Hotaru softly giggled at his words. "No you're not, you just needed to think a little." she paused for a second. "Do you need help getting there?" she asked him, raising an eyebrow.

Jack laughed. "Help would be nice." He looked around. "So which way is it to the entrance, Miss Phoenix?" He asked with a grin. For being lost in the middle of a graveyard late at night he was surprisingly happy. Perhaps it had to do with finding company.
That was probably it, his company knowing a lot of the surrounding area was a big confidence booster too. Besides, she seemed friendly enough, if not a little suspicious. But that was better than the open hostility he had gotten when working for the government.

Hotaru smiled, pointing right a head of her. "This way, follow me." as she began to walk in the direction of the main gate, she glanced back at Greg's grave. "I'll be back." she whispered, hoping her old friend could hear her.
As the two walked, Hotaru looked over at Jack. "So what kind of relationship would you say you have with your sister?" she wanted to try to bring up conversation. She hated it when things were silent for too long.

Jack stepped forward and gave another 'thanks' before the conversation started up again. He thought for a moment. "Normal sibling relationship I guess. I bug her, she bugs me, we annoy the hell out of our older brother." He shrugged. "Typical brother-sister dynamics."
He looked over at her. "What about you? Any siblings?"

Hotaru laughed silently. "Cute." she commented. then she heard him ask about her siblings. "Uh, well... my family's a bit of a complicated subject..." it shocked her that she hadn't seen or talked to her family in such a long time. When she was in her old gang, she would normally stay at their hideout, and now she lived with the rest of the Tora. She felt bad for not even thinking about them for who knows how long. "I was never smart enough to aprecciate family when I was younger." she admitting, trying to smile. She had already cried in front of him, she didn't want to seem like a constant cry baby.
When the arrived at the main gate, she looked around. "See the paper anywhere?" she asked him.

"Families are often complicated nowadays," Jack said, "It's a pity that we grow so estranged from those who raise us." He mused, giving a wry grin. Tekka was hardly home anymore, and he had been the same way for the first year or so he was in Ookami. Even so, most find a new family within the clans. He added silently.
He smiled softly at Phoenix. "A lot of people don't at that time, but you learn to value them as you learn about the war and the sacrifices people have made." He gave a small laugh. "For the first year or two I was in the clans I forgot to visit home, I was too busy with clan duties and almost forgot about them." He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "Took my brother three days of trying to get me over there for me to remember."
Noticing that they had come to a stop Jack looked up. Spotting a fluttering corner of the papers near the edge of the top of the twelve foot tall granite gate. He sighed. "Yup. Hang on a sec, I'll grab 'em."
The brunette gripped the worn sides of the gate and began to pull himself up. It wasn't too difficult to scale the rough stone, and he soon reached the top. Under a carefully placed rock were the sheets, appearing to be none the worse for wear.
A wind was picking up, so he grabbed the sheets and quickly placed them in his pocket. Jack looked around, it was a fantastic view. The road to the graveyard was on a hill, winding down into the city, and from this vantage point you could see most of the city sparkling with lights.
He grinned and leaned over the top to look at Phoenix who was a little ways down. "Phoenix, come up here! There's a a fantastic view!"

Hotaru smiled as Jack urged her to come up. After a few short moments, she had managed to reach the top and looked around her. "Wow," she said softly. "It's beautiful." the lights from the city reminded her of the stars. It was truly a sight to see. "We may be in war, but there's always times like this that tend to give you hope of a better future." she turned, still smiling, to Jack to see the expression on his face.

Jack nodded, a wide grin on his face. "You're right, when you see how much we've rebuilt, it makes you think anything is possible." He turned to Phoenix, still smiling. "Looks like you've cheered up some." He ruffled her hair lightly in an older-brotherly way.
Hope for a better future was what most people had, but something would have to give to make it all happen. The government was most likely what would break, if the clans united then it would be easy to take down.
Of course, sometimes unity isn't always the thing on peoples minds.

Hotaru giggled lightly when Jack ruffled with her hair. "It's hard not to be with cheerful people around." she commented. "It feels nice to be around someone like that again." she added, keeping her warm smile. It was true, she didn't have many friends anymore, and the people that were around her most of the time were always talking about the war. Few members of her clan knew of her old gang, and had often tried asking her to lead attacks on the other clans, which she always refused. There had been so much negativity around her during her life.

Jack grinned wider. "It feels good to make people happy, I honestly don't see why people don't do it more." He shrugged and kicked his legs. It felt good to be up high, perhaps this was why some people hung around on roofs.
He blinked as something occurred to him. "You know, we got up here, but how do we get down again?"

"Easy," Hotaru said. "We jump down!" she use to be very athletic from years of fighting, so she thought she would be able to, still. She jumped off, landed on her feet for about half a second, and fell back on her butt, gravity being too strong for her.
"Ouch..." Guess she was wrong. "Darn it," she whispered. "Go ahead, make yourself look bad in front of a potential friend."

Jack gave a laugh at Phoenix's antics and swung down. He too fell, though his initial landing was not nearly as graceful. He landed on one foot, flailed his arms a bit, and fell back to the earth.
He stared up at the sky for a moment before sitting up. "Remind me to never jump twelve feet off of a gate ever again." He laughed out before getting to his feet. He held out a hand to help the Tora up. "Need a lift?"

Hotaru giggled at Jack's landing and his comment after. When he offered her a hand, she took it. "Thanks." she said. "I suppose neither of us should be jumping from that high up."
Hotaru looked down at the dirt covering her cloak. She went to brush it off, luckily it flew off within seconds. "The good news is you got your music sheet back, and we didn't break any bones getting down."

Jack shrugged. "Yeah, I don't think shattered ribs are conducive for your general health." He brushed off some of the dirt that was on his jeans.
"Yeah that's a plus, and I got to meet someone new." He grinned and his stomach gave a growl. He poked it. "Hush."

Hotaru's smile grew a little wider at Jack's comment. She then watched him poke and talk to his stomach, making her smile more. "Is someone hungry?" she asked, amussed. "How long have you been out here, anyway?"
