Emma realized that she hadn't spent much time with her mom lately. She always saw daddy since he was a teacher at the school, but unless she visited home it wasn't that often that her and her mother had some time together. That said, she was taking some free time to take a walk with her today.
Hotaru was very happy to say the least. Her pregnant belly was just starting to show and after a few more months it would be hard to walk around like this on her own(though it WOULD be easier from her last time, chances were pretty low at having another set of twins).
The two were chatting like normal, the usual 'How is school' question followed by stories and jokes and such. They were having a great time actually, not even noticing what figure was nearby.

The sun was going down as Archer walked to work, flipping his lighter in his hand as he walked. He had his bag thrown over one shoulder which held several tools of his trade. He had a small grin on his face as he imagined the job he had ahead of him. The target was an easy one, he'd mapped her place out weeks ago, had been keeping tabs on her schedule, and had learned everything there was to know about her. He was excited for this one because his employer had told him to go all out. He wanted the woman to suffer. Why? Archer didn't know or care. He was fine with torturing without the information that made his employer want it.
He turned the corner and stopped as his eyes took in the sight before him, not even ten feet away was a very familiar figure with a girl. Hotaru. His grin widened exponentially as he continued walking until he was but a couple of feet away, they were too engrossed in their conversation, laughter flowed from their lips like a river.
His eyes were drawn to her stomach, she was pregnant again, almost to full term too. He immediately assumed, based on the child's looks, that the girl with her was her daughter Emma, the one Daemon was pinning over. He could see why. She seemed innocent, much like her mother had been when Archer broke her spirit all those years ago.
"Well, well, well, just what do we have here?" he said, flipping the lighter open and closed as he came to a stop before the two.

The two stopped their conversation to look at where the voice had come from. Emma looked at the man, tilting her head to the side in a confused manner. She was just about to ask her mother who he was before the redhead stepped in front of her.
Hotaru could never forget that face, as much as she wanted to she just couldn't. She had recognized Archer immediately and didn't hesitate to stand between him and her daughter. Even with living in a city as big as Hatsu Itonami it was only a matter of time before she would have run into him again, but why did it have to be NOW?
"Emma." she began, being careful with how she spoke. She refused to sound weak in front of him, he'd enjoy that way too much. "Run home. Now." She kept her voice firm as she kept her glare on Archer, although her legs wouldn't quit trembling the way they were.
The brunette girl looked back and forth between the adults. Mom looked so scared, and at the same time she could see how much she hated this man. There was only one person she could think of that could get this reaction from her mother and her eyes widen at the realization. "You're Daemon's father." she nearly gasped.

Archer looked Hotaru up and down slowly with his grin ever present. "Yes I am. She's a smart one Hotaru. I can see why my son is smitten with her." he said as he started to circle them slowly, still flipping the lighter open and closed.
"You have no idea how much of a delight this is. I've heard SO much about you Emma," Not from Daemon, from Artemis. Daemon was close lipped and he hadn't even seen his son since he'd walked out weeks ago. "I feel as if I already know you. But of course, not as well as I know your mother." He said, shifting the attention back to Hotaru. "Your mother and I go way back, I'm sure she's told you."
The sun was steadily descending as Archer circled the two like a predator would with its prey. In Archer's eyes, they kinda were like prey.

Emma was about to speak before being cut off. "Don't you DARE talk to her!" Hotaru hissed before grabbing her daughter's arm and taking a step back. "Emma I said go home!"
The teen looked at her mom for a moment. She couldn't leave her mom behind with this monster. She'd never seen her like this before, and it definitely didn't help that she was pregnant. Emma shook her head quickly. "No way, Mom, I'm not leaving you here by yourself." She turned back to Mr. Speirs, trying to use a glare that really didn't suit her. "Yes, I know who you are, and I also know that you're a monster who treated your son like trash!" The situation with her mother was something that was out of her control as much as she hated to admit it, but Daemon had been hurt by his own FATHER right here and now and she couldn't help but say something about it!

Archer paused in his circling and laughed deep and fully. "My, oh my, this one certainly has some fire in her doesn't she?" He said to Hotaru after he stopped laughing. He dropped the teasing lull and stared at Emma, his tone was icy. "But you should know better than to talk to your elders like that." He wagged a finger at her and clicked his tongue then resumed his circling.
He turned his attention back to Hotaru. "Does your daughter know the extent of her accusations? Does she know how much of a monster I am? Not that I'm calling myself a monster, I'm just a man living his life to the fullest." He paused in his speaking and then continued. "Does she know what all I did to you? What this," he flipped the lighter open. "Pushed you into? I'm sure you don't remember some of the details of that time we were together, but enough time has passed that I'm sure the gaps have filled in." He looked down at the flickering flame in his hand then closed the lighter with a slight jerk of the hand. He turned his piercing gaze back to Hotaru.

Hotaru's eyes stayed locked on Archer. She remembered what happened, most of it anyway. Jack had found out through Archer's wife and told her about it just a few weeks ago. He flicked the lighter open and hey eyes grew wide for a short moment before screwing them shut, grabbing at her hair as memories started leaking through her head. No no no, she couldn't lose control, not in front of Emma and certainly not in front of Archer.
"N-no." the redhead spat out as she brought her hand down, now resting on her stomach protectively. "She doesn't know the details." She didn't NEED to know, neither did Tyler. She didn't WANT them to know either, she didn't want them knowing how broken and unstable this man had made her. She didn't want them knowing what he had turned her into.
Emma turned her eyes back to her mom, worry growing more and more. She wanted to pull out her phone, get Daddy or Tyler or Daemon or SOMEONE here to help. Her hand slowly went to the pocket of her skirt where her phone rested in, unsure if pulling it out would be a good move or not with him standing right in front of them.

