"Well that's just stupid." Gabe told her. "Do what'cha wanna do, wouldn't be yourself other wise." Really, just because HE didn't want to make a fool of himself in public didn't mean he criticized others for behaving certain ways. He pointed to himself and grinned. "If someone's got a problem with it, you tell them to talk to me, how's that sound?"

Merry blushed a little brighter. "You... you're not gonna beat them up, are you?" She squeaked out. Gabe wasn't violent, but... He was big, and the people who picked on her were usually only a little bigger than her. Mostly because the only people who saw her that often were in her classes. And they were all jerks but... well, the white-haired girl didn't like seeing people hurt.

Gabe laughed and shook his head at that. "No, I won't beat anyone up. I'll just, you know, have a few words with them's all." A little bit of intimidation wouldn't hurt, it wasn't like it'd be all that bad anyway. If anyone was picking on Merry it was probably kids her own age, which meant for him, getting them to back off shouldn't take much at all.

Merry let out a relieved sigh. "Okay. Good..." She glanced around. "Uh... where are we going anyhow?" She asked, stomach rumbling just a bit. She had skipped breakfast because it was all so noisy in the cafeteria... by now it was probably cleared so... well, that could work.

Gabe shrugged. "Dunno, just figured walking around was better then sitting in there with a bunch of loud mouths." Now that he thought about it though, he was getting pretty hungry. "How about some food?" he asked.

Merry nodded enthusiastically, soon having to brush more hair back behind her ears. "That sounds great," she said, grateful that she hadn't had to bring it up herself. Eating together was something people did on dates, right? That... definitely wasn't this, but... oh she could wish...

Gabe nodded, glad that the way they were heading was already the direction of the cafeteria here. They arrived there not to long later, there didn't seem to be too many people there at all, perfect. "Look at that, we're doing good with this whole avoiding people thing." He joked as he looked down at her. "Well, you get in line first, I'll be right behind ya."

Merry giggled and curtsied again. "Thank you kind sir," she said airily before she skipped to the line. School food wasn't like what Daddy and Papa could cook, but it wasn't as bad as it could be. At least it had some flavor. She snagged a tray, carefully keeping her book under her arm and tucked to her side. She didn't want to drop it after all...

Gabe's own book was small enough to fit on his tray without adding too much weight or taking up a lot of space. He took a glance at Merry as she tucked her book under her arm. "I could hold onto it for ya if you need." It'd be kinda hard carrying her tray and her book the way she was doing.

Merry blinked as she started taking food for her tray. Holding her book... wasn't THAT a couple thing too? Oh no no no Merry! She did NOT need to go down that path that wasn't a good idea at all... But it did wind up being uncomfortable whenever she had to do this... "O-okay," she said, passing her book up to Gabe. "Thank you..."
