Things were always crazy when Yukiko visited her family. That was normal... if things went fine then there would be something to really worry about. In one visit she could get enough madness to last her the rest of the month, and the next few after that. But this had been quite... unexpected.
Yukiko now stood quietly on the beach, immune to how increasingly angry the wind and waves were getting, and the rapid darkening of the sky. It was just another storm, nothing to catch her notice. Nothing could get her attention at the moment. Nothing but the crumpled, smeared, and tear-stained letter that was held tightly in her hands. She didn't need to read the words. She didn't want to. Something in her heart kept her from looking down at the familiar scrawl, a hidden fear of what those words would say.
For so long she had longed for word from her father. She often thought of him, even though it hurt. Why had he left her? Couldn't he have stayed for her sake? Did he have any idea how much she hurt; how she still wondered if it was she who drove him off? His memory still brought so much pain...
And now she had his words. A letter. Was it an apology? An explanation? Yukiko didn't want to know. From the scowl on her Mother's face upon handing her the envelope to the almost heart-breaking sight of what was inside, Yukiko... couldn't stand it. After all these years of not even acknowledging her existence, he expected her to let go and forgive him?
Well, she wasn't about to forget those lonely nights, where she had just wondered where things went wrong. No. She. Was. Done. Without hesitating another moment, Yukiko shredded the letter and threw it into the wind, where it was quickly devoured by the waiting ocean.
The teen sank to her knees, her green eyes brimming with tears. If it was over, why was she still hurting?

Mel walked along the beach ignoring the crashing of the waves and the extremly strong winds. She let it blow in her face, she welcomed it.The sensation made her feel numb. The bad thing was all the memories.
How she kidded herself.
She couldn't cry.All the tears had left her eyes days ago but now she realised it all along but kidded herself he was coming back.Like on the beach with Jack or when she told Caitlin she'd find him.And now she had she wanted him to go away again.Anything was better than knowing that...
She pulled the silver locket out of her leather like shirt, the new look suprisingly useful. She fingered the old picture. The good times and looked round the beach.Until a hell load of paper hit her in the face. "What the hell littering isn't allowed!" she screamed as she turned around to see a familar face. "Yukiko!" she exclaimed running towards her to find her crying "I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell at you.The paper almost went in my eye" she cried hugging the girl "I'm sorry. Why are you crying?Whats wrong?" she asked full of concern.

Yukiko's thoughts were suddenly interrupted by an extremely annoyed and strangely familiar voice. "What the hell, littering isn't allowed!" Yukiko blinked tearfully and looked up to see Mel tearing the paper she had thrown away from her face. Quickly, the crying teen rose to her feet and dusted off the sand from her body, although she was unable to clear away the tears before she found herself scooped up in a hug. Her questions seemed worrisome and concerned.
"I-I..." Yukiko stuttered and found herself unable to respond. She sniffed, wiping away the tears, only to have more take their place. She made a sound that was halfway between a sob and laugh and turned to face the furious waves. "I don't even know what to say." She choked, just barely managing a grim smile.

She looked at Yukiko closely. She knew she'd been crying, the redness round her eyes and tears told all "How about you start at the begining?" she said to faceing the raging sea until she realised her locket was still out and she tucked it back in her shirt quickly. If anyone asked about it she would surely start crying again.

Yukiko swallowed another sob and blinked tearfully before pausing just long enough to take a few long, shuddering breaths and somewhat regaining her composure. Her green eyes, now downcast, flickered with pain as she managed two simple words.
"The tide." She murmured, squeezing her eyes tightly shut as she clenched her fists. Her knuckles rapidly began to turn white, but her grip didn't loosen. "That would be where to start." After a minute, Yukiko unclenched her fists and blinked, now finally able to make eye contact with her companion.
"I just feel like I have no control over this anymore. I've been hoping for this for years, but now..." Yukiko shook her head. "It's like wading into the ocean. It seems nice, until the tide pulls you too deep. Then you start drowning." The tearful teen scooped up her letter, gazing at it hatefully. "This... is a letter from my father."

Mel didn't understand the tide referance at first but it made perfect sense now.The more you search for somthing the more you find and somethings you don't want to know. It was becoming excedingly hard to refrain from crying.A letter from her father. She had now withdrawn the comment about Dad's sucking from the other night. She understood how letters could be painful. "What did it say?" she enquired.

"I have no idea." Yukiko murmured, still glaring at the paper, but with a sad smile on her face. "I didn't read past the first line. 'Dear Yukiko, I know this has probably been hard for you'... complete bull." She was now openly glowering, her tears hot and angry.

"I see" she said pondering on the responce that she should give. Being to nice could get annoying but being harsh wasn't always a good thing. She pondered. "They don't understand do they" she mused her tone laced with anger "They never understand" she said cracking and throwing a rock at the ocean

Yukiko nodded grimly, taking a handful of sand and letting it fly out of her grasp so that the now-rough wind blew it straight into the ocean. She then run her fingers through her mess hair a few times, fiddled with the edge of her shirt, and any other uncomfortable fidgeting she could. Tears still gathered in the corners of her eyes, but she wasn't openly crying anymore.
Yukiko took a deep, shuddering breath and sighed, plopping down on the sand, half-humming, half-singing whatever came to mind.
"Made my mistakes... got nowhere to run... the night goes on as I'm fading away... I'm sick of this life," she sniffed and fell silent, running her fingers through her hair again and again. "I'm sorry." She mused tiredly. "That's what they always tell us."

"It's okay.If it helps you" she said looking down. The silver chain snaped and the locket fell to the floor. She grabbed it in a swift movement and for a second was tempted to throw it into the sea again. This time to just walk away.If Jack hadn't been there last time it would still be there. "Need a new chain"

Yukiko blinked, looking at the fallen necklace and then back up at Mel. Somehow she just knew that it was just any old piece of Jewlery... and sentimentality in common objects she could easily understand. How many times had she just walked around with that old guitar, just for the sake of having in nearby?
"Even though the memories hurt, we keep them close, eh?" She blinked away the last of her true tears, no longer crying, but still a hidden sadness just barely hiding in her eyes and smile.

"Yeah.I threw this into the sea and the chickened out and swam and got it back. Its just to important to get rid of yet" she whispered
"Though memories are to important to get rid of.Even the bad ones because you learn from your mistakes"

Yukiko gave a pained laughed. "And what have we learned today, Yuki?" She stated in a manly tone, trying to immitate her father as best a possible. "Not to litter." And with that she burst into wild fits of giggles. Who knew sadness could induce such insane and bubbly laughter?

Mel laughed.Madness.The cure for pain.Unlike Bella,Mel found that doing dangerous stuff clouded the memories. "I miss him so much..." she muttered "Yes Yuki we shouldn't litter" she said wiggleing her finger.Trying to mask up what she said before

Yukiko had just barely managed to catch what Mel said before, but judging by the way she'd covered it up, she obviously hadn't wanted it to be heard. And Yuki, being understanding about addressing 'pained silence' decided to continue on with their insanity.
"Well I'm sure the environmentalists will be happy we've learned this message." She chuckled. "Though if this is what it takes to get through to litter-bugs..." She shook her head and smiled.
