Jane sat in thoughtful silence for a moment before a soft, grateful smile made its way onto her face. "Thank you," she murmured quietly. She sat frozen for a few moments longer before clearing her throat and continuing to finish working on the papers.
"Forgive me for asking, but did you lose someone close to you?" The Ookami regretting asking the question the moment it left her mouth. That was way too personal! She had no right to ask that. "I mean, it just sounded like you were speaking from experience and I was curious so... But you don't have to answer if you don't want to. I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable."

Hi smiled gently, with a twinge of sadness, "Don't worry yourself, Jane. My parents died a long time ago. They were doctors, after they... passed away in a... street fight, trying to help the wounded. I became a doctor after they passed I've practiced medicine since I was sixteen." There was silence after that. That's why Hi was neutral when it came to gangs, she was apart of one, but that was only because her parents were. But they thought the same way as she did, no matter who it was, they would get help if they asked.

"Oh. I'm so sorry." How painful that must have been, to lose both parents at such a young age. Jane still had her father, in a manner of speaking. Though in a way, when Mom had died, they had kind of lost him too. Everything that had made him their dad had vacated his being, leaving him a empty shell filled with violence and anger. Not that Jane herself had really noticed. Persephone and Demetri had done a very good job of hiding that from her.
"My mom was sick. I don't think they ever really figured out what was wrong with her. Maybe if she'd had a better doctor, one like you..." The blonde shook her head violently. Why was she still reminiscing about her mother, whose voice she barely recalled and whose face she no longer remembered? There were a lot more... recent deaths she should have been focusing on. Though they were still taking their time with sinking in.

Hi smiled gently at the girl, the confused look that crossed her face. Hi set aside the paperwork and folded her hands on her desk. She spoke softly, "You can talk about it Jane, I'll listen." She said it seriously, then her tone softened, "Listening is one of my specialties."
It was, Hi was a jack of all trades in the medical world. To be honest, she was surprised that she hadn't yet lost her mind with all the things she knew. Hi spoke again, soft and calm, "I listen to whatever you want, and I'll advise you if you need it. All right?"
Hi's voice was calming, or so she had been told. It apparently had the effect to make people spill their deepest, and darkest secrets to her. But to be honest, she didn't really realize that her voice was persuasive that way.

"It's not that it's hard to talk about, I'm still just having trouble letting everything sink in myself." She shook her head again, but less violently this time. "I was in a car accident about a year ago. My brother and two of my friends died. I was the only one that came out alive." Her golden eyes clouded over as her mind was slowly taken by her memories. "Other than Persephone and Kaito, they were really all I had left. And those two had both left the city a long time ago." Despite the sad words, the blonde managed a smile. "That's why I'm so happy I found them, you know. I've never really been alone, because I had Van with me, but now I have human friends too."

Hi smiled, "That's good!" There was a moment of silence, it wasn't an awkward silence, but a comfortable one. Hi waved her hand in a keep-going motion, "You started talking so if you want to say anything else, spit it out." Hi felt more comfortable now, with Jane. Poor child, being so young and experience something so tragic. But if Hi said this a loud... to pity her, she did not think that Jane would take it so well. She didn't seem that type of girl.

"Um... Well..." Jane paused and then continued. "It's just, my sister has a flat in town, and I'm going to be living there too. Only thing is, she's starting to run low on cash, and neither of us have jobs." God, she felt so weird asking this. "Would the hospital be hiring by any chance? I don't have medical training but I can do office work...."

Hi almost shot through the ceiling, she ran out her chair and took Jane by the hands, "Be my assistant!" She practically yelled at her, but Hi was grinning so much that it hurt. How life could be so much better with this child around!
Jane would be perfect for her... she could go where Hi went and filled out the paperwork while she worked with her clients. She could even assist her in operations, if she took a nursing program that the hospital offered. It would be absolute heaven!!

Jane was a little surprised at Hi's ethusiasm. After recovering from her initial shock, the blonde grinned wildly, her voice a cheerful stutter. "Yes! O-o-of course!" She laughed. "Thank you so much!"

Hi grinned as well, "It's my pleasure! We'll just sign up up at the desk once were done with the paperwork!" Then Hi started to think, speaking mostly to herself, "We'll need to get a desk... then a ID. There will probably some courses you need to take... they may cost, but I'll pay if you can't."
Hi kept going, speaking more to the girl beside her, "But once you get settled and are stable with your income, you'll owe me." She smiled at the blond, Hi was ecstatic! She would finally have someone else do the paperwork instead of her!
