Jubei remained quiet during this argument, hands in his pockets. He couldn't really say anything, without a doubt, without angering either Caitlyn or Rex, so he did nothing. After Rex had walked away, he glanced back at Caitlyn, looking down slightly. "Well, that was certainly a downer. Are we still good on the date..?" He looked up at her, tilting his head slightly. Caitlyn sighed, turning back to Jubei as Rex walked away. "Yeah, I believe that would be generally referred to as 'killing the mood.'" She said dryly. Then, she took a deep breath and gave him a little smile. "If you want to be." Her smile dropped. "But if not...I'd still like to see you again, after tonight...and not as enemies."

He smiled, then winked. "Then there is somewhere I want to show you." He chuckled and took her arm once more, gently, and began walking, pulling her along. He looked down at her, smiling. "So tell me a little about yourself. Besides being in the Tora clan. How was life before the Tora Clan, and during?" He smiled and closed his eyes, just enjoying the sand under his feet and his arm around hers. [/blockquote]

Caitlyn smiled slighlty. "Alright," she said. She glanced down as he took her arm, and followed without much resistance. However, she was a bit slower than she might have normally been, since she was taking in the scenery and, of course, him. She shook her head when he asked to learn about her. "There really isn't all that much to say. My dad died when I was little, and my mom just...disappeared when I was ten. I lived on the streets for three years, surviving by thievery, until I was conscripted." A slighlty ironic smile crossed her face. "To be honest, at the time I saw being put in a clan as the best thing that could possibly happen to me. It meant guaranteed food and a warm bed, at least." She shrugged. "It's been three years since then...I have a few friends in my clan, but if people know me or know of me, it's usually because of my Tarot reading."

He smiled, tilting his head. "As I discovered in the restarauant." He chuckled and looked down at her. "Tough, isn't it? Living alone...the same thing happened to me. I never knew my father, and my mom disappeared when I was six...I kinda survived until I was thirteen, except I had the opposite opinion." He chuckled, looking out towards the ocean, pulling her slightly closer. "I thought I was doing just fine on my own, and tried to escape the conscription, biting and kicking...I'm sure the guards of that government have an irate hate for me even after all these years." He grinned and looked down at her, stopping for a moment to enjoy the waves under the moon. [/blockquote]

Caitlyn nodded absently, but turned back to Jubei as he began to tell his story. She was a little surprised to hear that he had a similar experience to her. Then again, maybe she shouldn't have been. How many young children had she seen running around on the street, making the same sort of living she was?
"Yeah," she said, her voice soft as he pulled her close. It was hard to want to think back to then. A smile crossed her face as he described his conscription, and she giggled. "You fought them?" She shook her head. "I don't think I've ever heard of anyone literally fighting conscription tooth and nail before," she said, very clearly entertained. When they stopped, she looked out at the sea, and sighed, resting her head against his chest.

He smiled and looked down at her as she rested against him, and then looked back out to see. "Beautiful." was all he said, raising a hand to stroke his fingers through her long hair lightly, his other hand on her hip, the arm around her waist. [/blockquote]

Caitlyn smiled slighlty as she felt his hand run through her hair. "It is, isn't it?" She asked. One of her hands rested on his on her hip, as she looked out over the beautiful view spread out before them. The smile on her face grew as she took in the amazing view.

He almost laughed. One of his favorite lines that he had never gotten to use, and she fell for it. Hook, line, and sinker. He turned her towards him slightly, looking down at her with a mischievous look in his eye. "I was talking about you..." He said softly, a slight smirk at the edges of his stupid grin. He leaned down slightly, pressing his lips against hers, though only barely, his yellow cat eyes wide open and staring into hers as he did so. [/blockquote]

Caitlyn blushed bright red. Usually, she wasn't the sort of girl who fell that easily for such an obvious line, but then again, she also wasn't the type to assume that every praising word spoke in her presence was directed at her. "Oh," she said softly. When he kissed her, she blushed even darker, but after a few second's hesitation she kissed him back, sighing a little as she did.

He smiled and closed his eyes, pulling her closer as he kissed her softly, arms wrapped around her waist. After a moment he pulled away, eyes still closed, breathless. "Wow.." He cleared his throat and pulled her closer slightly, looking out to the ocean again, at a loss of what to say other than that. He just had a boyish stupid grin on his face, his eyes slightly narrowed like a cat that was extremely content. If he was any more like a cat at the moment, he would start purring... [/blockquote]

As his eyes closed, Caitlyn's fluttered closed as well, and she leaned into the kiss as she felt him pull her close. When he pulled away, she rested her head back against his chest. "Wow," she agreed softly, looking up at him rather than out at the view. It had been a long time, Caitlyn realized, since she had been kissed so thouroughly and romantically.

After a few seconds of regaining himself, he chuckled and stroked under her chin, staring down at her. "Ready to see my special place on the beach?" He chuckled and pulled her along gently but quickly, running down the beach at a slightly faster pace. At one of the curves of the sand, there was a large rock wall that led to a cliff, and against that rock wall was a small fissure. He chuckled and stepped down into it, holding her by her waist and lifting her down into it with him, winking. "I found this place exploring one time. There is another cave, the one I told you to run to when Rex appeared...but this is my special one." He smiled and pulled her along through the small fissure until it widened dramatically into a large cave. Inside was a hill formed of large rocks that was easy to walk up, and another opening in another wall at the top. "You know, I've never shown anybody this place...but I trust you won't show anyone. It's kind of my escape hideout, if I ever get in trouble." He smiled and gave her a small peck on the cheek, then led her in. The walls of the inside of the smaller room were crystalline, shining at the small amount of moonlight that came in through a crack in the wall. In a large dip, there was a small spring, which bubbled up warm salt-water into a large pool that took up half the room, and on another rise, a small mattress with crumpled sheets, and an un-lit glass torch. A few books lay in a small pile, as well as an empty basket. "I haven't been here in a while, it's too cold to sleep here in the winter, for me at least." He smiled and blinked, coughing and kicking the sheets together. "And I'm not very tidy..." He turned and spread his arms, as if showing off the cave. "What do you think?" [/blockquote]

Caitlyn nodded eagerly at his suggestion. "I would love to," the girl said. She followed him, looking around as she did. Her curiosity was very much piqued by the idea of a "special place." When he led her to a small fissure in the rock wall on the edge of the beach, her eyebrows flitted up. She slid down as he pulled her. "Huh. I didn't even know there were any caves around here, much less more than one," she said as she followed him. "Of course I won't tell." She promised. "I'd probably get lost coming here, anyway. I'm amazing that way." She joked. She blushed a little as he kissed her, but when he led her through the opening, she gasped. The cave was so beautiful, it took her breath away. She slowly walked in, turning around and taking in the amazing sparkle of the crystalline walls. "Oh my..." She whispered. She turned around. "I don't mind messy," she commented offhand. Actually, the slighlty disordered bed made her more comfortable. It reminded her of her own space in the Tora barracks. She turned aorund and gave him a bright smile. "I love it," she said, and completely and utterly meant it.

He chuckled as she said she loved it, and he smiled. "Good. I'm glad you do..." He looked around, then rubbed the back of his head under his cap, shrugging. "There isn't much to do around here...I don't really have anything for two people, just books and the water, I guess. I've never had anyone here..." He gave a small shrug, giving a sideways smile. "So we can leave if you want to." He smiled and put his cap back on, tilting his head and waiting to hear what she wanted to do. "Go back out to the beach, or something. Or stay here..." He just shrugged again. [/blockquote]
