Fall had just begun to descend upon the city of Hatsu Itonami as Aiden waited nervously at his bus-stop amongst one or two other children who were all at least a year older. The stop was right by his house, they lived on the corner of the street which was right where it stopped by every day. His parents were both either ill or at work and unable to see him off, hence his nerves and his iron grip on his blue lunchbox and small backpack.
He glanced anxiously around at the other children who had all seemed to start up a game of tag before the bus came. He just watched, a little scared of the elder boys (and of the girls especially, for Aiden had heard through the grapevine of horrible things called 'cooties' and he hadn't had his cootie shot yet) and hopped into the bus as it pulled up.
The kindergartener took a seat near the middle of the long yellow vehicle, watching as the others all hurtled at top-speed for the seats farther back. He hugged his things close, wondering where the seatbelts were as the bus moved along to its next stop.

Matsuda was sitting on the school bus on a seat by himself. The second grader's friends had tried talking to him but noticed he seemed a little weird. This said, they abandoned him for a good seat in the back. The little blond was normally very talkative with his friends, but his mind was still thinking about the night before. He pulled at his long sleeve nervously in attempt to hide the bruise starting to swell.
As the bus came to a stop once again to load up on more kids, he couldn't help but notice one of the kids who had come on. Matsu guessed him to be in kindergarden probably, mainly because of his appearance and how nervous he looked. "Hey," he said to slightly younger kid. "You look kinda sick, are you okay?"

Aiden started a little at a nearby voice. He looked up to see a blond boy a little older than he was sitting in the seat across the aisle from him. "I'm... f-fine..." The young brunette said, trying to smile at the other boy. "Mama's just sick is all so I didn't get ta see her before I left..." Something he was really regretting. Daddy had told him not to wake her up because she needed to sleep, so he hadn't even gotten a good-morning hug or a particularly good breakfast.
His manners (one of the most important things you'll ever need to know, his Mama had said) nudged him to speak again and introduce himself, and in the same soft and slightly-shy tone he had when talking to most people for the first time he said, "My name's Aiden King, who 're you?"

"Ooh," Matsuda replied. "It's okay, my daddy's a little sick right now from the yucky water he drinks." He knew it was yucky because he had actually gotten a little curious and taken a small sip of what was left of his daddy's bottle once. It didn't taste like the bottled water they'd give him and his sister, and his momma had gotten onto him when she found out he had taken a small taste of it.
"And my name's Matsuda Megumi, but you can call me Matsu if ya want." he smiled cheerfully at the brunette. "Do you wanna sit over here?" he asked, pointing to the empty spot beside him. Maybe he and Aiden could be friends.

Aiden nodded, eyes wide in surprise. Maybe school wouldn't be so bad if everyone was like Matsuda... Matsu, he corrected himself. "Okay!" He agreed, smiling as he gathered his stuff because someone kept kicking the back of his seat. He wasn't sure who it was but from the giggling he was pretty sure it was a girl.
He stumbled to get over to the seat as the bus began to slow, managing to trip and land square in the seat. Surprised but not deterred, Aiden smiled up at the blond as he began to relax and become more talkative. Much more talkative. His mama hadn't taught him all of his manners yet. "So what's school like? Do you have any brothers or sisters? Is the food good? Do you like Spiderman? Do ya wanna be friends?" The younger boy swung his legs as he sat, as he feet dangled an inch or so off of the floor of the bus.

Matsu blinked a few times, eyes slightly wider at Aiden's sudden burst of questions. "Ummm..." he began, trying to get his words together. "School's kinda boring, except for recess, it's really fun! I got a little sister and Momma's gonna have another baby soon, don't know if it'll be a brother or sister though." but he was hoping for a baby brother. "Uhh, the food's a little weird, not like how Momma cooks." his eyes seemed to light up a little as he answered the last two questions. "Duh, Spiderman's awesome! And yeah, let's be friends!" the little blond exclaimed happily. This was awesome, he had a new friend!

Aiden smiled, he had already made a friend! This was great! "I have a little brother named Jack." He decided to explain, smiling before asking another question. "What's recess like?" He was slowing his barrage of questions now that the most pertinent ones had been asked. Matsu liked Spiderman, so all was good. Meanwhile the school bus had just finished up its last stop and began the short drive to the school.

Matsu thought for a moment, though only so he could pick out his favorite things about recess, there was so many! "We normally go outside if it ain't raining, the playground's got slides and swings and seesaws and monkey bars. We play alotta games like tag, too. There's also another game some of the big kids play, but they won't let us play with them." he pouted at the thought. He had over heard some fourth graders last year call it Wall Ball and it looked like a ton of fun! Matsu hoped he was old enough to play it this year, but then again, would they let Aiden play? Probably not, and he didn't want to leave his new friend playing by himself.
Oh well, he'd just have to hope for next year or so.

Aiden listened intently, enthralled, though there was one thing that was bugging him just a little. "...do you play kickball?" He asked, a little scared that the response would be 'no.' He was good at kickball, he was fast and he could kick pretty well, and he knew how to play, which was important. A few kids had taught him to play a few months ago before they moved away, and he had seen a few people in the clans participate in it too. If they didn't play it at school, Aiden was fairly certain, or as certain as his youth would allow, he could teach them.

