Parker walked through the halls while lugging around a couple of over sized bags. He couldn't help but smile, today was going great! Granted, his shoulders and arms were killing him from carrying around his things and he was pretty sure he was lost, but still! He was gonna get to live with the other kids and go to the same school as them, and everything was gonna be knew! He already had a couple of cousins that lived here, but he hadn't seen any of them yet.
Oh well, they'd show up eventually. Now, where was that stupid room...

Sora was bouncing as he lugged his bags towards where he had been told his room was. The start of a new year. There'd be new people, new experiences, new friends... New new new! he was going to have a blast, he knew it!
And it would all start when he saw whoever his roommate was going to be... he dropped his bags by the door and decided to stretch before going in. His papa stuffed those bags to the BRIM he was so worried about Sora having everything. He loved his papa, he really did, but sometimes he wished he could have been more like his dad, who realized that he'd screw up but not BADLY.
Oh well.
He let out a sigh and looked around to see if his roomie would be arriving soon, the lady who had told him the room number had mentioned that he was the second person, but the door hadn't even lost the 'welcome' tag on the handle. Maybe the other guy had gotten lost... Or eaten by bears...

Parker wondered the halls a little longer before sighing and throwing his stuff on the floor. He glanced back down at the paper with his room number on it, where the hell could it be? He ran his hand through his hair, turning his head to the side when he spotted a boy that looked just a little younger than him. He smiled and picked up his bags again and started over to him, maybe he could help?
"Hello!" He greeted the boy when he was in good talking distance. "I was wondering if you could help me find my..." he trailed off when he saw the room number on the door, it was the same one he had been looking for. "Oh... here it is." He looked back at the boy, a blush creeping on his face out of embarrassment.

Sora grinned, the guy looked flustered but he didn't seem like a bad guy. If he was that polite then his folks probably raised him right. Sora was certain he had struck roomie gold. The blond stuck out his hand. "Sora!" He chirped brightly. "That's my name, who're you?" to be fair, introductions COULD wait until they were inside, but this felt more... genuine. Besides, Sora wanted to know the slightly older guy's name.

Parker gave Sora a good, strong handshake in turn and smiled politely, it was one of the many habits that stuck with him by his family that he was rather grateful for. People liked it when he was like this, hopefully Sora would too, he seemed nice enough. "I'm Parker Heritage, pleasure to meet you Sora."
With that he looked back to the door. "Now, why don't we go inside and unpack?" They could talk and get to know each other a little more once they got comfortable with their new room.

Sora laughed a little at Parker's formality, wasn't that new and refreshing after Fei Yen and dad's personalities. Even Papa wasn't so formal. "Sure thing," he answered as he hefted his bags back up and opened the door.
The room was average size for the clans, going off what Fei-Yen had told him from her time in the dorms at least. Two beds, one pressed up against either wall, gave the room a sense of division. There were two dressers and small desks, as well as one closet. There was also one window, the pair had lucked out and gotten one of the rooms on the outer wall of the dorms. Perfect!
Sora dumped his stuff on the bed to the left and spun around to take it all in. "This is GREAT!" he cheered, arms flung out in joy.

Parker looked around at the room, blinking a few times in disbelief. This room was... small. It was smaller than what he was use to, and yet it was made for TWO people to share? Well, he was warned it would be different living in the dorms, he wasn't sure what he was expecting in the first place.
He sat his bags on the bed he assumed would be his and looked around again, laughing lightly as he scratched his cheek. "This is... definitely something alright." He wasn't sure if 'great' was the right word, but then again it wasn't bad either. He would get use to it, but it might take awhile...

It was smaller than Sora was used to too, but it... it FELT so much different. It was away from home, and for that Sora had to love it. Not like home wasn't great in its own way, but this was a step towards glorious independence. The smaller of the pair grinned and looked to Parker, not missing the... omission of sorts. "Oh c'mon, it's the FEEL of the place that's important. We're away from parents and away from home and siblings and stuff! We can do whatever we want, plus there's company."
Sora could think of a few scenarios having a roomie might not be ideal, but if he really needed a room to himself there was a bathroom for every set of rooms, and he doubted whoever their neighbors were wouldn't understand. So no biggie there. The blond bounced back over to his bed to start unpacking, managing to pry his belongings out of their tightly-wedged positions. He'd give papa this much, he knew how to pack...

Parker turned his attention back to Sora and smiled, nodding to himself as he let that sink in. Getting away from his parents, that was why he had wanted to come here in the first place wasn't it? It was a great feeling to not have them breathing down his neck constantly, he'd admit to that. "Yeah, yes you're right." He wondered what his older brother would say if he saw him now, Alexander hadn't really liked the idea of going to the dorms even IF it meant freedom from their parents.
He turned back to his own bags and started unpacking. He had a lot of clothes, a few books, and a journal which he immediately covered with more clothes. He started to work on setting the clothes into his dresser, figuring he should try to get to know the younger boy a little more. "So do you have any family in the dorms Sora?" he asked curiously, it seemed like an easy enough question to start out with.

Sora used a foot to try and ease open one of the drawers while his arms were full of shirts. "Yeah, her names Fei Yen, she's really cool. What about you?" Aha! Success! He dumped the shirts into the drawer and began organizing them into some semblance of neatness. "And while we're talking family, how'd your's keep you outta here for so long?"

Parker neatly set his clothes into his dresser and turned back to Sora, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "Well my parents work for the government, they're in really high positions and my mother's actually one of the people that help decide who gets sorted into which clan." That was probably too much information, he remembered mentioning that near a clan kid once and had ended up with a busted lip before Alexander came and stopped the whole thing.
"My whole family, except for an aunt I don't really see, is wealthy so only a few of us are here in the dorms." He knew Sloane was here, and a cousin named Anya that he had only met once. Angel and Winter had mentioned trying to get in, but he didn't know if they really would or not.

A thoughtful sounding 'huh' was all that came from Sora. He... couldn't say that was cool, cuz it kinda wasn't, but at the same time, the clans were less prominent now than say, twenty years ago. So it wasn't so bad... Who knew. "Is it a big family?" He asked, interested. He had lived the first seven years of his life without one, so he was definitely curious about other's families.

Parker nodded quickly, glad that Sora didn't seem to hate him for that bit of info. "Oh yes, we're huge." He stopped to count in his head. "I've got two uncles, and three aunts on my mother's side." His father had been an only child, thank goodness. "Then I have my older brother and about... I think nine cousins altogether?" There were so many that it was hard to keep track of sometimes. He shrugged and smiled. "Needless to say, family reunions are quite interesting." Especially with so many personality clashes.

Sora's jaw dropped, he couldn't help it. How could you have THAT big a family? "Woah..." was all he managed to get out. "Dad's an only child, and Papa's only got one sister..." And if you got into the VERY extended family it was likely more, but just there it was only a few... Gosh, how did Parker have enough space to THINK? Not like they all lived in the same house, but that was a lot of family in the same city...

Parker chuckled quietly. "Then you've got it lucky, small families seem easier to be around in general." He noticed Sora had said he had a 'Dad and Papa', so then... "Um, not to be rude, but did you say you have two fathers?" That was pretty cool, and it made him feel a little more comfortable to be around his roommate knowing that that wasn't a problem for him(at least he would assume it wouldn't if he was raised by two gay men).
