Kage couldn't help but crack a grin. He looked out at the surf again, however, trying to puzzle out a means to an end. An idea flickered in his mind - one that might not prevail, but still a hope.
"What if we challenged Rex and someone else to a Tag Duel?" he suggested. "Any Deck - even a sparkly one - can be formidable, but in a Tag Duel, the chain is as strong as the weakest link." The plan was itself a weak link, but anything was better than just sitting there. "I can guess that you're probably a little hesitant to stand up to Rex, but no one should have to live in fear."

Caitlyn was about to protest, and then she grinned. "My goodness, I like that idea," she said, looking impressed. "We would have to get Rex to agree, of course, and find someone willing to tag with him, but..." She shook her head. "I'm not scared to stand up to him, per se...okay, maybe a little," she confessed.

"That's the nice thing about having friends..." Kage replied, grinning at Caitlyn. "First of all, they don't care if you're scared, which I don't. Second, they'll always stand with you. You can count on me, in other words." Holding his coin up to the light, the young man began to ponder things. A minute or two later, he looked back at his friend. "Does Rex have any friends other than you? Y'know, friends who'll fight with him?" Kage was actually quite surprised by Caitlyn's reaction to his idea. Given his nature, most people considered the wanderer to be a dreamer - a crazy guy with crazy ideas. Perhaps this girl could see some of the gears that turned in his head...
(OOC: I keep almost calling Rex a her... ha.)

Caitlyn nodded. "Correction. That's the nice thing about having close friends." She smiled. "And..thank you," she said, "for listening and for saying I can count on you." She watched hi, and she couldn't help but like the way his mind worked. "...Not that I know of..." She replied, considering. She was prone to crazy ideas herself, and while she was willing to admit that this likely wouldn't work out, there was no reason not to consider it...

Kage had to think this over a little more. If Rex didn't have any other friends, then who would play the role of the fourth Duelist? Perhaps a little more planning was in order. He turned to Caitlyn, a spark in his eye.
"If Rex doesn't have any friends to stand by him..." he began, a grin starting to spread on his face. "Perhaps we should... make one for him. You've got other friends, right?"

Caitlyn blinked. "I do, yes..." She agreed. "Hrm...I think I might understand what you're getting at...." She considered for a moment. "I could talk to Rex, maybe introduce him to some of my other friends...Huh. You are a devious man, Kage Jernus."

Kage looked at her, a grin emblazoned on his face.
"Devious..." he considered. "I like that description. You'll really think so when I tell you the next part." The young man flipped his coin high into the air, watched its shimmering surface flash in the sunlight, and caught it. "Get one of your friends to Duel on your team, 'cause I'm gonna be Rex's Tag buddy."

Caitlyn blinked. She let herself process what he had said for a moment, and then her brief expression of confusion turned into a wide smirk. "Definitely devious," she said. 'I believe I've found my King of Swords,' she thought, shaking her head a bit.

"I'll take that as a compliment," Kage answered, his grin still firmly in place. "I figure if I can hold my own in a Duel against him, maybe we can become friends. Of course... this means you'll have to challenge Rex yourself." The young man looked at Caitlyn, trying to read her face for consent or qualm. "Are you up for that?"

Caitlyn gave the slightest nod. "I'm game," she said. "Besides, I'd like to see how well my Ladies can stand up to his Fairies. And I think I have an idea as to who my partner might be. I recently met someone who may be nearly as odd as I am," she laughed.

"Hey, whatever works," shrugged Kage. "You actually have the easy part, y'know? I've gotta make friends with this Rex guy, and he sounds pretty... standoffish." He considered asking who this oddball friend of Caitlyn's was, but this was a very shifty illusion - it had to go down just right for everything to work, and if Rex knew about Kage and Caitlyn being friends, things could get... difficult. "I think there's just one more thing that we need to do before our plan goes into action," the young man continued, looking at his friend and smiling. "We need to make absolute certain that you can beat me in a Duel, so what do you say, Caitlyn?" Kage reached inside his jacket pocket and brought out his Deck, the blue sleeves shining dully in the sunlight. "You ready to... throw down?"

Caitlyn shrugged. "Personally, I think he's really not all that horrible. I wish you good luck in finding him, though." She said. She stood up, the slightest hint of a smirk now on her face. "Oh, and what's that?" She asked, having an idea even before he said it. "Kage, I'm always ready." She considered briefly using her newest, darkest deck, but there was no way that it would be the deck she used in the tag duel. It hadn't been tested nearly enough. She reached in and puled out her Fortune Ladies. "I beat you before. I'll do it again," she said, confident.

Kage felt a jolt of positive energy go through him at hearing Caitlyn's confidence. This was the attitude he wanted from her - the kind of mindset she'd need to take on Rex and his Fairies. The young man decided then that he definitely liked his friend's determination, as well as her ability to adapt. Kage held out the ornate coin to her.
"Wouldy you like to flip, or may I this time?" he asked, a little spark showing in his eyes. Nof often did he get to flaunt his parlor tricks with the special silver piece, and it seemed to amuse those he showed it to.
(OOC: Sorry if it seems like I'm stalling, but I forgot to bring my Deck home this weekend... T_T)

[It's alright, stall all you need to if you don't have your deck xD]
Caitlyn gestured to Kage. "Go ahead and flip," she said. She loved watching Kage's tricks with the coin, even if it could mean that he cheated a little when flipping it. She slid her deck into her disk and activated it.

Kage followed Caitlyn's suit and inserted his own Deck, causing the Life Point counter on it to light up and read 8000. He held the coin in his right hand, wedged between his forefinger and middle finger. "Tails," he called solemnly, and flicked the fingers that were holding the coin so that it flew toward his left side. In a fluid motion, the young man made a swift clockwise circle, somehow causing the coin to do the same in the opposite direction. When Kage faced his friend again, the coin was spinning rapidly on the tip of his right index finger. He placed his left hand on his right elbow and slid it quickly upward so that the fingers of that hand sent the coin rocketing into the air. The sunlight caught on the Braille dots of the coin, causing it to sparkle as it turned. The piece of silver finally began to descend, and Kage caught it with a precise clap. He turned his hands so that the coin would be flat, and lifted the top one, revealing the side with the "H" imprinted on it. "Well, well, well..." remarked Kage with a smirk. "Called it wrong, as usual. Your pick for first move, I s'pose." (OOC: I actually have my Deck now, so let's do this!
