The weather had been more than a bit bipolar lately, and as a result it was much warmer tha usual outside. It wasn't exactly bikini weather, but it was still toasty enough to be without a jacket... Which alone was relatively freakish for a day in the middle of autumn.
Maybe whoever controlled the weather had decided to be particularly nice today, Yukiko mused. It was a small bit of good fortune, considering today was the day she and Theo had decided to visit the beach. Yukiko had to admit, she'd been looking forward to this for awhile. It would be one of the first times she could truly be alone with him, without his overbearing other half hanging over their heads.
"I'm glad it warmed up a little today," the Ookami chirped, smiling at Theo softly.

Theo managed a smile in return. It was a little warm for his typical turtleneck and pants, but he didn't want to roll up the sleeves or take off his gloves just yet... As much as he trusted Yuki, he still hadn't told her about all the scars and why he had them... He would, eventually, just not... not right now. For now he was content to walk with Yuki and think that gosh he'd like to take off his gloves and hold her hand...
He wouldn't, he had had that thought a few times before but it had been squashed. Now... it wasn't squashed as hard, but he was still hesitant to act upon it... He decided to just reply instead, "Guess we got lucky." He replied, though he was sure he could take whatever the winter dished out.

Yukiko hummed in agreement. "I like the fall and all, but it's nice to be able to go outside without looking like a marshmallow." What could she say? She liked to layer when it got cold; she lost body heat easily. And being able to waltz around in a measly hoodie and some capris was pretty nice too.

Theo couldn't help but laugh at the mental image of Yuki bundled up like a florescent orange fluff-ball. For some reason, winter coats had always wound up being the most gaudy colors back home... He wasn't as certain about here in Hatsu Itonami, but he was sure that now that his head was nice and clear he'd be able to find out.
"I wonder if it'll get as cold as back home..." Theo wondered aloud. Back in Canada, it could get well below freezing, he would know, he had had to stand out in it many a day to try and escape his father's wrath... The shed out back could be nice and cozy if you found a proper corner though, and there was an old wood-burning stove to keep things toasty so it hadn't been too bad until he ran out of things to burn...

"I dunno... Canada's a lot farther north than Japan." The Ookami paused for a moment, and then decided to pose the question, "Do you miss it? Home?" She knew the answer would be tricky... But she wanted to know more about Theo, whatever she could. Despite how close Yukiko felt they were getting, there were still so many holes in her knowledge of him.

Theo rubbed his arm a little awkwardly. How could he phrase this so he wouldn't have to lie to her? He didn't ever want to do that to his friend... but he couldn't just say he was relieved that whatever had brought him here had done what it did because he wasn't sure if he could take another beating... "Not... really." He replied. "It was pretty, but... I-I didn't have many friends..." Well that was true... he had been alone in his misery for a long time... he had resorted to making up friends to talk to when his father was passed out drunk and he was tending to injuries.

"Oh... I'm sorry." There was a brief pause before the Ookami added, "If it makes you feel better, I didn't grow up with too many friends either." She smiled empathetically with a small shrug. It's only in the past few years that I've started making connections with people." Branching out was something Yukiko was still working on. But as for the friends she did have... Well, she loved them dearly. And Theo was certainly no exception.

Theo smiled a little. At least he wasn't alone in that department... Actually, not being good at making friends was probably more common than he had thought, but he had never really paid attention... Maybe he should try doing that, people-watching. He wondered if Yuki had done it before... "D-did you use to people-watch?" He asked as he mentally cringed at his stutter. He was safe and Yuki was his friend, but he still couldn't get it under control...

Yukiko nodded with a small smile. "Yeah, all the time. It's actually how I met most of my current friends..." She scratched her cheek with a quiet laugh. "It's kinda funny how people react when they notice you staring..."

Theo blinked, smiling a little. "Do you get noticed a lot?" He asked softly, he supposed that might be a side-effect... Maybe he should try people-watching? He could use a few other friends he supposed, he spent so much time with Yuki that he was sure that she could probably use some time away from him... He didn't want her to get tired of him.

"Sometimes, I guess. But it's always seems to be an accident. Usually I meet people by falling on my face." She turned to smile at her companion. "Kinda like how I met you." It was a tad embarrassing how accurate that was. Yukiko hadn't really realized how clumsy she was. But looking back on it there had been countless incidents including falling down the stairs, tripping, walking into metal poles... And the most recent accomplishment, cutting her hand while cooking. The Ookami still hadn't gone to get her stitches taken out for that either...

As if those words had allowed the knowledge to break into Theo's mind, he suddenly noticed the bandages on Yuki's hand. His heart froze. She was HURT! She was hurt and hadn't told him and he was a HORRIBLE friend for not noticing and-
His mind rambled on, but his mouth seemed to have a bit better control of itself. "W-what happened t-to your hand?" He asked with brows furrowed and eyes wide in concern.

"Oh, this?" Yukiko looked down at the bandages wrapping around her palm. "I was trying to cook and I cut my hand." She looked somewhat embarrassed. "Kaito freaked out took my to the hospital... So I ended up gettig stitches."

Theo, through his stab of worry over Yuki being hurt, was actually rather relieved. Her brother (who, from stories Yuki had told him, seemed to be very protective if not a little standoffish) had taken her to get fixed up? He could almost sigh with relief. At least he didn't have to believe that Yuki didn't have anyone looking out for her...
Well, more competent people than himself, anyway... He couldn't protect his way out of a paper bag and he knew it.

Yukiko sensed her companion's worry and quickly jumped to reassure him. "Don't worry about it; it's hardly more than a scratch." Theo worrying about her as sweet, the Ookami supposed, but she didn't want to cause him undue stress on her behalf. She was suppossed to be protecting him after all...
