Jamie blinked, then blinked again as he stared at the other redhead. "Where's yer beret?" He asked, brows furrowed in seemingly genuine confusion. "An' why ain'tcha a snobby twat?" He asked bluntly, though a bit of a grin was creeping back onto his face, dispelling the 'apparent' bewilderment from moments earlier.

Kaji sighed, eyebrows twitching in irritation. "Oh ha, ha, ha." His voice was dripping with sarcasm. "You're hilarious." He was aware of the stereotypes that surrounded his profession. It wasn't as if jabs like that was something we hadn't heard before. Although to be honest, he fit much better in the "starving artist" category. The redhead was usually more or less strapped for cash. But he made it work.

"Why thankya~!" Jamie smirked, he knew better than to get offended. The best thing to do was roll with things, it lessened potential impacts and Jamie was pretty alright with going where life took him. "But aside from that," He said, grin becoming more genuine and less shit-eating. "Seems like a good fit for ya. Dunno why, but it'd be weird if you said anythin' else." A tiny laugh. If he had said something like microbiology Jamie would have called bullshit and smacked him on the shoulder, but fine arts... that was extremely fitting.

"Fitting, huh?" Kaji hide the cynical smirk that followed his words with his fingers. His green eyes flickered with bittersweet amusement. Under his breath he added, "Funny, no one else really seems to think so." It was something he had long since accepted. No one had expected him to go into school, much less choose are as a field. Needless to say his family (sans one or two people) had serious doubts as far as the Ookami's talents went, himself included.

One would expect a man that spent a good deal of his time around sources of loud noises would have terrible hearing thanks to the constant abuse. This wasn't so with Jamie, in fact, he had managed to get even better at hearing hushed phrases, or at least better at piecing together phrases when not all of it was heard. So it was a blink and a confused look as he listened to Kaji, then he rolled his eyes. "Then they all need ta sod off and open their bloody eyes." He said decisively, nodding at his own words.

In spite of his hatred of being comforted and pitied, Kaji found his mouth twitching into a small (very small) smile.
"Thanks," he mumbled quietly. Then, realizing what had just occurred, the Ookami immediately tried to take back his words. "Although i-it's not like I need your sympathy or anything!" His face felt warm- a warning of a possible blush-to-be- and his words were unnecessarily fast. "I'm doing fine alone, thankyouverymuch."

Jamie's heart leaped at the sight of the smile and he resisted the urge to laugh at Kaji's quickened speech. How cute could one person be? This couldn't POSSIBLY be legal... "Never even crossed my mind." He assured, holding up both hands submissively. He had never wanted to be pitied (except for those occasions it could finagle him some make up sex, but that rarely happened) so he assumed everyone else didn't either, and that seemed to be working out well for him.

"Well... good then." Kaji shifted his gaze away from the other redhead awkwardly. In lacking the confidence to find words, he also lacked the ability to make eye contact. Honestly, as far his he was concerned the conversation was gradually going downhill. Not that it was Jamie's fault- Kaji just had serious social issues. His people skills could do with some drastic improvements. He started to get the feeling that it would probably be easier to just leave; although that could most likely be considered rude. Not that the Ookami cared about other people's feelings (he didn't care at all!), but...
There was still a feeling of reluctance.
Somehow...

Jamie wasn't so smashed that he couldn't tell when someone wanted to leave, or at least was really considering it. He figured it might be best to offer the redhead a way out. "Hey, you should probably head home before ya get too wasted, you've actually got a life goin' on." He gave a big grin to Kaji, signalling that it was fine if the other wished to leave.

Kaji gratefully took that as his cue to go before he fucked up and said something really stupid (which was more likely than not). "Yeah," the redhead mumbled, sliding off the barstool. He still had assignments to turn in and tutoring to do in the morning. The Ookami didn't think his peers would appreciate havin to deal with him being hung over on top of his normally sour attitude. "...thanks for the drinks," he managed. Keeping the words to a minimum seemed like a good idea. But still, with a college student's budget even Kaji could be appreciative of free things.

Jamie held out a hand for Kaji to shake. "No trouble, mate." He reassured cheerfully. "Stop by the Allure sometime if ya really wanna thank me, I could always use the company on the slow nights." Despite his hopes that Fred would loosen up a little if he got a girlfriend, he had yet to be shown any signs of that happening. Kaji was fun, at least. And if Seishy was there that would just make things all the more fun.

Kaji shook Jamie's outstretched hand after quite some hesitation. "Yeah, we'll see." His tone was gruff, betraying none of the uncertainty he felt. The Allure really didn't sound like his kind of place, but he wasn't quite prepared to say no.
After a moment the Ookami stepped back, roughly shoving his hands into his jacket pockets. For a second it seemed like Kaji was going to add something, but instead he just turned and made his way out of the bar.

Jamie grinned and watched the redhead walk off. A handshake, voluntary physical contact from a young man who seemed to abhor it... that was definitely a step. Not as big a step as he would normally take, but a step nonetheless. He turned back to the bar on his stool, beaming at Freed.
"You look like you won the lottery, Jamie." The barman remarked, drying a glass with a raised brow.
"Mmmm~" Jamie hummed, chuckling. "Not yet, but I'm getting there." The fact that he hadn't jumped the guy's bones was enough of an indicator that there was something special about the redhead. What could he say? He liked the cute ones.
