Julie shrugged a little. "Well I've been talking to Keith about that, he said he wouldn't mind training me to be the shop's piercer. His current one's been his tattooing apprentice for a while and now that he's starting to get more heavily in with tattoos they're gonna need another piercer to be more full time." It wasn't a fabulous sounding job, she was aware of that, but it was something she was interested in.
The waiter came by with their drinks and walked off once again. Julietta took a sip of her tea and laughed quietly. "But engineering sounds way fancier." More socially accepted, that stuff. She probably sounded like an idiot with no future, talking to someone that was in college for something better off in the end money wise...

Mina gave a shrug. "If you like doing it, do it, life's too short to worry about the people who criticize others. Grab life by the balls, y'know?" She said, laughing into her water. "I mean in the end, you'll be happier than if you forced yourself through college and into a career you didn't even like." And with Keith's shop being the only real tattoo and piercing place in the city, it wasn't like the Tora couldn't make money.

Julie giggled and nodded a little, okay Mina didn't think any different about her. She didn't know why she was so worried about that, but she was. "Yep, and I don't really see myself doing much else to be honest." She scratched her head again at that, she didn't really have any outstanding talents that could get her a good job. Best to take what she could get for now, and she already had a feeling she would enjoy it a lot.
"So how long have you been in college anyway?" It was a reasonable question she thought. Julie was taking a guess that it wasn't the other Tora's first semester, and she was honestly curious.

Mina smiled and scratched her cheek a little awkwardly. "A while, it's expensive, and I'm juggling that with working for Satoru... He's been pretty flexible but I'm having to take things slower than I'd like so I can just pay for it all in time." She didn't want to be in debt to the college, she refused. She was going to pay for her classes upfront, or as upfront as she could manage... But it did mean she'd be taking a while to complete her degree.
But that was alright, really, it just meant she'd get it a little later than most. She didn't mind that.

Julie smiled. "Well there's nothin' wrong with that, better than having all this debt when you finish." She thought it was a pretty good idea really. You go into college so you can make more money when you get out, not so you'll have to pay them back so much. There wouldn't really be a point in college if that were the case huh? "So how long do you think it's gonna be for you to get your degree?"

"Another coupla years for a masters, at the very least." She said, blowing bubbles into her drink with her straw. "Gotta get a masters to be taken seriously..." And for her, that was going to be a necessity. It wasn't like she wanted to be stuck with doing even MORE schoolwork before being able to do what she wished... But was budgeting as well as she could and she doubted it'd be able to go much faster without taking out loans.

"Oh, you can do it." Julie told her with a grin. "And I bet you'll be the best damn engineer in town!" She giggled a took another drink of her tea. Whether it took a while or not, at least Mina had a PLAN, she knew what she wanted to do. That was certainly something, the younger woman thought, not many people their age were completely set on what they wanted to do(herself included).

Mina smiled around her straw. "Aww... Thanks Julie..." She mumbled, blushing a bit. "So, mm... What do you like to do in your free time? Any hobbies?" She thankfully let the straw drop from her mouth for this. Wouldn't have been very polite otherwise, now would she have been?

Julie shrugged a little and blushed. "Not, uh, not much really. I draw a little bit, but it's not that good…" Keith was MUCH better, she didn't know why she kept at it honestly. Sure it was fun, and sometimes they came out good, but overall it wasn't really something to brag about in her case.

Mina grinned wider. "No shit, really? You've gotta show me sometime I don't care how bad you think you are." She really wanted to see now. You didn't just mention art without her butting her head in to ask to see it. Mina was terrible at it, but that might have lent itself to her fascination with the people who WERE actually good at it.

Julie's blush darkened and she gave a small laugh. "I-I guess, just don't expect anything amazing, I'm not like my brother." For some reason she always felt the need to stress that. It was pretty obvious from the start, but she just… Well she always had a habit of comparing herself to him growing up. Pathetic really, but she couldn't help it.

Mina let out a 'pft' of air. "I don't care how good your brother is. Just cuz he draws one way and maybe you draw differently doesn't make him any better." Besides, Keith had to be good to do what he did, and he'd probably been taught a good deal more about how to do it than Julie. Didn't mean Mina was any less eager to see the girl's work.

Julie bit her lip, she… she guessed Mina had a point. "Well, okay then." She finally said, smiling a little more. "I'll let'cha look at them some time." As long as she promised not to laugh, but she'd keep from saying that until she actually had her sketchbook out and ready to present.

Mina flashed a couple of thumbs-ups at Julie. "Great! Lookin' forward to it." And then, as if sensing the hunger in the two young women, the server returned with a tray full of their food. Oooh good lord that smelled delicious!

Julie laughed and smiled at the thumbs up, looking up at the server as their food was sat in front of them. Julie relaxed more as she took in the smell. Yep, yep this was going to taste amazing, she didn't have a doubt in her mind now. The server left and she took her fork and knife and dug in. At the first bite she smiled and nearly let her head fall back. Definitely delicious. "Oh yeah, I like this place A LOT." She giggled.
