Merry jumped a little as one of the voices spoke directly to her. Thank goodness it was only Gabe, but it was still startling to hear it after so long in her own little world. "Oh, uh," She stammered before nodding. "Yeah, I'd like to go somewhere else... If you don't mind..." He had suggested it, so he didn't mind, she had to remind herself.

Gabe smiled and stood to his feet. It was more than a little obvious that Merry didn't want to be around so many people, and to be honest he was getting a little tired of it himself. That said, he held his book in one hand as he held the other out to her. "Ladies first." he said in his best gentleman-like voice. The kid seemed like the princess type, so he figured it fit well.

Merry couldn't help but giggle as she took Gabe's hand and rose from the couch. She managed a curtsy despite the book in her hand. "Why thank you, Sir Gabriel," she replied in her best princess voice.

Gabe laughed and walked with Merry down the hall. Once they were away from most of the noise he spoke. "So you were getting into your book back there." He said as he looked down at her. He was just trying to make conversation, he wanted to see if the little whitette could open up a little more.

Merry nodded a bit shyer at that. "Yeah, just... One of the characters is making a terrible mistake and is gonna screw everything up I just know it." She resisted the urge to smack her head against her book. It was hardcover and would HURT. "You don't trust Hannibal Lecter and they should KNOW that..." She mumbled, well aware she was getting far too into her books... But it was hard to just pull out like that.

The blond just smiled as Merry went on about her book. He was use to Adriana spazzing out over all the books and shows she was into, so this wasn't a problem to him at all. In fact, he wanted to encourage it, get her out of her shell more. "Well what do you thinks gonna happen to them?" He asked her curiously.

Merry frowned at her book. "The Congresswoman's daughter got kidnapped to be killed and skinned so she's not thinking straight, so she decided to cut a deal with Hannibal freaking Lecter." She groaned. "Except Clarice- who's the main character, is SO CLOSE to figuring everything out and finding Jame Gumb, who's the real serial killer and kidnapper. Not 'William Reuben' like Hannibal told the Congresswoman. Which means he's using her to get out of the asylum and it's gonna end really bloody I just know it..."
She looked back down at her book. "I have a lot of feelings about this book," she finished lamely.

Gabe chuckled a little. "Nothing wrong with that at all." He said. "Books are a good thing to get into. Besides, that friend I told you about? Gets WAY over the top about her stuff." It was pretty common for him to get phone calls in the middle of the night only to hear her gush about SOMETHING. "You can't nearly be as bad about it."

Merry laughed and rubbed the back of her neck again. "I dunno..." She had woken her sister up after 2 AM (under the pretense of 'it'll just be another few minutes' with a flashlight) sobbing as characters died. So it was very possible that she was indeed worse than Gabe's friend...

Gabe smiled. "Okay, well look at it this way, I don't mind when people get like that. I get excited over a lot of things myself, I just keep it well hidden's all." Adriana was the only person he'd ever geeked-out over a book or movie to, that was what best friends were for he supposed.

"How can you DO that, though?" Merry exclaimed, bewildered. She didn't know how to keep it all on lockdown so people didn't see. When she freaked out, she freaked out. Be it over something serious or something she loved it was easy to tell. Karina probably had it down to a science, her Daddy certainly did.

He shrugged. "I dunno, I've always been that way." Maybe not always, he just sort of grew into it. Seeing Gabe get REALLY excited over something was kinda rare. Not that they never happened, but when they did he was careful about who saw it. He personally just didn't want to look like an idiot he guessed. When it was his friends acting that way he didn't mind though, weird how stuff like that worked.

Merry frowned a bit. "Wish I could do that," she replied. It'd be nice, not winding up showing how upset she got or having to broadcast every emotion... There were times it helped, sure, but she wished desperately she could figure out how to contain it...

Gabe looked down at her and ruffled her hair some. "Hey now, don't get upset." He told her. "Trust me, it's not all that great. I get told to loosen up on a daily basis." Got accused of being boring occasionally too, which he didn't really agree with, but oh well.

Merry blushed a little. "It's not great being told to calm down all the time either..." She countered lamely. His hands were warm and though she had to un-muss her hair she definitely didn't mind the ruffling... It had been... well, nice.
