The clicking of laptop keys were surprisingly loud in the early morning light in the common room of the dorms. Becca was seated comfortably in an armchair towards the eastern wall, facing north to avoid the glare of the rising sun while still benefiting from the light. Her legs were tucked up onto the chair, bare feet away from the floor with the small computer in her lap. She wasn't entirely dressed for the day, lounge pants instead of her usual jeans and her coat was in her room. Her hair was never brushed anyway, so it looked no different.
Pester was curled up beside her, purring overlapping with the quiet hum of the computer to make a comforting white noise. Becca's eyes flicked across the screen as her fingers danced over the keys. Entranced, and lulled into security from the fairly uneventful stay in the dorms, she missed the sound of footsteps.

Roman had always been an early riser, and today was no exception. He had been worried about waking Hajime up by making noise to get his clothes for the day, so for the moment he was just walking around in his pajama pants(he hated wearing shirts in his sleep, with how much he tossed and turned the collar always seemed to strangle him). He didn't think anyone would be up this early, but he heard clicking sounds in the common room area not too far ahead that proved him wrong.
Normally he would just try and ignore whoever it was and mind his own business, but when he saw who it was he felt sort of... obligated to say hi. This girl... she was part of the family now, right? Becky, or something like that. "Morning person too?" he asked as he got close enough.

The sheer force of the knee-jerk laptop-shutting likely should have cracked the device's screen. Becca's head whipped around to look at the new arrival, body instantly tilted away on reflex as if to sprint across the room. Pester, jostled from his cozy snooze gave a sharp mrow of surprise.
It took a second before Becca's posture relaxed, letting herself settle back into the chair as Pester hopped out to settle underneath the piece of furniture. "...It's a habit." She replied, voice a bit terse, though that was mostly irritation with herself. How had she let herself slip so far into thought that she let someone get that close to what she was doing?

Roman cringed a bit at the girl's physical response, he didn't mean to startle her... The blonde hesitated for a moment, deciding whether he should just leave her to whatever she was doing or not. Then again, there was a chance they'd be seeing each other enough to where he would HAVE to learn to talk to her, better start now and get the general awkwardness over with.
He sat down on a near by couch, glancing down at the laptop in her lap. "Roman." He said, reintroducing himself. "Don't think we really introduced ourselves right last time." Other people had done it for them, and while he himself wasn't an extremely talkative person, it still felt uncomfortable having people speak for him.

Ah, Roman... Yes, she remembered now. "Rebecca." She replied. The distance between them was too great for a shaking of hands so she didn't bother to extend one. "And I suppose you're right."
She had to remind herself that Roman was an ally before she bothered to open her laptop back up and return a portion of her attention to the screen. Her fingers tapped slower as she kept an eye out for Roman. "...You don't strike me as a morning person," she tried. Tekka had told her to at least TRY with the King family and its offshoots. As much as it grated on Becca's nerves, she would do that much. She owed it to the blond.

Roman chuckled a little and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, um, it seems like no matter how late I fall asleep I always wake up at the same time." He'd love to sleep in if he could, but his body just didn't let him. Though, the more he though about it, he slept through a lot of his classes when he decided to go to school, so that was something he thought.
"Well what about you?" He asked her. He didn't know where else to steer the conversation to, so he settled for that.

"I don't sleep much." She replied simply, letting her tapping slow from 'slightly impatient' to 'somewhat leisurely.' "Hurricane Otaku snores up a storm, just another reason to stay out of my room..." Well, it was a solid excuse at least. Frankly Becca hadn't bothered to find out her roommate's habits just yet. Mai Edeson wasn't really the most prominent person on her List.
Currently that slot was occupied by the girl she had met, and fought, in the halls the other day. Her upper arm was still bandaged and on display from the drag of the knife, and she'd likely have to change the dressing soon... And check the stitches, Kaz did a good job, though. He knew she hated hospitals. "Besides, I have more important things to do than sleep."
Roman didn't seem likely to make enemies with her, and Pester (judging from how the cat was now half-flopped on the other teen's lap) seemed to like him. Good enough for now.

