Keith stepped outside of his apartment holding nothing but cigarettes and a lighter. He had stopped smoking inside when Gabe was born, and judging from what little he had heard from Egil when he asked to stop by the Italian was gonna need a smoke if he was going to explain what he was PRETTY sure was going to be brought up.
After all, Luciano had showed up to his place the other night to announce that he was criminal royalty(that was still really weird to think about, but Satoru seemed happy at the news so that was something.) That visit had been required in a way, and with Luci's son living in the area Keith figured he would go visit Donato. It was why he'd had Toru give him a heads up, it was better than being completely off guard. Don certainly needed every bit of help when it came to his father, and it pissed Keith off knowing how much damage the man had done to his best friend's health.

Egil knew where Keith lived but it seemed likely that he was never really going to be over for a good reason, he only came over because of trouble. He didn't like that thought very much. "Keith," he greeted as the Tora came into view. Cigarettes already out, Egil knew this was going to be a heavy kind of talk from the get-go, but he hadn't had a talk with Keith that involved smokes at the ready.

Keith looked toward the source of the voice and nodded at the blond as he placed an unlit cigarette between his lips. He stuck the rest of them in his pocket while Egil got to a good enough conversation distance and leaned his back against the outside wall of his small excuse of a home.
"Alright, first thing's first." He started, figuring he'd wait to light his smoke for when Egil would respond. "Seizure or screaming?" Keith didn't know the details of what had happened, and while he already knew he'd end up explaining both(along with everything else) he was trying to figure out what the best way to go about it was. Unfortunately there was a hell of a lot to explain...

There was a lot that Egil needed explained, and he wasn't too sure where to start either, but the choice was helpful. "Seizure," he said decisively. He wanted to help Don, and he had a bad feeling talking it out right now wouldn't be good for the older Ookami. It was a little soon after everything that had happened.
Besides, while he'd gotten a bit of an explanation as to why, he needed to know more. He needed to know how to help, he had dealt with lots of physical trauma as a medic, but not nearly as much psychological trauma. He wasn't a psychiatrist, and neither was Keith, but he knew the Tora knew quite a lot. Both about Don, and about everything in general.

Keith frowned as he lit his cigarette. Fuck, that wasn't good. Granted neither options were good but the seizures were the worst between the two for Donato. He blew out smoke and sighed before he spoke. "Okay, one thing you've gotta know is that Don's got a shit ton of issues that can be hard to spot until the breaking point if you don't know what to look for." Hell, he wasn't even sure if Don was aware of some of them, a lot of it was just stuff Keith had picked up on after years of knowing the guy. "Though, explaining it all's gonna involve giving you a history lesson on him and his family." Oh boy, this was gonna suck, but Egil needed to know everything if he was going to continue being part of Don's life.
"So Don grew up an only child, and his dad Luciano, who I fondly call Lucifer, was determined that his son was going to be a 'real' man." The Tora made sure to use air quotes for that. "And I'm sure you know 'real' men don't cry because it's weak and they need to keep that shit bottled up." That statement held nothing but sarcasm and even some frustration. He stopped to breathe in his smoke again. "He told me once that he hadn't cried a single tear since he was about nine or so, that bastard dad of his literally beat it out of him.
"Now it's practically ingrained in him to bottle up anything relating to that. I don't even think he does it on purpose anymore, it's just natural for him now. So it all piles up, and depending on the circumstances it'll normally come out through seizures. Sometimes he'll go into a raging fit, but I've also seen him just start this violent screaming until he loses his voice." Keith closed his eyes and frowned again at that. "I can't be sure, but I think that only happens when he really wants to cry..." He hated that thought, actually he hated all of this. Donato had stuck by Keith and saved his sorry ass more times than he could count, he didn't deserve any of this.

Egil felt a cold weight in his gut growing more and more as he listened. He'd known Luciano had been a terrible father, the tense exchange they'd had while Egil had tried to get him to leave their house had been proof enough of that, but he hadn't known how far back it'd gone. Don had only given the briefest of overviews... "Are there any warning signs?" He asked. He needed to know the symptoms of it all building up, he needed to know what to watch out for, and how to help calm Don down...

Keith thought for a moment before speaking. "Like I said, it's hard to tell most of the time..." There was one thing he'd noticed over the years though. "Try paying attention to how long he works out. He's normally good about knowing when he needs to stop, but he can go overboard with it when there's something specific eating at him." And that definitely wasn't good for him.
"Another big issue is his ADHD," Keith wasn't sure if Egil knew Don had been properly diagnosed with it, but there it was anyway. "The ADHD itself isn't really the problem, but people with it are more likely to have other disorders like anxiety or depression." He sighed. "Of course, with Don not properly expressing that stuff it just makes the cycle worse on him. Honestly the best advice I can give ya is to watch how he reacts in situations that might trigger those." It could be as little as a minor screw up at work or forgetting an important date, but when it came to actual warning signs there wasn't much there for him to tell the blond. At least he was aware now, it made things at least a little easier to spot.
