How ironic that such a large and majestic building could be full of boredom. Politics, as usual, were not interesting in the slightest. The only reason to come at all was to witness the sorting of the kids into their clans, and even that was dull more than half the time.
Maybe that's why Mero had come. That was certainly an interesting theory, boredom attracting the bored. As if nature had it out for those who simply could not find a decent source of entertainment...
Blinking a few times, he stopped looking up at the building and walked calmly over to a bench beneath a tree. Sitting down, he now gazed up into the branches, the expression on his face showing interest in the birds that hid among them. In reality this was far from true, at the current moment he was more likely to knock down a nest of chicks then study the things, just out of sheer boredom. But no, he had to keep up appearances, look polite and sweet as if he were the most wonderful person in the world.
Who knew, maybe someone would come walking down towards the Hall that might be materiel. After all, it had been his original purpose to "choose" someone today, so why not?

Jack just happened to be perched in that tree. Napping actually. He had been out quite late last night and was exhausted because of it. Though it appeared that there was some internal ruckus from the chaos of his adventure into City Hall.
Why was it that he had been drawn to this place was beyond him. He had tried his hardest to leave the government, was there anything still binding him to this place?
He opened his eyes and looked at the sky. Boy, it sure was a nice day today, maybe-
His thoughts were cut short as his MP3 player fell out of his pocket. He gasped and lunged for it, grabbing it and snagging a lower branch with his feet so he wouldn't fall farther. He let out a sigh and opened his eyes to peer into the face of a stranger.
"Uh... hi!" He said with a grin.

Wait a minute - that wasn't a bird, that was a person. Asleep, it seemed... And now awake. Mero had all intentions of staying unnoticed by him, until the inevitable happened and said person dropped his MP3. The desperate lunge was a little amusing, though fortunately the person managed to miss Mero.
And in that process, of course, they noticed him. It looked like entertainment and possibly a new recruit had been found. And now for the charade.
"And hello to you, too," Mero said, chuckling a little. "I didn't see you up there at first, do you need any help getting down all the way?"

Jack shook his head, stowing the MP3 back in it's proper place. "Nah, I got it." He reached up and grabbed the branch, letting go with his legs and the relinquished his final hold to drop down onto the bench. Finely done, he congratulated himself. If only he had stuck the landing, it would have been Olympics worthy. Too bad he was a pianist and not a gymnast, oh well.
He held out his hand. "Well, my name's Jack, Jack King. And you are?" He was meeting a new person every day it seemed, and this one appeared to be from Kuma. Fun. He wondered what he was like. With any luck he would find out soon enough.

"Mero Valyn," he replied with a smile, shaking Jack's hand. After watching the little set of gymnastics, Mero had come to a conclusion. Jack was chosen. For now all that meant was Mero would continue to talk and learn more about him, and then later, at night... Well, then Jack would see more of Mero's true persona.
"So what where you doing in that tree, anyways?" Mero asked, gesturing up into the tree. "Seems like a rather odd place to take a nap."

"Yeah, well," The Ookami stretched and let out a yawn. "You're not the one that was up half the night. Aside from that, I can nap virtually anywhere." He looked up through the boughs of the oak. "It's a nice day today." Jack said, getting mildly off topic. Oh well, no harm there.
He cast a gaze at the cop patrolling the outside of the city hall and chuckled knowingly. He had caused quite a ruckus. They must have been keeping it all very quiet, no point in giving hints of weakness.