Matsu nodded and smiled at Aiden. "Yeah! We'd get to play it in PE sometimes, and then we'd go to recess and get in the same teams and play again." the blond wasn't the best at the game, but at least he knew the rules, and that was always good.
The bus came to a stop at the school just as Matsu was about to make another comment. Forgetting what he was going to say before, he looked out the window for a second as the other kids were scrambling to get out. "Might wanna wait 'til most the others get out." he told his new friend. He knew from experience that racing to be one of the first out the bus could result in an owwie or two.

The younger boy nodded and waited until most of the other children were off the bus before he dared step back into the aisle. All who was left on the bus seemed to be a few of the older children at the back of the bus, and they didn't seem like they wanted to get out very soon. Aiden made his way out of the bus and milled around the front of the building, waiting for Matsu. A few grown-ups were keeping an eye on the kids, but for the most part this was fairly unstructured. The brunette guessed that the bell hadn't quite rung yet or that someone was going to talk to them all.

Matsu followed after Aiden out of the bus, pulling his back backpack on over one of his shoulders. When they saw the huge crowd of both kids and grown ups, Matsuda couldn't help but frown slightly. His dad had promised to take him to school be there on his first day, but that was before he started drinking the strange water. He stayed close with Aiden, seeing ad though none of his other friends were in sight and he didn't want Aiden getting lost on his first day.
Not too far off from where the two boys were stood a little blond girl, her hair was pulled up in a pony tail and she was wearing a pretty blue dress with white slippers. She didn't like dresses, but mother always said that as a young lady she had to. The hand she was holding onto belonged to her big brother, a slightly tall boy for a fourteen year old with his blond hair spiked in different directions. The little girl looked up at her brother, pouting slightly.
"Lucas, you don't gotta hold my hand!" the kindergardner told him. "I'm a big girl!"
Lucas just laughed in response. "Sorry, Evangeline, Mother didn't want me losin' you."
The little girl puffed her cheeks up in frustration, spotting two boys close by. One had to be her age, a brunette, while the other seemed to be slightly older. She shot a finger in their direction. "But, but they don't got someone watchin' them!" she continued to holler. Lucas sighed, but still kept his hold on her hand.

Aiden decided to stick close to Matsuda until the crowd dissolved, after all, Mama wouldn't want him getting lost. He had to be a good boy while she was sick or else his Daddy would get mad at him, and he didn't want to get locked up in his room again or not be able to play with Jack. His little brother was just starting to be really fun, even if he couldn't play ALL of the games right yet.
A shrill yell jolted him out of his mental meandering and he looked over to see a blond girl pointing at them and yelling to an older boy. Or was he a grown-up? He looked like he could be either. He was TALL enough to be a grown-up. Still, his mind made the connection between 'girl' and 'cooties' quick enough and he edged around Matsu until he was between him and the girl. It wasn't that he was scared or anything, he was a big boy! He had ridden the bus with almost no help and he could tie his shoes and count to twenty-four! He puffed up a little, then deflated. He still hadn't had a cootie shot though, and who knew what would happen if he got infected with the girly virus...

Matsu stopped in his tracks when he heard the loud shout not too far off. He then noticed Aiden move a little, realizing that the younger boy must have gotten word of the cooties. The little blond boy was honestly starting to question if cooties were really real at this point, for he had seen plenty times where a girl would run up to him or his friends a give them a small peck on the cheek before running off and giggling with a group of girls. Nothing had happened to him so far(well, he didn't think so at least). Then again, maybe only certain girls had the cooties and he had been lucky enough to not come across one yet. Yeah, that must have been it.
"C'mon, Aiden, I think they're gonna tell us what class we're in or somethin'." he said, waving the brunette to come along.
Evangeline Shimazaki got a quick look of the younger of the two boys, noticing that he was probably one of many boys that believed in 'cooties'. She knew for a fact that it wasn't real, having been told so by her three big sisters(mainly Avery and Rachel, Ayaka didn't seem to really care about any of that). She also learned that it was a fun way to start a game of chase on the playground, and she was instantly glad for the blue shorts she was wearing under her dress(Mother's instructions once again). She started dragging Lucas along to the front of the crowd, wanting to find out where she was suppose to go. The sooner she was in class, the sooner she could show how much of a big girl she was, she bet none of the other kids in her class could count to fourty, after all!

Aiden nodded and moved with the elder boy, trying to ignore whatever look he might have been getting from the little blond girl. Ducking though the crowd (and sparking a few feelings of jealousy as he saw other children getting goodbye hugs from their parents, and the occasional treat to go with their lunch) led the pair to where a small group of men and women stood assembled. Judging by their bright smiles and nametags, Aiden was pretty sure that they were the teachers and staff.
True enough, a balding man in his late-thirties soon clapped his hands for attention. "Alright everyone!" He announced in a cheerful voice. "It's time to get started, as most of you may remember I'm Principal Tanaka and I hope we'll have a wonderful year at Hatsu Itonami Elementary." He gave a friendly smile, though his gaze lingered on a few of the students a little too long and sent a shiver down Aiden's spine. He didn't like this guy, something about him scared the eldest King.
