Kairi Valor's black hair was plastered to her face, and her clothes stuck to her body. Okay, she didn't go sword training on purpose. Actually, she'd only taken her weapon in case something had happened......And then she'd gotten lost.
Of course, these were escape routes, and she'd walked pretty far, so she assumed, since she was out, why not train? And so she was.
She was smiling her famous large grin, and was swinging her sword in a sideways arc, before twirling and swinging her sword in the opposite direction.
She didn't need a sparring partner, actually, she'd rather not, considering her clumsiness, it was a miracle she didn't hurt herself! But watching her train, one wouldn't think she was clumsy at all.
But that could just be the warrior spirit talking. The moment the sword was sheathed, she was clumsy Kairi again, but for now, she was a woman with a sword, she was a warrior.

With his earphone plugged in and his music blasting in his ear, Maru walked down the road with a blank expression. It seemed today was going slowly to him. Since waking up, he knew it would be dull. So why was he outside? Didn't matter now, did it.
He continued walking until he noticed that a bunch of people started forming on the street. He turned down an alley way and went down that path, deciding that other people was probably not the best thing to deal with.
Not seeing the stairs, he tripped and let out a yell as he fell down to the very bottom. Landing hard on his bottom, he whispered ow. Then, he slowly got up. Rubbing his back, he noticed he was staring right at a girl swinging a sword around. Oh jeez, he thought. Talk about 'dropping in.'

Kairi swung her sword upwards, and as she moved around the area, she almost looked as if she were dancing. "Why am I only clumsy when I'm not swinging a sword?"
And it wasn't until she turned around, that she noticed the boy on the ground. For a moment, she blinked, and then her face slowly became beet red.
"Oh!!! I'm so sorry, I didn't notice anyone was there!" Sheathing her sword on her waist, she looked him over, before striding over and holding out a hand. "Are you hurt, are you okay?"
She smiled widely. "Normally I'm the clumsy one all the time, but it's nice to know I'm not alone."

Maru continued watching the girl swing the sword around. He laughed a bit when she yelled something about being clumsy. However, she couldn't have been as clumsy as he looked right now. When they met eyes, he blushed a little when she blushed.
She put the sword away and came towards Maru. She held out a hand and he took it, smiling at her and shaking it gently. "No, I'm not hurt" he said, smiling wider. "Thanks. I'm Maru, by the way."
Again she had called herself clumsy. Maru just chuckled and shook his head. "You don't seem clumsy," he told her. "I've never seen anyone handle a sword that nicely. I'm the clumsy one for falling down stairs."

The woman smiled and nodded towards him. "The name's Kairi, Kairi Valor."
Kairi absolutely glowed at the compliment of her sword training. "Thank you! Although, you haven't seen my clumsiness in action! Just ask around, you'll get something from someone eventually."
Smiling, she pointed up the stairs. "I'm not bothering to even go back up. I'll just fall right back down."
So, instead, she sat, leaning against the wall, her sword leaning on the wall next to her. She motioned for Maru to take a seat in front of her. "Do you do swordsmanship?"

Maru nodded when she told him her name. "Nice to meet you, Kairi," he said, grinning. He seemed to make her happy when he complimented her sword technique.
Then, started laughing when she mentioned her clumsiness again. "Is it really that bad?" he asked.
When she pointed to the stairs, Maru turned and looked, listening to what she said. "Well, you should at least try. Use the walls as support."
Kairi took a seat and motioned for Maru to sit by her. He nodded and sat down. "No, but I've always wanted to learn."

He said the magic words: he wanted to learn swordsmanship. Kairi's face lit up like a child on Christmas. "Really? You do?"
She clapped her hands before nodding her head towards the stairs. "And yes, I really am that clumsy, and don't worry, I'll manage to get back up somehow. I like it here, though."
She was still grinning happily, as she took a glance at her sword. Something happened, then. Her smile became softer, and her eyes more open so one could see every emotion swirling in them.
Her voice was soft when she spoke. "If you want to learn, I have to ask some questions.......Could you have enough faith in you to trust the sword in your hands, not as a weapon your using, but as a sword, a being all on it's own?"

