Hotaru giggled softly. "It's okay, I'm alright for the moment. Thank you for the offer, though." she leaned over slightly. "And about not looking like I have a rep," she began. "It isn't wise to judge someone based on appearances. For example," she sat up again, still showing Cross her polite beam. "If I was still who I use to be, you'd more than likely be dead right about now, or at least on your way to the Emergency Room."
She sat and awaited to hear the girl's response patiently.

Cross raised her eyebrow and laughed. "Well then, I won't make that mistake again!" She laughed wondering what the girl used to be like but was glad she wasn't like that. She raised her hands up innocently. "I'll make sure I don't judge people any longer based on appearances!" She winked and sipped at her coke again.

Hotaru laughed at Cross's comment. "But not everyone is like that, fortunantly." she told her, moving around in her seat. She was ignoring the music as much as posible. She didn't want to be tempted to stand up and start dancing like the rest of the one around them. "Fate decided to take pitty on me and give me a second chance at life, thus the name Phoenix." she looked at Cross. "And I must say, my life has been... not perfect, but decent since I changed."
"So how about you?" she asked. "Fate brought any interesting obstacles in your life?"

Cross instantly thought of her life and shook her head. "No. Fate hasn't brought me anything good." she replied, her voice sounding dead.
She grinned as another song she knew came on and she started singing along. Then something shiny on the dance floor caught her interest. "I'll be right back..." She said, setting her drink down, standing up and weaving through the small dancing crowd. Bending down at the knees, she picked up the item and then returned back to her seat. Twirling the object with two fingers she grinned. "1960's dime!" she exclaimed.

Hotaru frowned slightly at Cross' words. It made her wonder what had happen in her life to make her say that.
She quickly returned to her smiling face as Cross got up to take something. At first, Hotaru thought it was just an ordinary dime, until she heard the year. "Wow," she said. "that's gotta be rare."

Cross smiled admiring the dime and nodded. "Sure is!" she smiled and flipped the dime over studying it. Little things like this she took notice of and liked to enjoy. "Think about it... This single dime has lived through over 1000 years of war and peace, success and failure..." she trailed off. "You get the point." she grinned and held it in one hand while taking a sip of her Coke.

Hotaru smiled. "Yeah, it's amazing." she agreed. "That must be one tough little guy."
She suddenly began to grow a little thirsty and asked for some water. She thanked the person who handed it to her, and took a few sips out of it before setting it back down. "I don't mean to be pushy, I'm just curious." Hotaru began. "But, what did you mean when you said that fate hasn't brought you anything good?" she began to wonder if asking was the wrong thing to do. She didn't want to get on Cross' bad side, after all.

Cross' face darkened. She really didn't like talking about it or even thinking about it... but with a sigh she started speaking. "I had a wonderful life with my father and older brother... My father was always working and we moved often. I can't remember what he did exactly but he got on people's bad sides quite often. Then one day my father got sick so I started to take care of him. Then when I was out getting medicine one day, I saw the abulences and police going towards my house. So I ran home and found my father dead." She stopped talking. She didn't even bring up her older brother... Although she loved her father, she wasn't too torn up about his death... it was Adrian's death that she mourned and hated to think about. She sighed again and pocketed the dime. "Sometime later I ended up here... In the middle of a war... Imagine that..." She grinned and took another drink of her coke.

True concern washed on Hotaru's face as she looked at Cross. "That's too bad, I'm really sorry." she paused for a moment. "To tell you the truth, the man I was in love with was killed right in front of me, because he was saving me." Maybe telling her this would help her out. It was sometimes easier to listen to people when they had gone through the same thing.
"I know what it's like to lose someone you care about, and I know it sucks. But you know," she began to smile a little more. "People come into your life later on. Not to replace, but to help the healing process. And again, I'm speaking from expirence." Maybe that would cheer her up.

Cross shrugged and smiled, putting back on her usual facade. "I'm good, don't worry." she winked and took another sip of her Coke. "Stupid addicting soft drinks." She muttered looking at her now empty glass.
She smiled as another song she knew came on. "Perfect song for depressing moments!" She exclaimed starting to sing along. "Don't worry, about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright!" She laughed. "3 little birds by Bob Marley!" She laughed singing more.

Hotaru couldn't help but laugh at the song Cross began to sing. "Yeah, something that silly could deffiently cheer a person up in a hurry." she took another sip of her water, then made a weird face at it. "I think something's been swimming in here..." she commented quietly.

Cross laughed. "That my dear is like that because it's water and we're at a club so there is no telling where they got it from!" she grinned. "That is why I stick with good ol' soda!" She exclaimed holding her glass in the air and taking a large drink. "Scrumptious!" She exclaimed slamming the now empty glass down on the bar.

Hotaru laughed as Cross spoke. "That's true, but water's a lot better for you." she sighed, knowing she couldn't resist the urge any longer with such a soda addict beside her. "Um, Dr. Pepper, please." she asked the man at the bar. When he came back with the soda, she once again thanked him and took a drink.
"Goodness, it's been forever since I had one of these." she said. "I've missed it!"

Cross laughed at the red head and winked. "Knew ya couldn't resist!" She then asked the bar tender for another Coke. "Soft Drinks are the epitome of all sugary goodness! You can only hold out for so long!" She laughed and took another drink of her newly replenished Coke.

Hotaru giggled. "Yeah, I suppose you're right." she continued to drink the rest of her Dr. Pepper until it was empty, then went back to finish her water. "But it's still good to have a decent amount of water in your body."
After a while she began to rub her head. "The music here is pretty loud." she laughed off. "But I guess that's what's to be expected at a club, after all." she looked around at the people dancing, mind running out of things to talk about.
