Theo trotted down the halls of the manor, smiling widely. He hadn't been here in a long time, he was pretty sure, he might have visited back when there was a tumor in his head, but memory loss... well, it didn't count if he couldn't remember, did it? He was meeting up with Yuki near the front in a minute or so, so they could explore together, but for now...
Well, actually, he should head over and see if she was there yet so they could start together... He had wanted a peek, and he had gotten it, so now... Now Yuki and him could explore together. It was gonna be great~!
He arrived at the front and bounced a bit. He was really excited today, and he wasn't sure why... It just... felt like it'd be a good day. Like nothing could go wrong.

Yukiko couldn't helped but recall the last time she had been to the manor as she made her way inside. It had been the first time she had met Usagi, or Karter, as he had introduced himself then (which had taken her a decent amount of time to piece together, all things considered). It was almost amusing to think about; both he and Theo possessed the same eagerness for exploring. Not that she liked to relate to two of them often. Although he had seemed charming when they had first met, Yukiko held very little fondness for Usagi in her heart.
But today wasn't a day to dwell on bitter feelings. She was going to spend the afternoon with Theo, and only Theo. The thought alone was enough to put a smile on the Ookami's face.
Once she was inside, Yukiko noticed that her companion was already there, most likely waiting for her. "You haven't been waiting too long, have you?" she asked as she strolled up beside him. She certainly hoped not.

Well he had BEEN there for fifteen minutes or so, but he had only really waited for a couple of them, and so he shook his head. "N-no," he smiled. "Not long at all." Besides, a little white lie.... wasn't a big deal. He hadn't explored very far anyway, the manor was amazingly big.
"Where, uh, where do you wanna start?" He stammered out, smile shrinking a bit at his verbal tick.

Yukiko hummed thoughtfully, hands clasped behind her back. "Hm... Why don't we just start down the hallway and peek into the different rooms? I haven't really explored the main house all too much." The manor was enormous, so there was sure to be plenty to look at along the way.

Theo's smile grew and he nodded. "Okay... that sounds fun!" And it... actually did. The was mostly just excited to talk and walk with Yuki. The Ookami was very smart and she even played music and he was really very surprised she liked to hang out with him. The Tora wasn't precisely talented at anything... But he was grateful.
"Let's go this way," he said, starting off in the opposite direction he had originally explored. He wanted to see more, and if it was new to both of them it'd be better.

Yukiko turned to follow Theo down the hall, smiling to herself all the while. Her companion's enthusiasm had always been infectious.
"It's amazing that this place looks almost untouched after all these years," the Ookami mused as she took in her surroundings. "I expected a lot more dust."

Theo traced a finger over a table in the corridor and held it up for inspection. No dust, no grime... "They must have people come in to clean it..." He observed, "Keep it maintained... if it's as old as we think then... uh, it's probably protected... sorta." There were still fights that broke out in territories, the manor included. Though oftentimes those fights were in the fields.
Still, he had heard of massive bloody fights INSIDE the manor as well. If that was the case, they did a fantastic job of cleaning up... Better than he had ever managed before. Blood was tricky.
He paused in front of a door. "Wanna try this one?" He asked Yuki, glancing towards the green-eyed teen to see what she'd like to do.

"Sure," the Ookami chimed, reaching towards the handle. "Why not?" A noise from the other side of the door caused her to pause abruptly. She stood still, listening, but dismissed it as simple paranoia in the end. "Let's see what's behind door number one." And with that, she swung it open.

A yell erupted from the room and Theo flinched back on instinct.
soften the blow don't let it hit dodge don't get hurt don't get hurt
The manor, it seemed, was not as deserted as the pair of explorers had hoped, and Theo gulped at the rage on the man's face. There was a purple band on his wrist. Kuma. His territory.
That gave him a right, as far as the city was concerned, to beat them senseless or kill them.
Theo, heart pounding with adrenaline, grabbed Yuki's arm and BOLTED back the way they came, there had to be somewhere to HIDE, somewhere to run to. Because if not? They were about as good as dead.

Yukiko could hear her frantic heartbeat pounding in her ears as the pair fled down the hallway. Just as they rounded the corner, she spotted an open door out of the corner of her eye. "This way!" she cried, tugging Theo into the room with her. It wouldn't be enough to simply stay here; they needed a better place to hide.
Breath heaving, the Ookami frantically searched the room. Seconds later, a nearby wardrobe caught her eye. She threw it open and began to climb in "In here, quick." Yukiko beckoned to Theo with wild, panicky gestures. "Maybe if we hide he won't find us."

Theo's heart nearly stopped in his chest at the sight of the wardrobe. He started shaking his head rapidly. He couldn't. No no no it was too small he wouldn't be able to BREATHE in there. No no no no no....
But the pounding of footsteps was getting closer to the door and if he DIDN'T then both he AND Yuki would wind up getting pounded into pulp and--
Caught between a rock and a hard place, and with eyes anxiously darting toward the door, Theo took a shaky breath and with a whimper clambered into the wardrobe, already certain this was a terrible idea.

Yukiko was too panicked to notice the fear on Theo's face while he climbed after her into the wardrobe. She pulled the door shut behind him, wincing at every small sound that it made in the process. Her chest hitched when the sound of footsteps was replaced by the turning of the door handle. There was a heavy stillness in the air as those same footsteps made their way into the room. Yukiko squeezed her eyes shut and held her breath, hoping, praying that they would not be found.
Seconds passed, but they felt more like hours. However, the footsteps eventually dissipated, continuing further down the hallway until they faded into silence.
"Thank God," she murmured, letting out a huge, relieved sigh. "I think he's gone." It was probably safe to come out, the Ookami figured. However, when she went to open the wardrobe, she found she could not do so. She jiggled door a few times, but to no avail.

Theo's heart stopped and his breath hitched as the door shut. Everything, EVERYTHING in his vision tunneled and pulsed and spun. There was no room there was no air he couldn't breath he couldn't move he couldn't breathe--
And while it felt like hours before the feet moved on, pure torture, it didn't compare to the rattling and general NOTHING that happened when Yuki tried to open the door. Because the door wouldn't open.
They were trapped.
They were trapped and Theo couldn't breath, his body shaking with repressed sobs as he fought down the urge to throw up. He was not eight anymore he wasn't ten he wasn't a kid but it still-- He was still unable to do ANYTHING--

Damn, looks like we're stuck. Yukiko sighed in frustration. She had her phone with her, but judging by the lack of bars she currently had it wasn't going to be much use. She glared at the screen, wracking her brain for a solution. Who would be able to get them out? Kaito knew where she was supposed to be going today, but she hadn't told him when she would be back. If she was lucky he might get worried and come looking for her, but that was kind of a long shot.
As the Ookami pocketed her phone, she noticed how freaked out her companion seemed. His shaking was almost audible in the darkness. "Theo?" she murmured, struggling to keep her voice steady. "Theo it's okay. He's gone, the door's just stuck. We're going to be fine, I promise."

There was just a high-pitched whine from Theo as he curled up into a little ball. He didn't care about the man he didn't care about getting beaten up he just didn't want to be stuck in this cabinet. He couldn't breathe in here he couldn't he was going to be left for dead no one would find them or miss them they'd die in here.
He buried his face in his knees, tears slipping free as he hiccuped for breath, what little air he drew in was shaky and gaspy. Anyone could see something was very wrong.