Archer's grin spread as Hotaru started to pull at her hair. "Well that's a damn shame, don't you think? I think Emma has a right to know all about her mother's past. He looked away from Hotaru and stared at Emma with his grin ever present. "Emma did you realize just how badly your mother is afraid of fire?"
He flipped his lighter open again as he circled. The flame flickered high, it was a good lighter. "I started with that. I kept her tied down in this very efficient dungeon I'd crafted. I set the stone on fire and watched as it slowly got closer and closer while she quickly withdrew into herself. It was a beautiful sight." He smiled wistfully at the thought. "Your mother was lucky though. Had I wanted to hurt her, I would have, but I didn't did I dear?" he asked, throwing out the dear to taunt her.
Archer caught the movement of Emma and quickly whipped out his knife. "Nah, uh, uh, keep your hands out of your pockets Sweet Little Emma, you don't want to lose one of those precious piano playing fingers no do you?"

Hotaru started shake more, with every word he said more and more memories were flooding through and it was getting so HARD to hold it all in! She cringed at the the little name he had once used for her, and it wasn't long before she started mumbling quietly to herself with her arms wrapped around her.
Emma jerked her hand away from her pocket once the knife was pulled out, not wanting to risk anything because she KNEW there was no way on earth she could fight the man off. She turned her attention back to her mother, feeling her eyes start to water at what she was seeing. The young girl put an arm around her mother and looked back at Archer. "Leave her alone!" she begged. "You've hurt her enough already!! What else do you want?!" She was terrified and she didn't know what to do.

Archer's eyebrows rose as Emma yelled at him. "You are a fiery one aren't you? Tell me, what's it like seeing your mother in this state? When I had her she was much worse. At one point she went as far as to cut her own hair off because she couldn't stand the sight of the color, it reminded her of my favorite toy, didn't it darling?"
He flipped the knife closed and stuck it back in his pocket. He knew he wouldn't need it. It was more for intimidation purposes. "Your mother actually enjoyed herself while she was with me though, I think that's one thing that kills her the most. The fact that she had forgotten everything and enjoyed things before she descended into this." he gestured to Hotaru's shaking form.
"Does she still have nightmares? I'd think she would, especially since she's already cracked so easily right now." He said, laughing lightly as he flicked the lighter open and close again.

Emma was normally patient. She was normally tolerant and use to ignoring cruel and hateful people because she knew she was better than that. But Mr. Speirs was testing her nerves at that moment, after all the pain and suffering he'd brought on her family and for Daemon.
"She's PREGNANT you moron!!" she yelled angrily. "She's fragile to ANYTHING right not and you think it's funny?!" There were a few tears that fell from her face as she tried to look at brave as she could. "You're a monster and Daemon was right to get away from you! He's more of a man than you ever could hope to be!"

Archer grinned in reply. "I think it's hilarious. It's absolutely wonderful actually. And say what you like, I don't care. Just keep in mind that Daemon isn't innocent. I might be a monster, but he was the monster's apprentice at one point."
He looked back at Hotaru. "I think Hana and Puff would like to see you like this. Then again, they'd be mad you broke, and I really don't think they'd approve of your present condition." He said, gesturing to her rounded belly. "But alas, they're not here, so I get to have all the fun."
The street lights started to come on as the sun disappeared over the roofs of homes. "Darkness, perfect time for a fire." he teased, taunting Hotaru with the lighter.

Hotaru couldn't find it in her to form an actual sentence, let alone move. It was taking all of her not to SCREAM or do something that would scare her daughter even more. She wanted to protect her little girl, but how could she when she couldn't even protect herself?!
Emma looked at her mother again and back at Archer. "I know he's not perfect, but that's just because you treated him like some puppet! You MADE him do all that stuff, just like you MADE my mom like this! Why don't you pick on someone ELSE and leave them ALONE?!" Before she could stop herself she had raised a hand to slap him, something a clear minded Emma would know better than to do. She couldn't help it though, what else could she do?!

Archer was quick to intercept the slap. He grabbed her wrist and yanked her towards him. "Weren't you taught not to hit people?" He asked as he pulled the girl in and turned her around to see her mother. "Now, what shall I do to punish you? Should I break your wrist, that would be very easy." he tightened his hold to show her. "Or should I acquaint you with one of my many toys? I have a bag full of them tonight."
He looked up at Hotaru and raised an eyebrow. "What shall I do Hotaru? Your daughter doesn't have any manners it seems. Someone needs to teach her some before that gets out of hand, don't you think?"

There was a quick shriek that slipped from Emma's lips as he grabbed her wrist. She winced at the pain in her wrist as more tears escaped her eyes. This couldn't be happening, it was all just a bad dream, a nightmare! She wanted to wake up!
Hotaru's attention was brought back to the situation and she couldn't help the animalistic expression that appeared. "LET GO OF HER!!" she roared. Had she of completely lost her head she would have lunged at him, but she had another child to protect that was just as, if not more venerable at the moment. She needed Jack, she needed him to come and make everything better and she wanted to hold her kids tight and never let them go. WHY WAS HE DOING THIS TO HER?!
