Kairi smiled softly. "Then follow your instinct, and let your friend guide you. A team works together, after all."
She looked to her own blade. "Working alone gets lonely, and boring. I don't normally bring her into public with me."
Kairi turned to him with a sheepish smile. "I didn't know anyone was going to be coming through here."
She cocked her head to the side, smiling. "Well, I'll teach you, but you'll have to start from the basics, no matter how ridiculous it may seem. Everything will help you in the end."

"Follow my instincts?" Maru asked. "My instincts tell me I need help." After a little chuckle, he looked down at his sword. He zoned out from Kairi and focused only on it. Guess we're teammates right? he said mentally. He smiled and looked back up at Kairi. "I don't care. I'll do whatever it takes," he said.
"Wait. How ridiculous are they?" There was always something wrong when that came out of someone's mouth. Maru had to know before getting himself into it. Oh boy.

Kairi laughed softly. "Oh, nothing too ridiculous, or pride hurting. Though this is in my opinion." She smiled. "Well, one thing you need to do, other than give your best friend name, is to hear them."
Kairi shrugged with a bright smile. "You must hear him, or you will not be able to do anything. Talking is one thing. Hearing your blade talk back is another. It is not physical, or mental even. You will just hear it. Everywhere, and nowhere, all at the same time."
Leaning over, she straightened out his ruffled hair. "You don't need to tell me you heard him, or what he said. All you need to do is hear him. You have to have a lot of unwavering faith in this, or you won't hear anything, and the connection between you and your blade will be like if you were to fight an entire Imperial army by yourself."

"Hear him?" Maru looked back down to his sword. The only thing he heard was it call his name. And that was for the one second he held it first. Maybe that's how he knew it would be his. But how would he get it to talk to him again? He didn't even know if it had a personality he should be aware of. And if it did, what type of soul was it. "Um... that might take a while," he admitted, chuckling and smiling sheepishly. He smiled as she fixed his hair she messed up in the first place. He needed faith in his sword to hear it talk back. I'll give you all the faith you need, he thought, looking at it.

Kairi laughed. "Well, you can't wield a sword in one day. I'll give you all the time you need. But, if you can't hear the voice of your sword, it may take a very long time."
Smiling, she patted him on the head. "But I believe you can do it. So don't give up."

Maru shrugged and smiled at her words. "Yeah, I suppose," he said, looking back down. Then he quickly faced her again. "I know you said not to tell you, but it said my name when I grabbed it." Rubbing the sheath, he took his gaze off of Kairi. "Maybe it won't take as long as I thought."

Kairi nodded, a large smile on her face. "I'm glad you told me. Curiosity is another one of my best suits, along with being clumsy."
Chuckling, she cocked her head to the side. "Ah yes. The name is the first thing you should hear. If not, then the sword, more than likely, has not chosen you." She patted him on the head again. "I'm proud of you, your doing well to hear the name."
She made a 'hmm' sound. "I don't think it will take long at all either. The sword's name, what is it again?"

Maru laughed when she said she was curious. He was patted on the head for saying that. Then she asked for the swords name. "Mugendai," Maru answered. He stratched the back of his head and looked to the side. "It just came to my head when it called out to me." He remembered she told him to have faith.

Kairi laughed. "Yes, that's what I thought it was. Mugendai, then. Well, me and my sword, Sarashi, well, I named her, and turns out, thats exactly what her name was."
Kairi smiled. "Coincidence is very hard to come by. It surprised me, to know, and hear. I wasn't sure if her voice was my wishful thinking, if I was going crazy, or what."
She patted his head again. "But when your in trouble, and all you've got is that sword, it'll become real then."

Maru nodded, almost understanding what she was talking about. He wondered more and more about what his sword would say. If it will ever speak. Then, something popped into his head. "Hey, I got something to ask you," Maru said, moving a bit closer. "Will I learn how to use him when we connect."

Kairi seemed to think for a moment, before smiling. "Yes, in a sense. You will have to train hard to be able to use him, but when you connect, it will be a lot easier."
Kairi shrugged, then giggled. "It's like having a second mind."
Smiling still, she pulled Maru into a quick hug before ruffling his hair. "Mugendai will speak with you, don't worry. Just never give up."

Maru listened as she explained herself to answer his question. Then she pulled him into a hug and ruffled his hair again. His face turned red a little and he fixed his hair. Then, he smiled and nodded. "I won't," he told her. "I'm not one to give up easily. I'm probably the most stubborn person you'll meet." Sticking his tongue out, he smiled again.

Kairi giggled and clapped her hands together. "I'm pretty stubborn myself. Being stubborn is fun."
Kairi grinned, rather evilly, and pinched her brother's cheeks softly, not hurting him, and said, "And so is making the little brother blush."
She laughed at his obvious anger, retracting her hands and giggling innocently, though her previous action told she was not innocent.

Maru grinned when she admitted being stubborn. He thought they were finally on the same page. Then, Kairi leaned over and pinched his cheek. "Gah," Maru whined, leaning back and batting her hand away. She laughed while he glared at her. "Stop that," he told her. "I am not little." His face lit up again as he crossed his arms, pouting once again. Then, he opened his eyes wide. "Whoa. Whoa. Back up. Little brother?"

Kairi laughed out loud, the sound echoing. "Yes, little brother." And then she smiled like an idiot, like there was nothing wrong. Though one had to wonder.....
Giggling, she patted his head. "If you don't want to be my little brother, I can make you the pet puppy."
It was said innocently enough, but the look in Kairi's eyes stated she knew it wasn't innocent. She loved to rile Maru up.
