Tekka laughed and puffed out her chest in less of an attempt at pride and more of an attempt at comicality. "Running from enraged gang members and security guards does that." She giggled, letting the show fall and turning back to the Laz0r Plaza. "Anyway," She said, striding towards a worker. "We've got more important things to do, like fire imaginary guns at under-trained civilians."

Hotaru let out a small, nervous laugh. "Gang members... right..." she said before shaking it off. She smiled a little more at Tekka's next comment. "Yeah, let's go!"

"Yay guns!" shouted Kage, giving a double thumbs-up, even thought he didn't really care too much for guns. Still, they were imaginary, and he was with his girlfriend and another friend, so why the hell not? He stared up at the various types of weapons and armor available and gave a low whistle at how expensive some of them were to wield. "Eh, Tekka...?" he asked, pointing to a sign that said something about exchange from Points to cash. "What's the point of those, well... Points? Is it how you get those fancy weapons?"

"Yup!" The blond grinned, stepping up beside her boyfriend.. "I think it's like this, you start out with the basic gear and then when you sorta defeat people in the game you get points, the points add up to let you buy armor and better weapons and whatnot." Or you could just buy the points, but that wouldn't be any fun.
"I think people are matched up according to rank, which is how many games you've won." She scratched her chin. "I think you can either have teams or go free-for-all. And you get to choose between different settings." This last bit she had gotten from reading a flier she had found tacked up when the place had first opened.

Kage tapped the glass that blocked him from a giant set of gauntlets thoughtfully.
"So if we play on teams..." he mumbled. "We could own everyone, because you'd get the giant's-eye view! Then those shiny gloves and that light-saber could be mine... or yours!"

Hotaru just stood and listened to the two for a moment. She secretly wished Jack was there, it wouldn't feel quite as awkward that way just standing there with another couple. She shook off the thought as best she could, Tekka and Kage were her friends after all.
"So what're you waiting for?" she asked them. "Let's get in there already!"

Tekka gave another whoop and practically skipped to the desk labeled 'Registration and Armory,' tugging Kage and Hotaru with her. She had waited forever to play a game here, and now was her chance.
The man running the desk smiled at them. "Game for three?" He guessed, judging from the general excitement-level of the group.

Kage nodded in response to the clerk's question and handed him a sizable wad of cash. The giant then proceeded to take up the entire counter space with his bulk, to prevent Tekka from paying an arm and a leg for the apparently virtual experience.
"Yup, game for three," vocally added Kage. The clerk took the money and looked at his ‘ enormous customer, appearing to be ready to give instructions. The look on the eldest Tora's face connoted that one would be needed, so the clerk began happily.
“You’ll start the game with a vest and a pistol,” he said. “Firing the pistol won’t do anything until you walk through any of those gates.” The clerk turned and indicated a set of numerous shimmering portals. “Once inside, the virtual reality game will begin. Each player has a health meter that will appear over his or her head, and each part of his or her body will deplete your health meter by a different amount if it’s hit by lasers.” There was a row of monitors above the service counters, displaying footage of such examples. A muscular man with wild red hair took a hit to the arm, and the bar of red light above his head dropped a little. On another screen, a portly teenage boy with shaggy blonde hair shot a wispy middle-aged woman in the chest, and her health meter drained to almost empty. “On top of that, each player also receives three lives. Once you run out of lives, you’ll have to exit the game. You can gain extra lives by finding heart icons in some rooms, or by purchasing them with points you gain by defeating or saving other players.”

Hotaru nodded as she listened to the instructions. Simple enough, she thought to herself. "Alrighty, then." she grinned. "I think I got it, ya'll ready?" she asked her fellow clan mates, anxious to start playing as soon as she could. She had never played before, and it always sounded like fun to her!

Tekka nodded emphatically. "Yeah! Let's do this!" She hopped up and down. "We're gonna be a team, right?" She looked at her clanmates, "Or do ya want it to be a free-for-all?" Personally, she was hoping for a team, she probably would do fine on her own, but all of them together would be unstoppable!

Kage smiled down at Tekka and nodded in response to her question. He'd worked alone for too long already, and rather enjoyed being part of a group for once. Granted, it had happened a couple years ago, but there was no Laz0r Plaza involved...
"Of course we'll be a team, love," he said. "With your stealth, my abilities of distraction, and Phoenix's... epicness...?" The giant just realized the terrible truth of the matter, which was of course that he knew hardly anything about the redhead. "Uh... anyway, there's no way we can lose if we're on a team!" The clerk, overhearing the little speech, nodded.
"If you're playing a Team Game, then you'll need to go down the hallway to your left, to the Team Arena. In a Team Game, one player can share his or her lives with the rest of the team, so as to keep the game going longer." With that, he handed over three vests; one very small, one a bit larger, and the last one enormous. Three futuristic-looking pistols were set on top of the pile. "Enjoy your game!"

Hotaru waved at the man. "We will!" she said, taking her vest and pistol. A grin slowly made its way on her lips as they got ready to start the game. "So, um, am I the only one of us that hasn't played this before...?" she asked Tekka and Kage, hoping that she wasn't the only one lacking experience in this.

"Never done it in my life!" Tekka exclaimed. She had played regular laser tag once or twice, but this kinda kicked those out the window. "The way I figure it, we point, shoot, and collect power-ups." She grinned. "Ya know, like a video game." With that, Tekka tugged on her vest, wriggling a bit until she was completely in and popped her arms out.

"Can't say that I have," answered Kage as he put his arms through the holes in the massive vest. Whereas Tekka's and Phoenix's had been the kind that could be slipped on, Kage's was too large, and had to be put on like a life jacket. "Shouldn't be that hard, though. Like Tekka said; point, shoot, look for Fire Flowers and green Mushrooms." The giant took Tekka's hand and began to walk down the hallway that had been indicated by the clerk. The hallway soon opened up into a kind of vestibule with a set of shimmering doorways, a couple of them set on each wall. "So, uh... Which one do we go through?"
