"Jeez, when did you get so heavy?" Kaito growled as he carried a bleeding Persephone piggy-back style through the hospital parking lot. If she had been able to, the Tora girl would've punched him.
"Shuddup. I didn't ask you to carry me anyway." Her brow furrowed as her lips twitched into a pout. Kaito let out a sigh.
"You're bleeding... everywhere. Obviously walking here yourself is out of the question. And last time I checked, you shouldn't be driving." Persephone mumbled something incoherent in response before falling silent. Kaito shook his head with a grunt. "You're such an idiot. Why do you always do this to yourself? What if I hadn't been there to help you?" His companion rolled her eyes.
"What are you, my mother?" She snorted. "It wasn't my fault. Idiot pulled out a gun during a knife fight." The Tora made a noise of strong distaste. "Everyone has guns now. My switchblade's as good as useless."
"Good. Maybe that'll teach you to keep outta trouble."
"Screw you!" Kaito's icy eyes narrowed and he dropped Persephone into a waiting room chair, with much less care than was nessacary. The Tora girl crossed her arms with a scowl as her friend walked over to the front desk.
"Could you get someone to help my friend over there?" He told the receptionist as he motioned over to Persephone. "She was an idiot and got herself shot."
"Clipped in the shoulder, not shot!" The girl cried from across the room. "It's completely different!"

Hi walked down the hall to the waiting room when she heard an odd couple of kids, bickering like an old married couple. She turned the corner to find a boy with dark hair asking for some help. Before the receptionist could reply, Hi said to her, "I got it Julie."
She girl behind the desk smile gratefully and turned to the computer. Really these kids didn't even go to the emergency room entrance. Just ridiculous, she thought to herself. Hi walked over to the girl bleeding in the chair, and she moved the girl's shirt to the side, revealing a bloody shoulder. As she did this she made a gesture to the dark haired boy, to come closer. She turned her head slightly looking at the wound closely then she turned her head in the other direction, so she could look at the bleeding girl's companion, "Boy, come here. Help me with your friend."
She then swiveled her head to the girl and said sternly, "Really, your bleeding all over these perfectly nice chairs."
And when the boy didn't move she stood and said, "Come on! Your friend can't bleed here all day. Hurry it up now, and follow me." Hi smiled and waited for the pair to get a move on.

"Yes Ma'am," Kaito stated, not with sarcasm, but respectfully. His mother had always been firm about learning to except older women... although this chic couldn't have been more than a year older than he was. Still, Azumi's lessons ran deep. The Tora moved forward to help with Persephone although he wasn't really sure what to do with her. He opened his mouth and began to ask, "What do I...?"

"Help her into this wheel chair." Hi said immediately, a wheel chair seemed to appear next to her out of thin air. And she pushed it toward them, "Watch her shoulder, it's not just a gaze."
She took a handkerchief from her coat pocket and placed it over the girl's wound. It would help to stop the blood, for now.
She said to the girl, "Your shoulder it badly wounded, and the bullet grazed your bone. When it hit the bone, it shattered, leaving fragments through your muscle and tissue. Also, the bullet shot at you wasn't a very good one, it left some metal behind. This metal, if not removed, will... even if you stitched the wound... get infected and you would have died with in two months."
Then she smiled, "That would have been very bad, don't you think?" Then she stood up and sighed, really she had a ton of work to do. Then she swiveled back to the kids, "Good thing you have me."
She grinned, really there seemed like there were no doctors in this hospital. If any normal nurse would have gotten these two, the girl would have died for sure. Hi turned again and said to the pair, "Were going to room one, there's another patient in there, she's nice. I promise." Hi patted the wheel chair, "Let's get a move you two!"

"I told you it wasn't just a graze," Kaito retorted under his breath. Persephone would've clocked him over the head if she'd actually had use of her arm. "What did you do to get yourself shot anyway?"
"I told you, the moron pulled out a gun turning a knife fight. Unsportsman like conduct." Persephone clucked her tongue in disdain. Kaito rolled his eyes.
"What'd you do to piss somone off bad enough to shoot you was what I meant."
"Oh," Persephone looked quite smug. "He was a drunken idiot who took a stab at my pride. I thought it'd be an easy win." Her companion shot her a wary glance, one which said he wasn't convinced. While tough, Persephone didn't just go picking possibly fatal fights with people. Unless...
"Are you sure you weren't drunk?" Kaito asked cooly. Persephone glared at him, all the optimism drained from her face. "You and I both know you get wasted whenever you're upset." There was a moment of silence. For the first time the Tora girl looked truly offened.
"I'm a not an alcoholic," she muttered bitterly. Kaito fell silent. He knew she was probably thinking of her father, or her brother Demetri. Both had been terrible addicts, something Persephone was truly ashamed of.
Kaito sighed. This certainly wasn't the way he'd planned to reunite with Persephone. Then again, what had he expected other than her to be chest-deep in trouble? Especially when he wasn't around to keep an eye on her antics...

Hi cleared her throat, "Ah-hem." Then she patted the wheel chair again, "Not that your conversation isn't interesting and all, but I'm one of the only doctors here,"
Not to mention psychiatrist, therapist and everything else she was, "And I have plenty of lives I need to save, including..."
She turned toward the girl and pointed a finger at her, "Yours." She smiled and wheeled the chair closer to the girl, if the boy didn't put that girl's butt in this chair soon, she was going to do it herself. And none to gently.

Kaito immediatly scooped up Persephone and placed her in the wheelchair, this time with more care. His eyes, once filled with the icy look of scorn, were filled with something softer. He'd missed Persephone, he really had. Despite all her rude, abusive defects, she was still someone he valued.

