Matsu frowned when the principal started speaking, he never really liked him. The blond had normally stayed out of trouble, and therefore never got too much on Tanaka's bad side, but he just flat out creeped Matsuda out.
Evangeline, a girl who even at her age was too stubborn to admit when being scared, went from holding Lucas's hand to clutching his shirt timidly. She puffed her cheeks up again, trying to send an evil glare at Principal Tanaka, though only succeeding in her brother laughing quietly and patting her head.

Mr. Tanaka went on speaking, oblivious to the glares and general uneasiness of the crowd. "Alright, as some of you were informed in our newsletter last week, the children will be divided into two groups before we break them into their classes this year. Children in third grade and up will proceed to the gymnasium, those in second grade and below should head to the cafeteria." Another smile, another shiver of fear down Aiden's spine. Still, at least he'd be able to stick with his new-found friend for a bit longer.

Matsuda's wide smile returned to his face at Mr. Tanaka introduction. This meant he could hang out with Aiden a little longer, that was always good! The blond looked back at his new friend when the principal had finished talking. "I'll show ya where the cafeteria is." he told him, starting to make his way to the cafeteria along with the rest of the huge crowd of second, first grade, and kindergardners.
Evangeline let go of Lucas the moment the crowd started moving, trying to make a break for it before her brother snatched the back of her dress and pulled her back for a moment.
"Don't 'cha need to go to school?" pouted the small girl. Lucas grinned and said a few things she couldn't hear from the noise of the rest of the crowd. He gave her a tight hug and kiss on the cheek(which she wiped off not even a moment later) before lightly pushing her forward and sending her off. And now that she was free, she could now go off and find the two boys she saw earlier.

Aiden wasn't too sure how it had happened, but one moment he was right behind Matsuda and the next he was gone, swept away by the large crowd of students. The brunette suddenly wished he was taller so that maybe he could find Matsuda, a second later an image of himself with a giraffe neck cropped up and he decided that he NEVER wanted to get tall if he would look like that. The promise didn't make finding Matsu any easier though as the young boy soon realized the hall was deserted. Had be been that caught up in his thoughts?
He stood there, looking around nervously before starting in a likely direction. It certainly sounded like there were moving people in that direction... What he didn't realize was that he was heading directly into the den of the elder students, for the Gym and the Cafeteria looked incredibly similar if one was to just look at the walls and doors around it.

Matsu had a hard time going through the crowd to get to the cafeteria, being pushed around ever way the crowd was going and all. "Aiden, are y-" he turned around and noticed the friend was no where to be seen. "Aiden!?" he shouted, hoping the younger boy could somehow hear him. He was about to holler again, but he got carried away by the crowd and was practically forced to go along with it. He flinched and held back tears on the corner of his eyes when some boys ran passed him and hit his bruise. The blond tugged on his sleeve once again as he as being swept into the cafeteria, anxiously hoping one of the grown ups would be able to show Aiden where to go.
While all this was going on, Evangeline was one of the many kids trying to run in the large group trying to go to... where was she suppose to go to again? Her confidence slowly but surely decreased until she was at the point of biting her nails. She knew Mother would hit her later for it, but she didn't know what else to do. Instead of asking for help, the little girl just went with the crowd, now at a slower pace than before due to nervousness.
After looking around a little bit, she noticed the kid from earlier, but he wasn't with the blond one for some reason. She ran over to where he was, getting pushed and shoved many times in the process.
"Hey, you!" she yelled out to get his attention. "Do... do ya know where we're s'possed to go?" she asked, slightly timid. Yeah, her confidence had been long gone at this point.

Aiden glanced at the crowd around him. Everyone looked older than before, and he was beginning to think that he was in the wrong group when he spotted the girl in the dress from earlier. At her question he just shrugged a little, the fear of cooties overpowered by his fear at getting lost. "I dunno..." He said softly scratching at his arm since he had stored his lunchbox in his backpack. Mama was trying to get him to stop doing it, but Mama wasn't here right now to get him to stop, though luckily his arm had healed from when he had made it bleed last week. Hopefully that wouldn't happen again...
"I don't think we went the right way though..." After all, they were the only two really small ones in the group at the moment. "Maybe we should ask a teacher?" He suggested, though right now the only one he saw was Principal Tanaka, and he really didn't want to talk to him. He was scary and his eyes looked at the younger kids funny...