Roman was a little surprised by the cat that decided to rest on his lap, but went a head and pet him a little, wouldn't hurt right? "More important than sleep?" He asked curiously, glancing to the girl's laptop. "Like what, surf the internet?" Roman had never really used computers all that much. With a single mom raising twins, him and Perri were lucky enough to get decent cellphones.
While he had already noticed the wrap on Becca's arm he decided not to say anything about it. Maybe later, when he felt more warmed up to her.

"I'm assuming you know the name 'Artemis Spiers?'" Becca began, twisting a bit so Roman could get a look at the screen. "I didn't know that was her name, then again, she doesn't know mine. I... let's say 'met,' her in the halls the day before last." The tapping picked up a bit as she scrolled what looked like a dossier.
"I expect she's either forgotten me entirely, or is likely finding out whatever she can about me." She finally, for perhaps the first time since first greeting Roman turned to look at him. "Considering I took a chunk out of her arm, I suspect it'll be the latter and not the former... And I like to know the people I piss off."

Roman's eyes widen a bit, and he felt a little bad for the small grin that wormed it's way on his face. "You BIT Artemis?" He asked, nearly laughing from pure amusement. Perri had gotten into fights with Artemis loads of times, and while most of them were verbal there were a couple of physical ones here and there. "That explains the bandage I guess."
He had to admit, he was pretty impressed, not that she had actually fought her but more to the fact that she was actually digging information up on her. "Find anything interesting?" The Spiers family was pretty damn secretive, most people weren't even sure where they got all their money from.

"She tasted terrible, I do NOT recommend cannibalism as a form of body disposal should you ever commit murder." A small smirk was on Becca's face for a second before slipping away again.
"As for information, your government has a lot of files on lockdown... But I know that NO ONE in that family works any sort of job that would acquire that level of wealth..." She paused, then reconsidered. "Well, unless they were a high-end prostitute, it's a very lucrative business..." She shook her head. "But I doubt that very much. Her father has been linked to fires, but there was never enough evidence for an arrest..."
Becca scrolled down a bit farther. "Most of this is still encrypted, but I can also draw from what I know happened before and during the fight if you'd like to hear the theories..."

Roman scooted a little closer and nodded. "Sure, I'm curious." Anything would be good to know about that family, maybe there was something they could use to get Daemon off Emma's back? Not likely, but somewhat possible.

"They're dangerous," Becca said, blunt as ever as she closed her laptop again to focus. "I mean, more than just their wealth. Artemis is a bitch, sure, but she carried a knife." She turned her head to focus on Roman. "You know what most girls carry if they're afraid of getting attacked? Mace, or a gun if the threat is enough. Both let you have some distance between you and your attacker."
She leaned back a bit, hands clasped together on her abdomen. "But she had a KNIFE, and she knew how to use it. Knives are only good if you know how to fight though, because if you can't get out of a grab then it's no good." She frowned. "But she had trouble shoving me off. Good form, no power. So she doesn't fight for defense... She does it because she ENJOYS it... Sadism, maybe..."
She let out a breath. "As for the rest of her family: Archer and Desiree Speirs are much more highly classified than she and her brother, Daemon. But as for him, I can't say anything until I've met him. Both he and his sister have clean records, but that doesn't mean they're good people."

The blonde teen sat back and listened to Becca. It made a lot of sense, he'd never really thought about it before. "Well, if you ever wanna meet Daemon all you need to do is follow Emma around, he's got a thing for her, it's kinda creepy." He'd witnessed a few times from a distance, the guy really didn't know when enough was enough.

Becca blinked. "Like father, like son..." She mused under her breath, only realize that perhaps that wasn't the best thing to say. She immediately spoke again, half hoping to cover her blunder and half hoping that it would direct the conversation away from the man. If he asked, she had a good response, but she'd prefer to avoid the slight if possible. She liked Roman well enough.
"Frankly I'd prefer to find him on his own. If he's around someone he wants to impress he won't do much outside of his best behavior..."
