Kaji was feeling completely out of his element. There were just so many people, some of which he actually had to converse with... He wanted nothing more than to melt into the floor so that he could be overlooked for the rest of the evening. Opening up enough to make some actual, emotional artwork had been hard enough. Putting them on full display was a hundred times worse.
Well, at least the suit Jamie had bought him awhile ago was finally being put to good use. Although Kaji wasn't all too sure he pulled off the formal look all too well. He was too thin and gawky looking for that. Still, they were the nicest clothes he owned, and it was about time that he found a reason to wear them.
The redhead ran his fingers through his hair rather nervously, as he had done several times that night. He just wanted to get this whole art show thing over with and return to his comfortable life of solitude.

Jamie hadn't received an invitation to the gallery per say, as a matter of fact, he had only found out about it through chance, overhearing a couple discussing the upcoming gallery at his favorite cafe. After that? Well, he had made sure to ask that particular night off at the Allure.
And of course, what gallery show would have been complete without a plus-one to help him surprise Kaji? "Alright Skye, you see Kaji, holler out his name." He whispered fervently to the pink haired woman. She had been a great friend, really, and it only made sense she got to see Kaji's work too.
Besides, he'd probably need backup.

"You got it!" giggled Sky with a small salute as the pair entered the gallery. The pink haired girl was ecstatic when Jamie told her about the art show because for one, it meant she could see some of Kaji's work, and two, she had yet another excuse to dress up! Not that she really needed an excuse to dress up since she always did, but it was nice to have an actual reason for once(and come on, the white vintage dress and slippers she was wearing were down right adorable).
She looked around, it shouldn't be too hard to find their other companion, all she needed to do was find a head of red hair that didn't belong to the man beside her.
After a little bit of searching the pinkette smiled and tugged at Jamie's arm a little before waving in the direction or the other redhead. "Kaji~! Yoohoo, over here~!!" That should be enough to get his attention.

Kaji turned in the direction of Sky's voice and have the pair a small, unsure wave. What where they doing here? He couldn't remember mentioning the gallery to either of them, even in passing... Then again, Jamie did see to have a habit of conveniently showing up where Kaji was. Maybe this was just another one of those times.
The Ookami wasn't entirely sure if it was a good or bad thing that his... friends (although he wasn't really sure if that title accurately described his and Jamie's relationship) were here. On one hand, he would have people he was comfortable with to talk to; on the other, they would both be seeing him in a relatively vulnerable state. Kaji still couldn't get ahold of his nerves, and it showed.

Jamie hurried on over with Skye, THERE was his favorite ginger! He restrained himself from trying to smooch the other Ookami (and restrained himself from hugging, this was a more... professional setting) and decided he'd have to try and pacify that urge later, if Kaji would let him.
At the redhead's bemused look he grinned. "I heard about the gallery thanks to the cafe, turned out I had a night off and me 'n Skye decided to drop by and see you." His voice was overflowing with cheer, likely because he couldn't hug the younger man and get it out physically. Overcompensation was a bitch.

Sky nodded with what Jamie said and smiled as cheerful as always. "Yeah, what kinda friends would we be if we didn't support you?" She said. She looked around the place before looking back at Kaji and his outfit. "And don't you look just handsome in that~" The pinkette giggled happily. The quieter redhead did look nice, it was a pleasant change compared to what he normally wore.

"Oh, um..." the redhead fimbled with his tie a bit. "Thanks, I guess." He wasn't all that convinced that he looked good in the suit, but he wasn't about to argue with Sky. "You look much better, though." It was true. The pinkette looked absolutely adorable. And Jamie... Kaji glanced over at the Irishman and found himself blushing. Damn it, why did he have to look so dashing all dressed up like that? It simply wasn't fair. The budding artist was anxious enough as it was.

"Aaawww, don't be like that," Jamie said, smiling. "You look good enough to kiss... I won't cuz I dunno if you want me to right now, but ya do." If he couldn't do it, he'd sure as hell talk. That would probably be an issue in the future. Kaji looked so cute, and actually cleaned up fantastically well. Not like the ookami wasn't usually neat to begin with, he was more reputable than Jamie was at least. "Mind showin' us around?" He asked, half-changing the subject.

"Oh, um... Sure." Kaji glanced around for a moment before returning his gaze to Jamie and Sky. "I'm going to be a pretty shitty guide, just to warn you. It's my first time at one of these things." He barely even knew how to act at these hoity-toity affairs, or any social situation really. Jamie and Sky seemed much more at ease in this environment than he did.

Sky smiled and waved her hand a little. "Oh you'll be fine, just do the best you can and we'll love it no matter what." She understood he was out of his element here, but hopefully with a little encouragement from them he'd get more comfortable. Besides, he'd need to learn to do this sorta stuff more often in the future, easiest way to start off would be with people he already knew.

Jamie rocked on his heels, "What Sky said," he beamed at the smaller redhead. "I've been dyin' ta see how much better you've gotten," he chirped happily. He knew that as an artist of the gallery he couldn't have Kaji with him and Sky all night, but he could shoot for 'as much of it as possible' and not fall too far from the mark.

"Well, my stuff's just over here so..." He motioned for the his companions to follow him. The Ookami was a little apprehensive about letting people he talked with on a regular basis see some of his more personal pieces... but these were people he trusted. Some of the only people he trusted.
Kaji stopped in front of the area where most of his artwork was displayed. The content varied somewhat, although there seemed to be a focus on the same dark-haired woman throughout a few of the pieces. Those were probably the best out of the bunch, and also the hardest for Kaji to put on display. He still wasn't sure if finally making art about his mother was helping or hurting him, but the confusion was enough to keep him chest tight and his stomach doing somersaults.
The Ookami looked over the sprawl of sketches and paintings rather critically, immediately noticing things that were wrong with each and every piece. There were just so many things he could have done better...

The pinkette followed Kaji along with the other redhead. At the sight of her friend's work she felt her smile grow and she clasped her hands together in delight. He made all of these? They were so good, and her attention kept going straight to the woman in each of the pictures. She assumed they were all the same person, she sure was beautiful.
"Wow Kaji," Sky started, looking back and forth between a few that were closest to her. "They're all amazing, you did these all by yourself?" She was doing everything she could to keep from squealing, the Tora never was good with hiding excitement.

Jamie had to work hard to keep his jaw from dropping. They were all even better than he remembered from that one time in Kaji's sketchbook. Not that he hadn't EXPECTED that but it was different than seeing them for himself. "Kaji they're great," he breathed, drifting on accident away from the other redhead as he gravitated towards the same dark haired woman that Sky seemed to be gushing over.
"Is this..?" He asked, leaving it hanging for Kaji to answer whatever way he felt comfortable. The same one he had seen in the sketchbook? His mother? One of his favorite pieces? Honestly Kaji could take it a million ways if he wished. Jamie figured he'd appreciate the choice.

Kaji bit the inside of his cheek, summoning the will to respond. After a moment he release a barely audible sigh and nodded. "Yeah, that's her. My mom, I mean." They were much better than the sketch Jamie had seen of her before, he had to admit. Much more... accurate, somehow. Kaji had finally managed to capture her the way he remembered her, namely the air of graceful sadness she had always possessed, even when she seemed happy. It wasn't a joyous representation by any means, but still a fond one. Tragic though she was, the Ookami loved his mother all the same. Even if it still hurt like a bitch to think about her.
