Jeremiah sat in a chair beside Madoka's bed. Thankfully, she hadn't actually been hurt in the fight between Aiden's group and Kyle's group. However, she was unexplainably unconscious, and the boyish Ookami hoped the doctor would have a good word to say about Madoka's condition.

Keisko was about to go to go help with Hotaru, until she heard that Madoka was also in the hospital. So she left Dr. Stevens with Hotaru, Jack and Matsu and ran to Madoka's room. She noticed a short kid sitting in the chair beside her bed.
"What happened?" She asked in shock.

Jeremiah looked up to see the nurse walk in and hear her question. He took off his hat, so as to give his hands something to do (and inadvertantly letting his wild black hair stick out in all directions) as he realized that he didn't quite know the whole story.
"She just kinda..." the boyish adult trailed off, snapping his fingers absentmindedly. "snapped, I guess. Poor girl was having a screaming match with Tekka about losing people, and then she just went..." Jeremiah simply gestured toward the bed with Madoka on it. "That's all I really know."

Keisko just stared at Madoka. She was both scared for the girl, worried and felt horrible... What had Keisko missed when she left for those few weeks...?
Slowly she made her way to Madoka's side and took her hand. A chill ran through her so Keisko removed her hand and proceeded to take Madoka's pulse. At least she was alive...
She grabbed the chart on the end of the bed and methodologically wrote down the pulse, which was normal. She also took her respirations, although Madoka's eyes were open, Keisko knew that Madoka couldn't actually see her. Her eyes were unfocused and looked like glass. Keis closed her eyes and took an unsteady breath.
As she opened her eyes, Keisko looked away and grabbed the thermometer. Then went ahead and took her temperature. She had a low temperature... She then took her blood pressure which was a tad bit too high.
What was wrong with her little Madoka?

Jeremiah had never met this woman before, but after seeing how much she obviously cared for Madoka, he figured they must be related. Either that, or some such other thing. The boyish Ookami cleared his throat quietly, a sound that would just barely get the woman's attention. If she know Madoka, then perhaps she'd be the one to help make sure the girl would be cared for. Even so, Jeremiah wanted to help. The strange thing was that he didn't know why.

Keisko looked up from the chart at the guy in the chair. "Yes?" she asked quietly, her voice was weak and overcome with emotion.
She didn't know this boy.. but he didn't seem too bad. She wondered why he was with Madoka...

"I... I was there when she got like this," began Jeremiah. He didn't know quite how to word what he wanted to say, and decided to just say it any way he could. "Even though she was armed and looked about ready to attack Tekka, I think she's probably a good kid, and well... I want to help look after her." The boyish Ookami wanted to explain why he wanted to do so; it was because of the things that Duel Spirit had said, about Madoka not having anyone left. However, there was no way the nurse would believe him, and would very likely result in his admittance into the psych ward.

Holy crap... what was all that sound coming from? Everything was so loud, why was that? Madoka was slowly coming back from... where had she been, anyway? She couldn't tell, it didn't feel like when she was in that coma for a few days. It was... scary, she couldn't even describe it.
Madoka's eyes slowly started to come back into focus, blinking once or twice before turning her head to look at the people in the room with her. There was that guy she had seen with Tekka at the school before floating off to who-knows-where, then there was... Keisko?
Keisko? Where had she been? Madoka had been here suffering for how long and she has just now deciding to show up again?! This was weird, the little Ookami had this sort of feeling bubbling inside of her for the first time in her life... this was the first time she had actually experienced rage. She could already tell she didn't like the feeling, but at the same time, she didn't want to get rid of it either.

Keisko was looking at the kid in shock. Why was he wanting to take Madoka from her? What had she missed? Keisko slowly sank down in the chair by the door. Her eyes fell on the unconscious little girl Keisko was supposed to be looking after.
She looked back at Jeremiah, her voice barely a whisper. "Why...?" This was the question that's plagued her since her mother's disappearance... Why had her mother disappeared? Why was this kid trying to take her only family left?
She looked back at Madoka and gasped. Her eyes were open and she was staring at Keisko with a glare of outright rage... Keisko had never seen this from Madoka!
Keisko stood up shakily and walked to the little girl's bedside. She wanted to help her... somehow... but for some reason, all of Keisko's thoughts went out the window and she was assaulted by feelings of guilt and hurt. Oh Madoka... I'm so sorry... Her mind said as her own lips wouldn't form the words. What would Madoka say..?

