Daemon collapsed onto his bed with a groan. He'd been out on the baseball field with the guys since the sun came up, throwing pitches and practicing hits. He would have stayed longer but he and Artemis had a tradition of coming home every friday night. Usually he'd go out with his father on another job, but Daemon hadn't gone on the last few and he especially didn't want to go now. He was sure his father would ask him to go this time, or at least make something for him.
Exhausted, he pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to his mom to let her know he was in his room. He'd slipped in the house quietly hoping to stay away from his father and sister. He'd heard the two planning in the dining room when he'd slipped in. He really didn't want to confront the two right now and it seemed like everytime he talked to Artemis, she was goading him to fight her and their father.

Artemis had just finished discussing the events of the evening with her father, and had decided to go upstairs to see if her brother was there. She noticed her mother pulling out her phone in the other room and responding to a text and figure it was Daemon's way of avoiding their dad and herself. Well she wasn't stupid, and now that he was home it was time to start putting things together.
"Oh Brother~" the younger sibling sang innocently as she knocked on his door. "Come downstairs please? Daddy wants to talk to you!" She was insanely good at acting sweet if she wanted to, but considering Daemon was her older brother she knew he'd see through it. Oh well, like she really cared.

Daemon's teeth grit as he heard Artemis's fake innocent act. "He can wait, I'm busy." he replied, lying smoothly. Ever since the issue with Perri Megumi, he and Artemis had been fighting. He didn't want to deal with her anymore, especially since she was going to try to get him to go off on their father. While Daemon wanted to... he was a little scared, though he'd never admit it. His father could be... difficult.

Artemis frowned, knowing a lie when she heard it. She picked it up with a grin soon enough though. "Come on Daemon, don't be such a baby." She waited for a moment before calling down the stair case. "Daddy! Daemon won't come down! He's being a jerk!" Time to speed this process up.

Archer couldn't help but chuckle as he heard Artemis yell down the stairs. "Daemon, downstairs, now." he yelled in reply without stopping in cleaning the gun he had been working on.
Daemon's hand fisted and teeth grit. He forced himself to sit up and leave the room, glaring at his sister as he stomped down the stairs. "I have stuff to do." He told his father as soon as he reached the living room. He just wanted to eat dinner, talk with his mom for a bit then get some homework done before they had to head back to the dorms.

Desiree sighed as she heard the commotion from where she was in the living room. Artemis quickly followed Daemon downstairs, smiling a little but nothing too big that would cause question. The mother of the family smiled softly at her son. "That's fine Daemon, I'm sure whatever your father needed could wait." The two had been on worst term lately than usual, and she was scared for what could happen with Daemon's current mood.
Artemis looked back at her mom. "He's not really busy Mom, he's just trying to hide up in his room is all." she pouted and gave her brother a hug, trying to irritate him even more. "We just wanna spend some time with you Big Brother, nothing wrong with that is there~?"

Daemon glared at his sister. "I have homework actually. You and Dad can do your thing like usual, you don't need me." he snapped.
Archer blew air into the barrel of the gun to disperse the remaining dirt that hadn't come out already. "Actually, I do need you. Your sister and I have to do some prep work for tonight so I need you to build some small explosives. It's just another government official, but I've gotta do some recon." He said as he looked down the barrel of the gun, towards Daemon.

Artemis let go of Daemon. "It's more important than school anyway." There really was no need for an actual education if they were getting money in THIS way, so technically it was true. "So there's no reason why you won't, huh Daemon?" she nudged his side with her elbow. If she could just get him started, THEN they could have some real fun.
Desiree sighed and shook her head. "Archer Dear, just let him do his school work if that's what he wants." She always tried defending her son when Archer and Artemis ganged up on him like this, but unfortunately she wasn't exactly the law maker in the house.

Daemon stepped away from his sister to avoid hitting her, like he imagined doing. "School might not be important for you, but it is for me. So, no, I won't." He looked at his father. "Sorry, but you'll just have to do it without me. I don't want to and I have other important things to do."
Archer set aside the gun he was working on and started sharpening the knives. He looked towards his son with a raised eyebrow. "You're a fast builder, you'd be done in an hour if you set your mind to it. You always have time to do school work while your at school or in your dorms. While you're here, I expect you to help with the work." He said, ignoring his wife.

Desiree frowned, stepping in front of Daemon so that her husband had no other choice but to pay attention to her. "How about Artemis and I work on them, huh? The two of us together should make a good enough replacement."
Artemis just sighed loudly, she HATED making the equipment, that had always been Daemon's job in the first place.

Archer sat back in the chair and glanced over at his daughter then back to his wife. "I need Artemis to head out and pick up supplies so I can finish getting things ready." He replied. "Besides, it's not like Daemon hasn't put off homework to make things before. He's the best anyways." Archer replied. Daemon's hands fisted in aggravation. He loved his mom and was glad she was trying to help, but he didn't think this was going to help.

Artemis grinned. "Yeah, Mom you can go do... whatever it is you do, we've got this covered." She looked back up at Daemon. "Maybe there's a reason you don't want to?" she tried. "Maybe you just wanna be a do gooder and impress little Emma and her family, huh?"
"Artemis!" Desiree started, turning around to face her daughter.
The youngest of the family turned back to her mother. "Oh stop it already, I already know you're trying to help him get on their good side too." She had been walking down the music hall just a week or so ago to look for Daemon when she overheard her mother having a little meeting with Mr. King. She was sure Daemon and their father didn't know about it and she was saving it for a good time like this. "I heard you and Mr. King talking at school last week, you were telling him all about our family and begging him to get his kids to play nice with Daemon." If her brother didn't get mad at her for saying all of this, then surely their dad would have something to say about their mother's little secret.

"Shut up Artemis." Daemon snapped, glaring at his sister. You have no right to talk about what Mom does." He didn't know his mom had talked to Mr. King, but he was grateful for trying to help. "I don't care what you might say about me but leave her out of this."
Archer stared at his wife for a moment then decided he'd rather save that conversation for later and looked back to Daemon. "Still trying to cozy up to the King family? I'm afraid you're not going to get very far with that. There's no way they'd ever accept you. There's too much drama between our families, going back before you were born."

Artemis smiled to herself from where she was at in the background, now things could really get heated up.
Desiree frowned, walking over to Archer. "Please, Dear, just let him do what he wants. What happened back then has nothing to do with him." Her voice was getting quieter and less confident with every word. She had avoided telling Archer because she KNEW he wouldn't like it, and now that he knew she was scared about what he'd do...

Archer set aside the knife and beckoned Artemis over. "Finish this." he said pointing to the blades and other weapons on the table. He stood and crossed his arms over his chest. He looked down at Desiree then over at Daemon. "I know it has nothing to do with him, but that doesn't change anything. They will never accept him and no matter how much you plead with them, that won't change and you know it. You participated in some of the later stuff back then, you saw their reactions. Do you really think that'll change? I'm sure Hotaru still has nightmares." He grinned at that.
Daemon's hands tightened. "Of course they won't!" He finally snapped. "Not when I have a father like you who enjoys tormenting and killing people! They know I'm related to a monster like you and I'm sure they all think I'm on the fast track to be just like you, but guess what, I'm not and I don't want be even remotely like you! I don't want to make your damn bombs. I don't want to do anything that will connect me to the horrible things you do. I regret everything I've ever done to help you and I refuse to do any more!"
