Madoka slowly felt herself begin to wake up. Where was she? Was this Heaven? Hell? Her blue eyes began to clear up as she realized that she was in the hospital.
The fifteen year old stayed laying on the bed she was on, only looking around to see a few wires hooked up to her in the empty room. The brunette sighed, so it didn't work after all huh?
It had been... she wasn't even sure how long ago it was, really. She hardly even remembered what all had happened. All she remembered was sitting in the barracks at HQ. There wasn't anyone around for once, and at the worse time possible, too. The young teen had had enough of living like nothing bothered her, like she could be happy all the time and never frown. It was driving her mad! That was right around the time she picked up a small, yet sharp pocket knife she had kept on her...
She looked down at her wrists. They were bandaged up pretty tight, who knows how much blood she lost that night...
Madoka felt a few tears fall down her face. Great, now everyone would know about this. Why couldn't she have just died that night instead of just passing out? It would have been so much easier that way, at least that was how she would have planned it all...
She started to wonder who exactly found her in the barracks first. Was it someone she knew? If so, would they be visiting her anytime soon? She certainly hoped so, the Ookami couldn't bare being alone for too much longer...

Aiden noted the slight shifting of Madoka from the door and beckoned over a nurse from the hall. He didn't dare enter the room himself until the nurse had checked the girl out, but he was going to stick around to make sure he hadn't rescued her for nothing.
"Heya." The nurse, a friendly woman with red hair and green eyes said gently to the girl in the bed. "Are you awake?"

The brunette jumped when she heard the nurse, not yet completely aware of everything. "Umm..." she trailed off, voice softer than usual. "I guess..." she wasn't entirely awake, at least she didn't think so anyway, but that would clear up soon enough.
Madoka tried sitting up a little before looking up at the nurse. "How long have I been here?" she asked. "... And how did I even get here?" those were her two mainly questions at the moment. She could wait for to ask the other stuff running through her mind.

"Well," The nurse said. "You're in the hospital." She explained, picking up Madoka's chart and examining it, "And you've been here for about, oh, three days or so." She tapped her chin. "As for how you got here, than man there," She gestured to the door, where Aiden had entered the room only slightly and looked rather awkward.
The nurse then introduced herself. "My name's Ai, Ai Toko, I'm going to be taking care of you." With that, she busied herself changing the bandages and refilling the IV. "You really had us worried, why..." She chattered aimlessly, filling the room with her voice.
The giant who had been looming in the doorway stepped forward a bit more, more than a little uncomfortable. He wasn't afraid of hospitals, but visiting people just wasn't his thing.

Madoka ignored the nurse when she started talking. The happy go lucky Doka wasn't exactly there at the moment, after all. When she noticed Aiden come in rather awkwardly, she just looked at him oddly. Why him of all people? She hardly knew him, and he didn't really seem like the kind to help people all too much, at least that was her impression of it all.
When the bandages were removed she saw just how many cuts there were on her arms, it scared her, too. Did she really do all that to herself...?
Shaking the feeling off at the moment, she looked back to Aiden with an awkward look on her face. She wasn't sure if she should thank him or be mad because he ruined it all for her.

Aiden gave a shrug in response to whatever Madoka was trying to say. Talking with Ms. Bubbly around probably wouldn't work out so well and the Ookami opted not to really speak until she left the room. Thankfully, the work was done quickly and she bid the two a fond farewell and that if they needed anything to give her a call.
The brunette looked towards Madoka. "You've got a question?" He guessed, judging by her look. He was most likely wrong though, younger kids were always harder to read.

"Why?" she asked him, blank expression on her face. "You ruined it." she then muttered under her breath as she looked down at her arms. "Now everyone's gonna know about the mask I put up..."

Aiden simply shrugged. "I could say you're a little too young to have a mask, but then I'd be a hypocrite." He moved to a chair a little ways away and sat. "But I can say that you're a little young to, you know, die." Even Aiden didn't have a death wish, despite his many fights and lack of self-care.

Madoka looked back at him once again. "You don't know what I've gone through." she told him. "People always think of me as this hyper little girl that's all smiles and cheer. I'm sick of it, it's just a big fat lie..." the Ookami girl looked rather emotionless for once.
"I just wanted it all to end, and it almost happened, too." she told him blankly. No one had seen this side of her before. Everyone had seen her pout, laugh, grin. Few had seen her cry, but no one had actually seen her to the point to where she wanted to kill herself. It was an alien like idea to most people that knew the girl, yet the thought had always been in the back of her head. She had just never acted on it until now.

Aiden sighed. "Why?" He asked, flipping the question that Madoka had had back at her. "Why would you want to kill yourself?" He clarified, keeping his eyes on her and checking her responses. What would be so terrible that the bright and generally happy Madoka would commit (or attempt, at least) suicide?

Madoka didn't answer at first, she hated going through this story. After a while she gave him a rude look. "Things like your mom dying 'cause of yourself, watching your own father die right in front of you, and dealing with it all without your best and only friend 'cause they left for ten years tend to drive you insane after a while." she flat out told him.
"You start to build a wall around yourself, yet you don't want people to see that wall so you cover it up with hyperactivity and cheerfulness, and after a while even that can't help you anymore, it only adds on to the madness going on in your head because you know you're just living a fake life that way." she decided to end it all with.

Aiden listened patiently and then retaliated after a moments pause. "I watched my sister kill my mother." He started. "And then I have to watch her grow up guiltless. I was sent to therapy here, they have my records, and I managed to get out by using my own sort of mask." He kept his face neutral, only tapping his fingers on the chair. "No friends after that, I assure you, and none during it either." Elementary School students were notoriously terrible, an eight year old fresh out of the psych ward was no exception.
"You grew depressed, I got murderous." His voice began taking on an air of finality. As of yet, he hadn't directly killed anyone (not for lack of trying mind you). "And we both went on as if we were fine for years. I think I understand a bit more than you think I do."

Madoka only shook her head. After a moment or two she responded. "So you tryin to say we're the same or something?" she asked to clarify. That'd be an odd thing to imagine, Madoka and Aiden, alike? Then again, that all leads back to the mask idea and what lays behind it.

Aiden shrugged. "Just saying that your situation doesn't have to be the end of it. Eventually the mask will shatter, like yours did earlier this week, and it doesn't always have to hurt. Sometimes it's... like stepping out of an icy river. You're unsteady and shaking, but the pressure is gone." He blinked, wondering where that bit of inspiration had come from. It had happened to him once, the rest of the times his mask of cold calm shattered it had led to violence. The mask probably wouldn't ever leave him though, he had had it for too long, but Madoka might have a chance.

Madoka shrugged too. "Whatever." she muttered. "Every time the mask shatters, I just put it back together and put it back on, like I will when i get out of here." she told him. "And maybe I like being in the river, it makes people think I'm invincible, that nothing bothers me." she wasn't so sure if she worded that right, she wasn't that use to speaking figuratively after all.
