"Well," Satoru said after a moment, because was there really any good way to phrase homicide? "They all got slaughtered." There, out in the open. "Had anyone survived- Takanabi or Ryota or anyone, I probably would have stayed, even with my leg. But I only got out because they figured I was dead like the others." The damage had been extensive, he couldn't have blamed them for the mistake, but really you shoot the bodies to be safe. Sloppy. Not to say he wasn't grateful they had been sloppy, but still, if you do a job you do it right.

Oh, well… that made sense too, he guessed. "Sorry about that." He mumbled, not really knowing what else you could say to something like that. Gabe decided it would probably be for the best not to dwell on the topic, so he changed it before Satoru responded. "Guess that kinda explains the whole gunslinger thing." Because honestly, it made sense now why the guy was such a good shot. He'd always use to wonder who taught 'Toru, looking back he was kinda glad he never brought it up in the past.

"Ryota Yamamoto taught me," he replied. "And he was a tough teacher," much tougher than Satoru was on Gabe. It wasn't like he was a tougher teacher than Ryota, the man had been downright brutal. He had gone softer on Gabe than Ryota had on him, but it had still pushed the kid away from the range.

Gabe gave a small smile. "Well, least it wasn't for nothing, you being as good as you are." …That wasn't a compliment, he was just stating fact. Everyone and their dog knew Satoru was the best shot in town. He didn't know about the rest of the world, but he'd be willing to bet money that the shorter man was still pretty good.

Satoru snorted. "He was an even better shot than me, I'm still trying to catch up." He'd have been neck and neck with Ryota by this point, probably, but... Well, childhood awe was a powerful force on his memory, it was for everyone. And even though he was likely just as good... He was certain Ryota still would have found faults with his shots. He always had. He understood why the elder had been so hard on him, a missed shot could mean life or death, but it had left him a harsh critic on his own shots.

"Well still," Gabe said, eyes shifting to different spots in the kitchen, it'd of been a little weird otherwise. "I can kinda see why you were hard on me with that stuff." It was just what he was use to. Could he get mad at that? No, not really.

He was quiet for a minute. "Shouldn't 've been," he replied with a sigh, moving forward to sit into a chair at the table. His leg was starting to ache and he'd rather not collapse in the middle of the kitchen with Gabe around. "You weren't in a life or death situation every day, you haven't been really ever since I got to first see you." He rubbed the back of his neck. "So that's my mistake, and I'm sorry for it."

Gabe nodded a little, more to himself. "Alright, apology accepted." All that was in the past, and it wasn't like it had really scared him growing up(at least not that he knew of), though it was probably a contributor to his behavior around Satoru the passed few years. Speaking of which...
The blond scratched his head."...And I guess I should say sorry too." He sighed, might as well suck it up and act like a man, if Satoru was going to apologize then it was only right that he should too. "I've been a brat, and I don't really have an excuse for it but…" He threw his arms up before letting them drop back to his sides. "Yeah, it was stupid and uncalled for, I should have been more grateful."

Satoru snickered. "Yeah, you shoulda been," he shrugged. "But I coulda been less of an asshole, I dunno." It was in the past, nothing he could do to really change it now. Nothing either of them could do to change it. "No sense in crying over it like a couple of pussies." He mused, hand holding onto his knee as the pain started flaring. When it hit it hit hard these days. Probably had to do with him getting older, less resilient...

Gabe grinned. "Yeah, got a point." So what was done was done, that was a lot easier than he thought it would have been. He looked over at Satoru as he grabbed his knee and frowned, his leg was acting up again. "Anything I can do? I can grab you something if you need." He honestly couldn't even remember what Satoru would normally do when this happened, if he did anything at all.

Satoru shook his head. "It'll pass, it'll hurt like hell but it'll pass." Aside from that... well, Gabe had never seen him fighting pills before because he never took them. It didn't matter if he was actually sick the Tora would rather be miserable than swallow pills. It was an old habit, not trusting drugs or pills.

Gabe paused. Well… if he said so. The blond still felt like he should do something. He looked back where Satoru had started making his sandwich and hadn't finished due to their conversation. Everything was out, so he might as well. He turned his body to start finishing up with making his stepdad's food, walking over to the table and sitting it next to him for when he felt like he could eat. It might not have helped directly, but it was something. He turned back around and started putting up what was left of the food, figuring there wasn't really anything worth saying for the moment.

Satoru glanced at the sandwich. He couldn't really eat now, pain really killed the appetite, but he appreciated the gesture. "Thanks," he said, reluctantly breaking the quiet that had fallen over the room. It was better than what Keith did when first confronted with the leg-pain, Toru hated being carried around.

Gabe shrugged. "No problem." He didn't expect him to eat it right then, but the guy needed to eat at some point, and the sandwich had already been partly made, might as well have finished it for him. The Kuma took one of the other seats at the table, setting his elbow on the table and holding his head in his hand to prop it up. So what now? Should he just walk out, or would that be rude? He didn't think Satoru would be in the mood to talk considering he was hurting, so...

"C'mon Gabe, where'd that conversation go?" Satoru asked after a moment, forcing a grin. The pain was, well, painful, but he wanted a distraction and Gabe was kind of his only option at the moment. So talking. "Get any farther with Fei? Have you actually gotten a date yet?" He half-teased and half asked with legitimate curiosity.