Hi smiled and wheeled the girl into room one, where Jane was staying. The curtain around her bed was drawn, cloaking the sleeping Jane next door. Hi wheeled the girl next to the bed but didn't bother to try to move her on it.
Hi went over to the small desk in the room and pulled out a pair of scissors, tweezers, disinfectant, bandages, a scalpel, a small metal dish, two medical masks and rubber gloves. After getting everything she needed, she handed the boy the second medical mask and said, "Put it on."
As she put her's on as well. then she cut away the girl's shirt without warning but if her patient didn't like it, she could go somewhere else. She worked quickly as she said, "I'm working on you but I don't even know your name, I'm Doctor Hi no Hana, I've been a doctor for seven years and in case your wondering I am pretty young, I'm twenty two. So... you are?" She disinfected the wound and wiped away the blood as best she could before she got to work.
Then she went back to the desk grabbing a small bottle and a needle, it was a numbing agent used to numb the tissue and muscle. She injected it above the wound on her patient and wait a minute so it was fully active. Then she got to work first she cut into the wound, as she said, "I need to make sure I get everything, so I have to make the wound bigger... sorry." She pulled away the skin and found that the fragments weren't as bad as she made it sound.
She dug into the muscle, being as gentle as possible, pulling out the fragments and then the metal paint from the bullet. She was silent, concentrating on her work, it didn't take long and then she was done. She disinfected the wound again and went over to the desk, which she thought was magical and yet again pulled out stitches and a needle.
She pulled out a lighter, heating the needle and then digging it into the disinfectant. She began to close the wound. It took about ten minutes, and she was finished. She took off the mask and sighed, then smiled, "All done."

Persephone had remained pretty calm throughout the entire procedure; she hadn't even allowed herself to wince. She wasn't the type to show pain, even after getting shot. It was the only thing the Tora could pride herself on nowadays. She really didn't have much else she liked about herself, although she never acted like it.
"Professional surgery sure beats Nana and a pair of scissors, eh Kaito?" Persephone chuckled. This was from the days of her hospital-phobia, which had set in after her mother died. Thankfully, in more recent years, it had passed. But before it had she'd always gone to a friends house and had them handle everything. That could explain why she had so many scars...

Hi put her hands on her hips, "Well I sure hope so." She was assuming that she was better then this Nana person. Or else that would be really sad, really sad.
She wouldn't even be able to call herself a doctor. She went over to the sink in the corner of the room and threw away the fragments she had removed and began to wash the blood off the dish, as she did this, she said over her shoulder, "There shouldn't be much scaring, as long as you don't scratch or try to remove the stitches." She dried her hands and then checked on Jane, who was fast asleep. The monitor was normal and so were her brain waves. She could leave by tomorrow.
She didn't remove the curtain but walked around it, getting a clipboard from her desk and asked some questions to her two guest, "Miss, what's your name and how old are you?" Then she turned to the boy and asked, "Am I to assume you are her guardian?"

Persephone opened her mouth and looked over at Kaito, only to have him cut her off.
"I'm the one who'll be taking care of her, yes," he replied quickly. Although his friend was already nineteen, he still thought of her as the little first-year he'd met in highschool; tough but in need of protecting. Persephone grinned softly and turned over to Hi. Normally she didn't like giving out her last name to people (for fear of her father discovering her whereabouts) but there really wasn't another choice.
"Persephone Touzoko," the Tora murmured hastily, using her good arm to fuss with her hair.
Meanwhile, Jane was begining to stir.

Hi blinked, Touzoko? She glanced over at Jane, she was stirring, she could see and the more she looked, the more Persephone and Jane looked alike. Sisters? Or maybe cousins? Then she asked Persephone, "Do you have any family... like a sister perhaps?" She asked urgently, She wasn't sure if Jane had mentioned a sister but it didn't seem that either of them really expected to run into... each other. Hopefully Jane would stay asleep, and hopefully this situation wouldn't end up with screaming and blood.

Kaito shot Persephone a quick glance, wondering how she would respond to the question. He hadn't really been around for any of the "post-run-away" events, so he didn't exactly know how she felt about the whole thing. However, the Tora did know his friend, and he knew she was probably still on the sore side about it... Whether the negativity was directed at her family or herself was the only mystery.
"I used to," Persephone replied slowly, fighting off a scowl, "but not anymore." Why would Hi find it nessacary to ask such a question? It was probably routine, the Tora told herself, but somehow it didn't feel that way.

Hi nodded, trying not to look too surprised nor stutter when she spoke, "I see... um. Excuse me a moment." She went to the other side of the curtain and closed it all the way around the bed Jane laid on and check her condition.
She really hoped that she was wrong about this, but with the vibe that she was getting off of Persephone and how Jane didn't really mention a sister... that if they really were sisters, that they must of... hated each other. Jane didn't seem like a person who would someone, but yet again, Hi didn't know anything about the pair. She didn't even know how they grew up, now a days family have fallen apart because of divorce or they parents were dead or abandoned the child earlier in life.
She just hoped that this wouldn't end in a blood bath or worse. Hi returned from the curtain that surrounded Jane's bed and said quietly, "Sorry, we were talking too loud, your um... roommate was waking up, so lets talk softly before I go get some IVs for you." She opened the computer that was on the desk and type what she knew so far and asked, "Do you have any medical conditions or allergies?"
She type softly and quickly eyed the curtain surrounding Jane hoping to God (which she didn't do often) that those two weren't sisters or that if they were, that they never met in the hospital like this.

"Not that I'm aware of," Persephone responded quickly, glancing over that the now-closed curtain. Kaito's eyebrows rose.
"Really? I was sure your severe stupidity had to be some sort of medical condition." It took all the Tora girl had to refrain from giving her friend and good throttling. And he said he never understood why she was so abusive to him. He brought it on himself.