Eva nodded, still biting her nails a little. "Yeah... but not the principal..." she trailed off. Then again, there was no other grown up near by that she could see.
The little blond sighed loudly, trying to get herself together. "Well... we don't need no teachers to help us!" she told him, smiling and looking as determined as ever. She took a hold of his wrist and drug him in another direction. "C'mon, we can find it all by ourselves!"

Aiden gave a small yelp as he was tugged away from the crowd. None of the adults stopped them, they were too busy dealing with a few of the rowdier boys who had gotten into some sort of fight over who was better: Batman or Captain America. The brunette soon began running alongside the girl though, refusing to let her lead the way when he was plenty capable of doing it too. Plus he was probably older. Only little kids tugged and pushed to get their way.
So the boy pulled his arm out of her grasp and walked next to her, realizing that he didn't know her name. "...I'm Aiden." He said after a moment, figuring that he didn't wanna only call her 'hey you' as they wandered through the halls.
Meanwhile a Kindergarten teacher realized that she was missing two students, one of whom had been signed in by a family member when they arrived, and began to alert the other faculty that they had at least one missing child.

It didn't bother Evangeline when he took his arm back, thought she did jerk her head back to him when he introduced himself. "Well heya, Aiden!" she giggled. "My name's Evangeline." she had just recently been able to pronounce her first name without difficulty, and Mother wouldn't let people call her or her brothers and sisters by nicknames or anything like that. She faintly remembered one time when Rachel had mistakenly called Lucas 'Luke', resulting in their mother slapping her and locking her in her room without diner that night. Ever since then, Evangeline made sure to call people by their real name instead of any sort of nickname.

Aiden thought on her name for a moment as they turned a corner, winding up in a room filled with books. Useless to the little boy, he couldn't read more than a few words yet... "Can I call ya Eva or Angie?" He couldn't pronounce the whole thing anyway, and he didn't want to look stupid.
He glanced around the room, nary a soul in sight. "I don't think we're gonna find a teacher here..." He observed, looking down a few rows. No, there was no one in that room at all, actually. All of the staff was either being briefed for what the year would entail or was busy sorting students.

The little girl bit her lip a little since her nails had been chewed off at this point. "Umm, sure, but don't let my brothers or sisters or Mother hear when they come to get me..." she trailed off sheepishly.
She looked around at the room they were in. Yuck, books. She hated reading, mainly because she was forced to practice everyday and she barely got by reading half a page before she'd give up. Ayaka would normally help her, but Evangeline was never really too fond of her super smart big sister, it annoyed her how much of a know it all she tend to be.
"Ummm," she muttered, looking around until she heard the sounds of a bunch of people not too far off. It was coming from outside the door on the opposite side of the large room. "Let's see what's over there." she suggested, beginnin to walk in the direction of the door.

Aiden padded behind her, looking around the room. Shelves upon shelves of books, none much thicker than his thumb and all neatly arranged. He wondered how long it took them to bring them all in... he hazarded a guess at a bazllion years. They approached the other door and the boy pushed at it but it didn't budge. "It's locked..." He frowned at it, trying to will it to be open. He wanted to find Matsu, Eva probably didn't even like cartoons and comic books.

Eva pouted for a moment. "Lemme try." she said, trying to push the door. No luck. She then tried pressing her back against it and tried putting all her weight against it to open it. Unfortunately she didn't really weigh much at all and all she managed to do was slip and fall on her butt.
"Rats!" she exclaimed, folding her arms across her chest. She looked up at Aiden from her spot on the floor. "What now?" she asked him, trying real hard not to bit her lip again. She would already be in enough trouble when she got home.

Aiden shrugged and looked for another door. "Maybe we can go around?" He said, beginning to wander around the edges of the large room, looking for any sort of opening or door. He pretended like he was a detective for a moment or two, or Indiana Jones. He decided he liked being Indy better and scrambled up onto a shelf to get a better view, the theme running through his head.
The brunette clambered down after a moment and pointed to the left. "There's another door this way, Eva!" He exclaimed happily, even though he had no clue where it led to.

Eva hopped up on her feet and dashed over to where Aiden was at. "Alright!" she cheered when she got there. "Let's go see where it leads!" she said, tugging him along by the wrist once again. She liked being the leader, it made her feel big and important.
