Sky turned her attention back to the piece that Jamie had gone to, looking at the woman once more. So this was Kaji's mom. Funny, she'd never heard him mention her before. Then again it wasn't like the Tora liked to talk much about her own mother, but the fact that he had drawn her so much, he obviously loved her.
Deciding it probably wasn't the best time to ask questions, the pinked haired girl just looked back at Kaj, still smiling but in a different way. It was soft instead of hyper. "She's very beautiful." She wasn't sure what else to say, but at least that much was the truth.

Jamie took a step back to Kaji and snagged his hand and gave it a gentle squeeze. It wasnt the hug he wanted to give him but it was something. "She really is. Thank you for showin' us, Kaji." The urge to kiss the Ookami was mounting, but Jamie would NOT succumb to it. No matter how wonderful the other redhead was this was a FORMAL GALLERY and he wouldn't ruin it for the artist. It wouldn't be fair...

For some reason, Kaji felt a mild sense of relief wash over him when Jamie took his hand. His stomach temporarily righted itself and, for the first time that evening, he found that he could breathe properly.
"Thank you," the Ookami murmured softly. Not just for the praise, but for removing his urge to melt into the floor. He felt significantly better than he had a few moments earlier.

Sky looked between the two redheads as a small but knowing smile showed up on her lips. She may have been a little stupid, but she was well aware of the 'Third Wheel' feeling she was getting(while she was sure it wasn't intentional, so she didn't mind). Well wasn't this adorable?
The pinkette gave them a few more moments before poking her head between them. Not in an obnoxious way really, but well, they should know how the Tora was at this point. "So how long did it take you to finish all these?" She asked curiously, still looking at the different pieces as she spoke. They had to of taken a lot of time.

"A lot longer than it should have," Kaji answered sheepishly. "Figuring out the subject is always the hard part." The issue had mostly been actually putting real, raw emotion into his pieces. Opening up was not something the Ookami was particularly good at, even via artwork, so finally resolving to express himself had taken awhile. After that step was completed it hadn't been all too difficult. What Kaji had lacked in concept before he had always made up for with great technique.

Jamie snickered as Sky butted in. "Everything's always hardest at the start though, right?" He asked. "I read about something called 'flow,' it's like getting into the zone, that happens, right?" It happened when he tended bar, he just got into the zone so well he could do it with his eyes shut. Sometimes it was like dancing, especially when he and Fred had to work together.

"Yeah," Kaji replied softly. He paused, his gaze thoughtfully roaming over the various pieces before he found himself glancing over at Jamie. "Starting is always the hardest." He didn't necessarily mean in terms of artwork. Change in General was difficult for Kaji, especially when it came to progressing.... certain relationships with certain people.

Jamie smiled, catching the double meaning as he squeezed the other Ookami's hand. "Well there ain't a rush for some things..." He said, "Guess it's different when you've got a deadline." One of the reasons Jamie had avoided college like the plague was the looming deadlines. That, and he was so certain he'd not be able to afford it. No scholarships to a guy who decided that formal education was kind of not his cup of tea.

Kaji shrugged. "I don't sleep well anyway, so I usually just stay up late to finish stuff." I did kind of suck, though, having that kind of stress constantly hanging over you head. Enjoying anything was difficult when the work he wasn't finishing was always in the back of his mind. Hence why he usually worked on projects all through the night and into the wee hours of the morning. It probably wasn't a healthy practice but...

"I'm glad to finally meet her," the Irishman said, fully certain that this was how Ms Himura had been in life. Kaji did things well when he set his mind to them, it was one of the things Jamie loved about him. And wasn't that a good word? Maybe he'd be able to use it again tonight. "'M happy t' meet the lady who had so much of an impact on ya..." His smile was towards the picture, though it was sad and small. He understood loss.

Kaji opened his mouth to reply, but then fell silent. A decade had passed since the last time he had heard his mother's voice, and yet he could still barely bring himself to talk about her. She had been present for less than half of his life, hell, Yuna had been with him far longer, and the she still held a strange sort of power over him.
She was almost like a fairy tale, idealized and romanticized and twisted up until, over time, the truth could no longer be ascertained from fantasy. All Kaji had left were jumbled up memories and impressions, and maybe their similarities as well. They were both prickly, needy, and emotional, and definitely stubborn, but when his mother loved she loved with all her heart... They were two birds of a feather, hitch is why Kaji feared her as much as he loved her. It was also why the redhead knew that what he spoke next was the truth.
"She would have been glad to meet you too. Both of you."

Sky listened to the two redheads, then turned and smiled at Kaji. It was soft and gentle in contrast to how enthusiastic and peppy it usually was. She wasn't going to ask what happened to his mother, that would be a subject for another time completely, but she could still tell how much the redhead had loved her. It almost made her miss her own mother, almost.
For once being at a loss for words, the pinkette settled for giving Kaji a hug. She knew he wasn't really one for those sort of things, which was why she made sure to keep the hug loose enough for him to get out of it if he wanted. Still, he was a good friend, and she cared about him, she had to find some way to show that.
