Kaji nearly rolled his eyes. Seriously, what was he, five? He was more than capable of taking care of himself. The Ookami was half tempted to get out with his sanity intact while he still could, but the thought was banished from his mind almost immediately. The thing was, there was a teenie bit of him that liked being with Jamie, even if the majority of him would never, ever admit it.
A moment or two passed in uneventful silence, with Kaji doing nothing more than keeping entirely to himself. However, his silent space bubble was quickly popped by a careless stranger slamming into his shoulder. The unexpected force of what should have been a minor collision nearly knocked the wiry redhead right off his feet.
"Hey, watch it!" the passerby spat as Kaji attempted to regain his balance. The redhead immediately shot the man a glare.
"You walked into me, asshat," the shorter of the two grumbled. It wasn't until after this comment had been made that he noticed the smell of liquor lingering around the large man. Clearly, he was drunk. Not a great factor for the Ookami to deal with. Still, that didn't quell his irritation. "Maybe you should learn how to walk before you go yelling at other people." The particular comment really seemed to piss the guy off. Kaji didn't really register how bad that was until there was a fist being shot into his stomach.
"Think yer real funny, dontcha?" the man slurred, taking up a sloppy fighting stance. Kaji, in the meantime, was trying to swallow the sudden pain radiating from his abdomen. They guy had seriously punched him... What the fuck?!
If the Ookami had any intention of keeping his temper under control, it was long gone now. Forgetting the fact that he had never won a fight in his entire life, Kaji attempted to swing back at his assailant, all the while muttered a long string of colorful curse words. Of course even against a drunk man there was no hope of winning, and it wasn't long before the redhead found himself thrown to the ground, on hand covering a bleeding nose.
"Shit," the Ookami growled bitterly. Why was it he could never defend himself? Even against someone who was smashed he was useless.

Jamie wasn't too long at the washrooms, but it seemed as if Kaji had managed to get himself into trouble in the brief amount of time he was gone. There was a much larger man standing over the redhead, the youth in question appeared to be bleeding...
It didn't take Jamie long to figure out what had happened, and as soon as he did he barreled toward the larger man and rammed him aside to send him tumbling to the ground. The man snarled and pushed himself back up to glare blearily at the second redhead. "Ye picked th' wrong Ookami ta mess with." He drawled out. "Now git, before I make yer mum wonder if a steamroller hit ye' er not."
The drunk only seemed to become more enraged after that, and Jamie had to duck to avoid a punch to his face. He stuck out his foot, almost (but not quite) surprised as the drunk overbalanced and was tripped and sent sprawling on the ground in a heap. Jamie watched for a quick moment to make sure he wasn't getting up any time soon and hurried over to Kaji. "You alright?" He asked. His voice was filled with concern for the other. "Let's find a first-aid station for yeh..." He suggested.

"I'm fine," the redhead muttered. His voice sounded funny and muffled with his hands held over his face. Kaji lowered his palms, allowing some of the blood to escape from his nose. It didn't seem broken, thank God, but it still hurt like hell. Pretty much all of him hurt. But the thing that had been injured most was his pride, and Kaji refused to let that suffer any more blows. "Honestly, this isn't the first time this has happened."

Jamie frowned. "Tha' jus' concerns me MORE..." He mumbled as he attempted to help Kaji up. "Doesn't matter how many times ya've been hurt, I'm gonna make sure you get fixed up right." He said more clearly for Kaji and smiled to help him loosen up. "Can't have yer pretty face all bloody forever."

"You're overreacting," Kaji grumbled as the other redhead helped him stand. However, there was no further protest. As much as he hated being fussed over, the Ookami also didn't want to walk around looking like he'd been hit by a drunken train all day long. Although by this point, he was more or less used to being roughed up. High school had taken care of that for him.

Jamie chuckled. "Yeah, well let me overreact, yea?" He smiled and pulled Kaji toward the first aid tent. At the very least he needed to get cleaned up properly, and he was certain that the nurses could patch Kaji up properly if there WAS anything wrong with him.

Knowing saying anything else was pointless, Kaji kept his mouth shut. He allowed his clanmate to lead him to the first-aid tent without further protest, instead focusing on silently nursing his bruised pride. The nurses didn't seem all too surprised with his condition, causing the Ookami to believe that fights weren't exactly a rarity at these events (which wasn't exactly a comforting notion).
One of the gruffer of the attendants ushered Kaji over do one of the ready-to go beds and had him sit down while all his vitals were checked. The redhead was more than a little uncomfortable during this entire process, and was honestly to tired at this point to make the effort to hide it.

Jamie just watched and waited for Kaji to get looked over. It looked like the younger redhead was tiring, and Jamie made a note to ask him if he wanted to leave for the day once he was done getting looked over. Getting the crap kicked out of you tended to make you pretty tired, as Jamie would know.

Thankfully, the nurse was quite efficient and managed to get Kaji fixed up relatively fast. There was little chatter between her and her patient, which suited the redhead just fine. After a minute or two she gave him the all-clear, and the Ookami was all too willing to get going. Frankly, the thing that still hurt the most was the sharp feeling of embarrassment in his gut; Kaji really wished that he was capable of taking care of himself. Sadly, that had never really worked out in the past.
"See?" The Ookami mumbled while sliding off the bed and onto his feet. "I'm fine."

Jamie smiled in apology. "Jus' wanted ta make sure... I was worried about ya." He explained, hoping that Kaji wouldn't take too much offense to the statement. "D'ya wanna get goin, Kaji?" He asked, referring to leaving the entire festival altogether. "Or d'ya wanna stick around a while?"

"I think I should probably go," the redhead sighed. He was notably busy, what with projects due and odd jobs to fufill, Kaji had already given himself more break time than he really should have. Sadly, the more he did that the more he would fall behind, and in turn that meant a lot of all nighters (ergo very little sleeping and/or eating time). It wasn't a pleasant cycle, but the Ookami had yet to find a way out.

Jamie took his hand. "Well then lemme walk ya back, 's the least I can do." He offered, although he was a little eager to see where Kaji lived. Not in the creepy way, but he did want to give playing the flute for him a go. After all, music helped inspire artists, right? Maybe some flute music would get Kaji's own creative juices flowing.

Kaji wiggled his fingers, adjusting the other redhead's grip on his hand. He wasn't going to protest the hand-holding; he told hinself he was too tired to do so, but some part of both knew and denied that his weariness was the reason. The Ookami began to move adound the crowd, starting off in the direction of his apartment. After a moment or two he finally spoke.
"Thanks..." Kaji's voice was quiet as he glanced away from Jamie. He didn't really mean it just as a "thank-you" for walking him home, but the Ookami did not elaborate. His clanmate was perceptive enough to see that.

Jamie was nearly caught off guard by the quiet gratitude shown by his clanmate. But caught off guard or not the words brought a small smile to his face and a warmth to his chest. "My pleasure." He replied happily, though he kept his voice level and softer than it typically was. It had been a long day, Jamie realized, the sun was setting already... He and Kaji must have spent more time watching the performers than he remembered...

Somehow the days events had suddenly heightened Kaji's already built-in need to closely obseve his environment. He was acutely aware of everything- the crowd bustling past, his own obnoxious heartbeat, the feel of Jamie's hand around his... It gave him a funny constricted feeling in his chest, and the Ookami really wasn't sure what it was. All he was sure of was the heat and patches of cherry redness seeping into his cheeks. Honestly, Kaji was beyond trying to stop it at this point. His constant facial flushing was pure, unstoppable instinct. Unfortunately, where his brain succeeded in embarrassment it failed in communication. The redhead really couldn't think of anything to say. He'd never been good at small talk.
