Daemon had to really think on that one. It was hard to think of a complete family memory. He had plenty with his mom but all of the good ones with everyone were hard to think of when there'd been so much bad. It took him a minute more before he finally thought of something and smiled again. "When I was six and Artemis was four, my dad had the idea for a family vacation. We left town and drove a few hours and went to this beach. we stayed in this quaint little bed and breakfast and during the day we went out and played on the beach. My dad and I built the biggest sandcastle ever. It was as tall as I was, which I guess now it wasn't that big." He laughed lightly. "I helped my mom and dad when they taught Artemis to swim." He smiled fondly at the memory. "Definitely the best family memory." He couldn't remember being happy and having fun like that since then.
"How about you?"

Emma smiled warmly as Daemon talked, that really did sound sweet. As the question was turned to her she started thinking herself. It was hard for her to think of a favorite memory, but the reason was pretty much the exact opposite as Daemon's. She had so many good ones, it was hard to pick just ONE.
"Well," she began as she settled on one. "I think Tyler and I were about seven or eight. For some reason we had this backyard party with the entire family, and you know how big my family is. There was so much food and all of us kids played around in the back yard while our parents talked and joked around. Anya, Roman, Perri, and Avril all got to stay the night and we all got hyped up on soda and candy." she laughed. "My mom was getting so frustrated because it was 3 in the morning and we were STILL awake. Needless to say that was the last time ALL of us got to stay the night together at once." Oh those were some good times.

Daemon couldn't help but laugh at the thought of all those kids together for a night. "That would have been a fun night. What did you guys do until three in the morning?" He could imagine some things considering their ages, but he was curious and wanted to know nonetheless. Her memory certainly sounded like a great one.

"Lots of movies and cartoons for sure." she started as she tried to list the different things they had done that night. "I think Perri and Roman were arguing over a stuffed animal at one point, but that's no surprise." she shrugged and laughed again. "A lot of typical kid stuff I guess." She smiled. "Your turn~"

Daemon silently laughed at that as he pondered on a new question. "Alright, I have a little different question. If you met a genie and he gave you three wishes, what would you wish for?" He asked as the question came to mind. "Oh, and no wishing for new wishes." He added. He was curious to what she wanted to most in the world. He knew she'd turn the question back on him so he tried to think of what he'd want. It was difficult.

Emma sighed and laughed at the question. "Wow, you're really wanting me to think this early in the morning?" She leaned back in her seat and thought on the question, three wishes...
She frowned slightly as some things came to mind. "Well, if we're being serious here, I guess... I'd wish for my Uncle Matsuda, Roman and Perri's dad, to still be alive. I'd wish for my mother's mental health to be better than it is now..." She turned back to him with a small smile. "And I'd wish that you and your family would all get along and be happy." That was all that she saw wrong in her life, everything else was, well it was perfect.
"So what about you Daemon?"

Daemon's eyes widened at her wishes. He understood the first two, but her last wish... he was stunned. He looked down at his lap where his book sat. "I wish my father had never done all the horrible things he did. I wouldn't need three wishes because that would solve everything." He replied quietly, still looking at the book.

Emma smiled a little bit more, a soft and gentle one. "Well I guess we'd be wishing for the same thing then wouldn't we?" She reached over and took one of his hands in hers. "You're a nice guy Daemon, nothing at all like your father." Just from what she had heard alone she knew it was true. Mr. Speirs sounded like a monster, and Daemon was just the opposite.

Daemon looked at her hand in his and then up at her with side eyes. "Thank you..." He didn't know what else to say so he just squeezed her hand. It meant more to him that Emma recognized him for him than anything else. "All I ever wanted was to be good... I just wish I could change him, then everything would be better."

"You can't help that though." She reminded him. "You only have control over what you do, not others." None of this was his fault, she needed Daemon to know that. "What your dad or sister do has nothing to do with you now, you know that right?"

Daemon shrugged slightly and sighed. "I know. It's just hard to let go of something like that, they are my family and as much as I hate them... I love them too. If that makes sense." He looked at their hands and smiled slightly. "But it is nice to be free and have control over my own life."

Emma squeezed his hand a little and smiled. "You always did, you just didn't realize it until recently." She was glad he was happy now, he didn't deserve to have to go through what he'd had to put up with by Artemis or his dad.

Daemon looked at Emma and smiled softly. "It's thanks to you really. Had I not met you, I doubt I would have had the courage to tell my dad what I thought." He replied. He started to say something else but the bell rang. He smiled sheepishly. "As much as I'd hate to go, I think that's our cue."

Emma glanced up when she heard the bell. She looked back at Daemon and smiled back in a similar way. "Yeah, gotta head to class." She took her hand off his and stood up, grabbing her bags as she did so. She turned back to Daemon and scratched her head as she giggled hesitantly. "So I guess I'll talk to you soon?"

Daemon quickly pulled out a pen and took her hand. "Hold on." he said as he started to write on her hand. He finished and let go, smiling. "My number," he explained. "Just call or text whenever you want. We can set up a time for tutoring whenever you need."