Jeremiah wanted to answer the nurse's question, but he couldn't for two reasons. First, it seemed like she wasn't so much asking him, but asking herself. Second... he didn't quite know the answer, even if she was asking him.
"I just want to help," answered the deceivingly older Ookami. "It seems like, from what I heard at the school... that she doesn't have a lot of people to make her feel safe. I just thought I would offer to lend a hand."

Madoka took a moment to listen to Keisko and the other Ookami for another few seconds before sitting up finally. She refused to look at Keisko, but tilted her head oddly at the guy. Why was he wanting to help her? There was no point in asking, he had just tried answering it the best he could, anyway.
She opened her mouth to talk, not hearing anything come out. Confused, she tried clearing her throat, then tried talking again. Still nothing. Her eyes widen, getting a little scared. 'Calm down, calm down,' she said in her mind. 'Maybe if I scream...?' She decided to try it out.
"!!!" She tried screaming as loud as she could, but nothing came out! She knew she wasn't deaf, she had just heard them talk a moment ago. She was in a wide panic now, almost ready to jump off her bed and try screaming again.

Keisko was confused. Why wasn't Madoka talking? She looked like she was trying... but nothing came out. Keisko started to panic but took a deep breath and placed her hand on Madoka.
"'Doka, you have to calm down." She said softly as she pressed a button. Keisko had no idea what was wrong with her. She just knew something terrible was wrong. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number to one of neurology doctors.
"Doctor Adams. I need you in room 305 stat." She said into the phone. "We're going to need an MRI for Madoka Mizu. She's gone mute." The doctor agreed and hung up.
She looked at Jeremiah. "If you really want to help her, you'll stay out of the way." As much as Keisko wanted to trust this kid, she had a job to do. He would only cause trouble. "So stand back and let us do our job. If you ever hope to take care of Madoka, you're going to have to prove yourself. To me." She said firmly, her eyes on the verge of tears. She couldn't believe what was happening to her little Madoka. She was going to get it fixed, she was going to do whatever was necessary to help her. Keisko had to fix what happened when she was gone.

"Of course," agreed Jeremiah as he nodded and sat back in his chair. "I don't intend to get in the way; I'm not a professional. Hell, I never went to school. As for proving myself, when Madoka is taken care of here, just tell me what you need to do. I won't let you down." The Ookami wished with just about all his might that he could explain, even to himself, why he wanted so badly to help. Maybe it was the lack of protection he had provided for Kyle and Joshua, or maybe it was because he never had felt like he could do enough to really be a help.

Madoka listened to Keisko and Jeremiah for a moment, since she was about all she could do. She was still panicking, why couldn't she talk? What was the last thing she even said?
"Everyone's gone." rang through her mind as she answered her won question, and she suddenly remembered why she was so mad at everyone. She suddenly shook herself away from Keisko and backed herself into the furthest corner in the room. She wanted to get away from everything, she wanted away from these... these liars! They promise they'll be there for her and they leave! They all leave! Mommy and Daddy died, Aunt Serenity was too weak, Keisko had left without telling her anything, Aiden... she didn't know what happened to Aiden exactly. Did he die?! Was he alright?!
The youngest of the Ookami's started panicking even more, beginning to pull at her hair and rolling into a ball. 'This is the last night you'll spend alone...' This was the one line running through her mind for the moment. She wished it were true, part of her wanted to believe that, but for some reason she just couldn't pull herself together enough to fully believe it.

Keisko released Madoka and backed away. Other doctors ran in and started to subdue the little girl. The anger in her eyes was too much to bear. She backed up to the opposite side of the room as more doctors ran in, one with a wheelchair so they could take her to the MRI. Keisko felt horrible because Madoka hated her. She quickly backed out of the room, with-holding tears. She couldn't do anything... she couldn't help... she'd missed her chance...
