Tekka's thoughts were currently converged on the screen in front of her, though the rest of her body relaxed against Kage. The plot was thickening, and if that was the Core of Time then Dark Earth or whatever the place was was really just a future form of the earth... Talk about creepy...

"You promised me, Professor..." replied the clone menacingly. "I've completed your task, so tell me why I can't remember." This statement was accompanied by a wince from RU 5/03 as he brought his other hand up to his temple. The shady scientist sighed deeply and looked down.
"You... are artificial," he explained sympathetically. "I created you to retrieve the Core for me, and to do nothing else..." The exposition barely managed to get past his ancient lips, however, before a purple double-arrow of light struck him in the chest, sending him flying backward and into the side of the stasis tank where his own creation once slept.
"You dare lie to me?!" shouted the clone, his eyes ablaze. He stepped over to the pedestal, and the two spheres that were embedded into it levitated out and spun around him. The Core that he held soon joined them.
"Put those down..." a voice demanded from off-screen.

Well that was to be expected, the little Tora mused, munching absently on M&Ms. Clones always went against creators (or activators, whichever) in movies. Probably the whole 'I was created and not born, why am I here?' conundrum that seemed to follow them everywhere like a dark cloud of angst.

The clone turned as the words rang out through the ruined laboratory. He looked quite surprised to see none other than Sam, trying to strike a confident pose.
"Whoever you are..." finished the teenage scientist feebly. RU 5/03 laughed at him as a black aura formed with the spinning of the three spherical gems. As the laughter grew wilder, the clone's skin began to turn red, and his eyes became completely blackened. Sam ran forward to try and tackle his foe, but a darkening hand was raised, and the black forcefield held the inventor in place. There was a moment of struggle before RU 5/03's other hand was raised, sending Sam flying backward into an electrical panel of sorts. Parts smashed and glass shattered, allowing a current of violent electricity to surge through the poor teenager's body. As he lay there, the still-transforming clone floated forward, holding out his hand and somehow lighting it on fire. He looked about ready to fire his attack when Sam stood up, a golden forcefield of his own pulsing around him.

Oh-HO!! So Sam had superpowers did he? Perhaps Machine I's first test hadn't been on his friends, or maybe there had been a prototype. Then again, there was a possibility that his powers had nothing to do with the machine, but whatever.

With a smirk, the red being shot the fire around his hand at Sam in the form of a flaring beam. Sam looked doomed for a second, but a screen of laser-yellow electricity suddenly appeared to block the assault. The scientist took a step forward and pushed on the energy, turning it into a beam of his own. The two attacks seemed evenly matched for a second, but the electricity soon began to overwhelm the flames, pushing them toward their sender.
"You... cannot... STOP ME!" bellowed the transformed clone as a pair of small black wings flared out, causing the beam of fire to increase greatly. Again, it looked as though Sam might be cooked, but he let out an epic scream, and his electrical onslaught broke through the flames. The bright energy pervaded the darkness that surrounded RU 5/03, shattering it and sending the red entity sprawling to the floor. THe three jewels that had circled him scattered, and Sam caught the blue one as it began to glow white.
"Thanks for the ride, er..." said the teenager, scratching his head with his free hand. There was a groan, and his foe turned over to look at him, his blackened eyes gleaming in the light of the Core.
"My name... is Negative Charge..." he sputtered. "I want you to know it when I kill you someday, for I will repay you for this..."

Yup, Sam was a superhero, no doubt about it. The amount of control over his powers clinched it. Not to mention that if Mr M had entrusted a time-traveling orb to the inventor, there had to be SOME reasoning behind it.