"Yes. I do. It looks cool," Maru told her. He nodded when she looked at the stairs again. "Okay, I'll take your word for it." Maru found it a bit funny.
Maru noticed her expression get softer. He tilted his head, confused as to what she could be thinking. When he was asked if he would treat the sword as a being, he nodded rapidly. "Of course," he said.
(OOC: done on phone, so yeah kinda short I know)

The smile on her face could have ended world hunger, it was so happy. "Good. You have to believe a sword is more than just a sword."
Kairi's fingers softly touched her own blade. "They have to be companions, friends, the one thing you can trust that will never betray you. You have to believe in each other."
As quick as it had come, Kairi returned to her usually bubbly self, and turned her attention back toward Maru. "Uh, sorry. I sometimes get carried away when I talk about my sword."

"Companions, huh?" Maru asked, looking at her blade. She seemed to like it very much. Believe in each other, he thought. Maru came back to attention about the same time she did, not even knowing he zoned out. "Oh, it's cool."
He looked back at her blade. "So, it's a spiritual type of thing or something?" he asked. All of her talk made it seem more and more like a pact.

Kairi smiled, and hesitantly nodded. "It's both strength and mental will. You have to have the mind to be strong. It also has a lot to do with the personality of people, because each person is different."
she had watched his gaze flicker to her sword, but could not discern his thoughts, so, with a smile, she laid her sword deftly across his lap. "Go on. Take her out of her sheath."
Kairi smiled. "Just take a look, and tell me if you see anything, or feel something, or even hear anything. You never know, you might just learn something you never knew before."
Kairi smiled rather sheepishly, rubbing the back of her head. "Then again, maybe I'm just crazy!"

Well she was right about one thing. Everyone was different. Maru differed from her. She placed her sword on him and told him to take it out. He grabbed the hilt and slowly removed it. He held it up and looked at the blade.
He looked up and down at the blade with a confused look. How exactly was he supposed to do this thing? "Uh..." He shook his head, telling Kairi nothing happened. Then, he just shrugged.

Kairi laughed, and motioned for him to hand her the blade. "I'll have to get you a blade that fits you."
Once the blade was placed back in her hands, the sword seemed to glow. Kairi looked at the blade fondly before taking the sheath and sheathing it, leaning it back against the wall.
She turned back to him and giggled. "You probably think I'm silly. It's okay to admit it, I am silly!"

Maru smiled as he handed her the sword. He gasped a bit when it started glowing in her hands. The she put it in the sheath and said she was silly. He chuckled at her words. "Well, you kept saying you were clumsy," he said. "Yes. You are silly. But at least you're not boring. Boring people suck."
He thought back about her finding him a sword. "C-can we go now?" he asked. He kept glancing at her, then back at her sword, and then her again. "Sorry if I seem too eager," he told her. "Is that a bad thing?"

Kairi smiled, and ruffled his hair, like she did with most people. "No. I am not your enemy. If I were an enemy, then, of course, you'd have to be calm, but we are friends, I'm sure."
Still smiling, she promptly nodded, and stood to her feet, motioning for him to stay where he was. Slowly, she pulled a sword from the right side of her skirt that had remained hidden, in case of emergency.
Smiling, she sat back down, and handed it to him. The sword was crafted beautifully. The sheath of the sword was metal, and black metal at that. The hilt was metal, and black, with red Japanese carvings on both sides.
The right read, "Hope and faith....." The left, continuing, read, "Shall guide you through."
An extravagant metal surrounded where hilt met sheath, forming the shape of two dragons intertwined. Smiling, she gestured towards the blade. "You can have it. I didn't know why I brought it, and other than the one I have now, that's my last one. I guess maybe it was meant for you."
