Jack blinked and looked at Cross, only now noticing her. She didn't seem as happy or crazy as usual, probably the reason he had missed her in the first place. He grinned. "Heya Cross, fancy meeting you here!" He laughed and took a drink of his beer, enjoying the slight stinging sensation as it fell though his gullet.
His head was still focused on whether or not the two Megumi's were related, though the odds were certainly favoring 'yes.' Fire, the similar looks, and the last name. He hadn't know Hotaru had had a brother though...

Taking a large gulp of the "special" Coke as she called it, Cross turned off her ipod, stuck it in her pocket, grabbed her drink, and slipped off the barstool, walking over to the group of guys. "I think I'll join you all if you don't mind." She said, trying to smile, but not quite succeeding. She held out a hand to the Tora, then the other Ookami. "I'm Cross, and you are?" She asked both guys.

Matsuda smiled lazily after finishing off another beer. "Matsu.. su... da." he finally managed to finish. "You self...?" He turned to Jack, curious about why he brought up the sibling question. It seemed pretty random.
Though he turned too fast and ended up having to grab Jack's shoulder for support. He laughed a little too loud. "Sor' Jack," he said, trying to apologize. Normally people tend to act strange when they were tipsy or drunk, the only difference you would see with Matsuda was his balance and lack of proper sentence completion. "Wha did you... ask 'bout my sist...?" he asked. Hopefully he was able to understand his words, they weren't that confusing, after all.

Jack recovered quickly and gave a shrug. "I feel like I've seen you before, but I haven't see you around the base, so..." He gave another shrug and trailed off, allowing Matsuda to arrive at his own conclusion. With Kage and Cross around, there was no chance to really elaborate without the chance of someone overhearing her name. Jack wouldn't put her at risk like that.

"Huh." Matsuda muttered, returning to the bar to drink another beer. When he sat it down, a thought struck him.
"Hey wait..." he said "... Chika's bro?" he asked Jack. Same name, Ookami, just like she had told him at the Allure. He laughed. "She's pretty upset.. you won't tell her 'bout your girlfriend." he was starting to sound pretty annoying at this point, he'd no doubt regret it after he was back to himself again.
The blond looked back at the Kuma. "Cross, right?" he asked. "You seemed kinda... uh... sad...?" it was the best word he could come up with at the moment.

Cross was busy sulking when she heard the words girlfriend and Cross. "Huh?"
Then the rest of Matsuda's sentence caught up to her. "Oh... yea..." She mumbled downing the spiked Coke. "Today's not one of my good days..."

Matsuda's head tilted a little. "Well, you not the only one..." he told her, trailing off. "Wanna... talk about it? I'd spill if ya did." his smile seemed a little off as he tried talking to her.

Cross thought about it for a minute, took a drink of her replenished drink and then nodded with a sigh.
"3 years ago today, my older brother was murdered with his fiancée." She said quietly. Her face darkened and she quickly finished the drink, asking for another. "So I visited his grave today..." She shrugged, going for the Coke again.

Matsuda was a little surprised, but not that much considering the circumstances. "'Least you can find their graves..." he told her. "My... my sis died on this day, too... can't find her at the cemetary, though." he hit his head against the bar. "'Looked her up millions of times... 'Sorry, Hotaru Megumi isn't buried here.' they'd tell me."
He waved the bartender over. "Another beer." he said, chugging the next that came his way.

Cross sort of felt something close to sympathy towards the blonde but she wasn't used to those types of emotions, so she just registered it as something else. She sighed. "Did your sister die in front of you?" She asked, replaying the scene involuntarily in her mind. Looking out the window, explosion, body pieces flying everywhere. She quickly took a drink of her 'special' coke and the pictures floated elsewhere.

"No... Heard about it on the news." he sighed, sitting the drink down. "I hadn't even seen her for two years before that happened..." he frowned, obviously hurt. "She was such a good kid, too..."
Shaking his head, he looked up at Cross. "Did tha happen to you...?" he asked, though it wasn't necessary. "I'm sorry." Wow, this day really was depressing.

"Yup." She responded, popping the p. She sighed. "They blew him up." She said making an explosion sound, her hands in the air, portraying the fire and flying parts. The alcohol was starting to kick in thankfully.

Matsuda didn't really know what to say to that. He kept his attention on the bar as he took yet another drink. The alcohol had kicked in a little bit, but it wasn't enough for the reason he was here. He wanted to get his mind off of things. This only made it worse.
"Soooooooo" he said, his voice slowly decreasing in volume. "What shall we do, now?" he asked the group around him.

Jack took a few more gulps of beer during this exchange, managing to keep down a surprised look. Hotaru had a brother who thought she was dead and gone, and was drowning his sorrows over her 'passing' in beer. He'd have to talk to her about that, and talk to Matsuda whenever they were alone or when the beer wore off. Ideally both.
He decided not to bring up his own family woes, they didn't quite match up to Cross's or Matsuda's. Workaholic Dad and semi-robotic brother plus raising his sister (pluralize that if counting Chika, but she was only there for a few years) and having no mom to speak of didn't quite match up to seeing people die in front of your eyes.
"It's sad how often things like that happen." He said quietly, "More people die every day, more people have someone they miss in their lives. But you can't really move on no matter how much people say it'll help." Alright, maybe he was sort of bringing his own experiences into the conversation instead of just offering pity, but that was probably the better of the two to do.
"A drinking game?" Jack offered at the topic change, not entirely sure if that was the best thing to suggest to his clearly inebriated clanmate.

Cross grinned her signature grin. "That there Jackie, is a great idea! Name the game, the drink and lets get playin', I'm sure all of here need a little rush at the moment." She downed her 'special' coke and shook her head at Freed who was about to refill it. "Not right now, we're gonna be needing something a little stronger and more fun." She said with a twinkle in her eye. Her woes were all but forgotten, but at the moment, she wanted to do something fun and to help forget them.
