek slightly. "But now I can't..." she then began to wonder why this guy would be trying to help her out. She noticed his green wristband. An Ookami. She didn't say anything about it, it would have been rude.

Jack nodded. "I see. So you feel guilty that you never got to repay him?" He was checking, though he was positive that for once he had it right. "Well, you can repay him by living your life the best that you can. If he was your best friend, he'd want you to be happy, wouldn't he?"

Hotaru shrugged, pulling her hood more to try covering herself as a sort of defense. She didn't know what she was trying to defend herself from, he seemed really nice. "Yes, that's correct, but it still doesn't take that pain away." she thought back to Greg's final words.
"I've loved you for years."
Hotaru bit her lip. She couldn't cry again, not in front of someone who was trying to help her. She needed to get her act together, if possible. "Besides, I did do something for him after he died, though it wasn't the wisest thing to do..." she whispered quietly, hoping he wouldn't hear her comment.
She looked back at him, shadows from her hood hiding her face. "You're very kind. Thank you."

The Ookami could tell she wasn't quite over it, but decided to let it go. "You're welcome." Jack smiled at the girl and then chuckled. "My sister won't think me so kind when I kick the crap out of her for hiding my sheet music somewhere around here."
He extended his hand. "I'm Jack King. It's nice to meet you."

Hotaru hesitated in telling him her name as she shook his hand. She settled on giving him her nickname instead. "Call me Phoenix, for now." she said, trying to smile. This guy seemed to be friendly enough, and if time allowed, she might actually get to know him more and tell him her real name. "Pleasure to meet you, Jack."
She grinned from his prior comment. "A music sheet, huh? I suppose that means you're a musician." she thought back to the humming she heard in the middle of her break down. "Was that you singing a moment ago? It was really beautiful."

The brunette was glad to see that she felt at least a little better and didn't mind that she only gave him and alias. "Well then, Phoenix it is." He smiled a little wider.
"Yes, I play the piano." He blushed a little. "And you really think so? Moonlight sonata is one of my favorites, I'm glad that I did it justice."

Hotaru tried to hold back a blush of her own when Jack spoke. There was something about him that made her happy. He was probably just one of those people, she guessed. "I'd like to hear you play some time." she looked around, standing up. "I could help you find your music sheet, if you want me to." she offered, being polite. "It would be a waste for you to lose one of your pieces, like an artist losing their painting." she removed her hood, revealing her long, red hair. It was starting to make things hard to see.

Jack made a deep bow. "It'd be my pleasure." He said before righting himself. "And it'd be a big help if you would. I have a feeling I'm lost." He scratched his cheek and laughed. "This is why you should never let me wander a graveyard at night."
He looked at her hair and smiled. "Red like a Phoenix's flames. Though I'm sure that there's more to your name than that." He smiled. "Well, let's go then, shall we?"

Hotaru grinned at Jack's comment. "You're right." she was refering to the Phoenix name and left it at that. "Well, I know my way around here pretty well from my visits, so you're not lost anymore." she smiled. "Do you have any clue where your sister might have put your sheet?" she then asked, walking around, searching for the paper.

Jack rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "She'd put it somewhere high up and where I would never think to look..." After a moment he slapped his forehead. "The top of the front gate! Man, I'm an idiot!"
