Kage laughed lightly as the familiar line of spikes speared the face-down card. From it burst the wide-winged form of Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle.
"You're wrong, Caitlyn..." he replied. "Your Fortune Lady Dark can only allow you to Special Summon a Fortune Lady if the destroyed monster is sent to the Graveyard, and my Eagle is going to the fourth spot in my Spell and Trap Card Zone instead!" The bird became a flashing indigo gem and moved backward. "Anything else? This is quite fun."

Caitlyn sighed. "True," she acknowledged. "Of course, Earth's effect will finish you on my next turn," she pointed out. "I'll just throw down a facedown and then it's your move, Kage."

Kage drew his card, looked at his hand, and hung his head. His left hand trembled slightly, and he looked like he might have been about to collapse.
"It's..." he murmured. "It's..." The young man looked up at Caitlyn, showing off of huge grin. "Not over yet! You see, you've been destroying my Crystal Beasts left and right, and now you're going to see why I let you do it!" Kage selected a card in his hand and slipped it into the Duel Disk. "I activate Crystal Abundance!" The four gems on his side of the field disappeared in a flash of white light. "By sending four Crystal Beasts in my Spell and Trap Card Zone to the Graveyard, I can do the same to every other card on the field. Say good-bye to your two lovely ladies, as well as your face-down!"
I just hope that face-down won't get in the way... thought the dark-haired Duelist.

Caitlyn smirked. "I don't think so. See, I was almost expecting your Crystal Abundance, and I was lucky enough to draw a backup plan. Actually, I'm almost glad you destroyed my Earthbound Immortal. Otherwise, this wouldn't work. Go, Bending Destiny!" Her facedown flipped up. "This powerful Trap card negates your Crystal Abundance and removes it from play!" She smirked slighlty. "Of course, you get it back on your next turn, but unless you have a second one, I don't think you'll have a next turn."

(OOC: Daaawwww, *bleeeeeeeeeeep*!)
Kage grimaced as he moved the Spell Card to the compartment for cards that are removed from play.
"Fine, then!" he called. "I activate Crystal Blessing to bring my Sapphire Pegasus and Topaz Tiger to the Spell and Trap Card Zone. Then, I'll place a card face-down and end my turn..."

[OOC: And that's why I run three xD]
Caitlyn shrugged. "And with my Standby Phase, my two Ladies level up...and Earth's effect kicks in, burning you for one hundred more points of damage than you have Life Points." She said.

Kage sighed as his Life Point display reached zero. He returned all of the cards to his Deck and put the collective into his pocket. A smile flashed over his face, but there were undertones of a tired knowing as well.
"That was a great game," he said warmly. "I really liked seeing the Fortune Ladies in action, and taking on an Earthbound Immortal was second to none. Maybe I'll... see ya around?" A hopeful glint could be seen in the young man's eyes, a sign that Kage would've hoped Caitlyn wouldn't see.
I guess if I don't, I'll just go on alone... he thought with a barely audible sigh. Not like I'm not used to it by now.

[OOC: Great duel ^^]
Caitlyn smiled, returning her own cards. Her fingers hovered for a moment over her Earthbound Immortal, but then she shrugged and put it back. She gave him a smile.
"Heh, I've always loved the Crystal Beasts, so it was nice to face them." She said, walking over to him and offering her hand. "And I would love to...see you around." She smiled slighlty. She caught the slight glint in his eyes, and sighed a little herself.

(OOC: I know, right? ) Kage took her hand to complete the gesture of good sportsmanship. His ears barely picked up on her sigh, and he couldn't help noting that maybe Caitlyn was looking for someone whom she could call "friend" as well. Such a talented Duelist could hardly be pegged as someone with no friends, however, and all the young man could do was hope that he might one of the sure dozens who already spent time with her. "Maybe we could meet here again sometime," he suggested. "Or perhaps at the Mystik Wok? Maybe you could give me some pointers."

Caitlyn squeezed his hand as they shook. She liked him, rather much. "You're a nice guy," she said, laughing softly. She took her hand out from his. She laughed at his suggestion. "I would love to meet up, but only as friends," she said. She felt the need to set that boundary, since she had waay too much romantic drama to want to even have the possibility of adding to it.

Kage smiled at her, a knowing expression that actually puzzled him for some reason. Since when does a person who spends all of their time alone know how it feels to need to tack on boundaries. The Duelist mentally chalked it up to his comprehension of human nature and retracted his own hand.
"Hey, everyone needs more friends," replied Kage. "Especially those who have virtually none." He grinned at her. "It was really nice Dueling with you. At the risk of sounding weird, I..." The young man hesitated at this point, fiddling with a strand of his long brown hair as he arranged the words in his head. "I, uh... can't wait to see you again."

Caitlyn grinned. "Of course," she said. He seemed a bit odd, but she had always liked odd. She was also very curious about him. She giggled as he qualified his next statement. Now that she was sure he wasn't flirting with her or anything, she knew not to take that too seriously. "I understand. Maybe we could get lunch or something?" She asked, reaching up to brush her hair away from her face.

"Sounds good to me," replied Kage. "Cash is of short supply for me, but I'll definitely be able to reimberse, given the proper time. Just name the when and the where." He paused for a moment, wondering if he had maybe let too much of his peculiar nature show.
Hey, she's still talkin' to ya, isn't she? rang the voice of Joshua in his mind. The way I see it, she would've let you know that she was weirded out a long time ago. Deciding that his long-gone friends were, once again, the voices of ultimate reason, Kage decided to put in a last note before (he was sure) Caitlyn would have some other matter to attend to.
"Oh, and don't forget to bring some good ideas. I'm in short order of those, too."

Caitlyn shrugged. "Nah, I have a few reliable sources of income, so I won't feel bad covering." Sure, she would have to pick a few pockets, but she did that anyway, so it didn't really bother her all that much. If she hadn't liked him enough to take him out, she wouldn't be meeting him. "How about the Mystic Wok, tonight or tomorrow?" She asked. She laughed. "And I'll be glad to bring plenty of ideas," she said.

Kage smiled. "Tomorrow is good for me. Gives me a chance to reorganize some things and try to earn at least a little money, I suppose." In his head, the young man could almost hear Jeremiah applauding his bluff. All he owned was on him at that moment, and earning money had been difficult lately. Most people didn't seem to trust others enough to pay for odd jobs anymore, but Kage had never been the type to borrow. His father had taught him that borrowing led to begging. On top of that, to let a lady pay without at least an attempt to give back didn't sit well with Kage, even if said lady was only currently a friend.