"I don't think that's likely, Negative Charge," said Sam as he stepped into a portal that had sprung open when he took the Core of Time. In a flash of light, there was no more trace of the teenage inventor, and the body of Negative Charge lay there as a shadow crept over it. As a sinister laugh sounded, the shadow took a familiar form, one that hadn't been seen since about a quarter of the way through the movie.
The scene changed to show a repeat of when Sam jumped into the time portal. The wormhole closed, then promptly reopened to spit out a version of Sam whose hair was still quite messed up, due to the massive amounts of electricity he had just been handling. The young scientist held the Core up to his hot pink eyes as his voice played over with an echo to simulate a thought bubble.
"If this is really the Core of Time, I might be able to stop those things from happening..." rang the voice. "The only thing is..."
"How did that clone do it?" asked Sam aloud. "Maybe it responds to playback commands, like a DVD player..." He held up the blue orb with a look of uncertainty and spoke again. "Um... Rewind?" Suddenly, the rewind playback symbol appeared in yellow light behind him, and the sounds of everything being reversed could be heard. When the images settled, Sam was lying in bed again, eyes closed. They sprang open, and the inventor was standing in an instant, staring at his closet. Barely visible, but definitely there was the shadowy form of the being that would soon be Negative Charge. Sam pointed a sparking hand at his enemy, his face hardening. "Hey, uh... Negative Charge!"
"Is he talking to me?" wondered the thought-voice of the dark figure. "Perhaps not, but the name has a nice ring to it."
"I know you're there!" shouted Sam. "So why don't you, erm... come out of the closet?" A broad grin slid across the shadow's face as his eyes lit up and he solidified before Sam.
"So, we're resorting to insults now, eh, child?" he asked icily. The scientist's eyes narrowed.
"Enough with the 'child' crap!" he yelled, his eyes suddenly glowing in an electric blue color. He pointed at his enemy again, and the dark form was suddenly bound to the closet door, as if by some sort of magnetism.
"No..." groaned the shadow as he began to fade mysteriously. "How could you foil me?!"
"What's the matter?" taunted Sam as he reached for the pod on his nightstand. "Upset because you were beaten by a child?" With a pess of a button, the Core of Time was released, and in the teenager's hand.
"You... You CAN'T!" the shadow cried, losing color like crazy. His plea did no good, for Sam had already held up the gem, and it had begun to glow.
"Outta my sight, FAKER!" bellowed the inventor as a portal formed behind Negative Charge-to-be. There was a bloodcurdling scream as the shadowy form faded, disappearing before the portal could even close. Sam yawned and fell onto his bed, curling up for slumber, and the last thing that the camera showed before rolling the credits was a close-up of the boy, clutching the Core ot Time tightly in his hands.

Tekka felt a bit cheated. "What about all the other characters and their sub-plots?" She muttered. "And the falling action was nonexistent. It climaxed and dropped off..." Still, the acting was pretty solid, and it looked like there would be a sequel considering the evil-looking trio in the beginning had barely been touched upon.

Kage was just a bit confused at the ending of the movie. Hadn't Sam had a whole group of friends who also had superpowers? Given the name "Team I", shouldn't the film have touched more on the five of them becoming a crime-fighting team of sorts? Shaking his shaggy head, the giant stretched out his arms and arched back, causing several loud pops to occur as the credits rolled. While the names scrolled up the screen, there were various scenes of the other presumed heroes. Jess was practicing what looked to be a sort of wind attack, John was in his metal armor, firing various weapons, and Abby was busy inspecting a black jumpsuit with metal bands on the upper arms and a blue stripe down the center. At the end, there was a picture of all five heroes and the Team I logo, with a caption beneath that said... COMING IN 3002:
TEAM I: EXODUS

Tekka grinned. Looked like there was another movie she'd have to see. "You know, somehow I think this would do better as tv show..." She mused aloud, tapping her chin in thought.

Kage looked down at Tekka, contemplating her words with a long "Hmm...", and then standing up.
"Perhaps we'll write the creator and tell him so," he suggested with a grin. The giant was still trying to think of a way to ask Tekka if he could escort her home, so as to figure out how to tell the little Tora how he felt. This was precisely the problem with observing society and not participating...

"We should." Tekka agreed. She stood from her seat and stretched out her arms, not really wanting to leave Kage just yet. She liked having him around, and besides that... well... the whole thing with the arm hadn't felt bad.
"So, uh, do you mind walking me home?" She asked tentatively, deciding a justification would be good in case he took it the wrong (right?) way. "I mean, I'm sure it's dark out and it's not like I haven't gotten ambushed before..." She trailed off and scratched the back of her head, hoping to make the request seem like it was normal.

Thank you, High Potato... thought Kage, barely resisting the urge to look up to the sky and lace his fingers together. He looked down at Tekka and placed a hesitant arm around her. The giant wasn't quite sure how to do this...
"It'd be an honor, Tekka," he replied with a smile. Kage just hoped that they were once again thinking on the same lines as they walked out of the theater.
