Desiree made her way into the school, and after asking for directions from a woman at the front office, went on her way to the music room.
The calm and nearly professional look on her face wouldn't show it, but she was nervous to finally meet half of the couple her husband had talked about from time to time since they had been together. She had to do it though, not for her sake but for her son's. Daemon was more than a little upset with how he was being treated, and although he wouldn't show it in front of her, she knew. Mother's instinct you could call it, and she wanted to get things settled for him finally.
The brunette arrived at the door of the music room and looked in. There was a brunette man not too far off, and she decided to make herself known instead of waiting. "Are you Mr. King?" She asked calmly, waiting for a response.

Jack glanced up from the paperwork. The high school students had a required essay to finish, and he was helping a few of them with edits on their analyses of their music selections.
That wasn't a student, though that was easy enough to see. "Hello?" He greeted, a brow raised as he stood. "I don't believe we've met before."

Desiree nodded, entering the room and walking to his desk so the distance wouldn't be as awkward. "No, but I know who you are." Before Jack could reply she quickly explained. "My name's Desiree Spiers, I'm Daemon's mother." She took a small breath. "I need to speak with you, and I think you know what about." Along with the thing about Daemon, she had a feeling some questions would be brought up about him and his wive's connection to her husband.

Well, Jack thought as he was put slightly on the defensive, this was lovely. He was a teacher, however, it was his job to keep the students sane. "Daemon." He replied, because if this was going to go how he thought it might, it was going to be best to be straightforward. "Take a seat," He gestured to the chair near the desk as he sat back in his own seat. It wouldn't escalate to a fight, it had been a LONG time since he had been willing to brawl over something.

Desiree glanced down at the chair for a moment before taking a seat, crossing her legs once she did so. She glanced behind her to make sure no one was around to listen to them before turning back to him. She sighed for a moment, deciding not to dance around the topic. "I know about the history you have with my husband, what he did to your wife. And before you get too jumpy, I'm not here for a fight, we both have our reputations to keep up after all."
She glanced down at her hands for a moment. "I want to make this very clear right now:" she looked back up at Jack seriously. "My son is nothing like his father, and I do not appreciate him suffering for something that happened long before he was even born." She didn't raise her voice, but her tone was cold and showed how displeased she was with the situation.

Jack blinked a bit after his initial tensing. "...I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean..." As per usual, Jack's face was an open book, clear in its confusion. He had assumed that Mrs Speirs would be here to talk about Emma, or even bring up past threats... But he hadn't expected this.
He hadn't seen any bullying or maltreatment... Then again, anyone who might want to harm Daemon knew him, and would know how to avoid him... It made a sickening sort of sense.

Desiree sighed. "Of course you don't." She muttered to herself. "I don't know the details, I've just listened to him and my daughter talk about it." She frowned. "He's being treated like some outcast when he's been nothing but nice to your children. Now I know my son and he wouldn't hurt a fly, and I'm not asking you to make your kids welcome him with open arms." Another sigh. "He's the only normal one in the family, I don't want him getting hurt for something that's not his fault."

Jack folded his arms on the desk in front of him, "The way I had heard it was that Emma was uncomfortable around a strange boy, Tyler probably picked up on that..." He sighed. "Which would explain why he'd been ostracized..." Up until recently, when he and Hotaru had told the twins about what had happened between the Speirs family and the King clan.
But he knew his kids, he knew they wouldn't let it get violent. "I'll talk to them about giving him a chance, but that might be more difficult now..." He was frowning, the timing was NOT pleasant... "Hotaru and I, when we heard about Daemon hanging around Emma and the twins being uncomfortable with it, we thought it might be best to let them know what happened..."
He knew that Mrs Speirs knew what he meant, she had brought it up herself earlier in passing. "I didn't do it to harm Daemon's chances, but we thought... there might have been risk, you understand?"

Desiree shrugged a little. "So what if he has a little crush on her? Teenagers have these phases all the time, I'm sure you've been there." She certainly had. "But yes, I do understand your concern."
She fiddled with her thumbs, trying to find a way to word things. "I made Archer promise he wouldn't get involved, and trust me I'll keep him on a tight leash. But our son, he doesn't mean any harm, he just wants a chance.
"Now... The other reason I came." She paused, feeling terrible for bringing this up. "According to Archer, we met just a couple of weeks after your last... meeting shall we say." She frowned. "He, uh, kept tabs on you and your wife for a little while afterwards. Point is, we know about Hotaru's repressed memories. If you're curious about what happened to her, he's told me everything." They had a right to know, but only if they really wanted to. She just wanted to do what she could to make things right.

Jack nearly snapped his pen in half in surprise... They... knew... they had kept TABS? And... and Desiree, she KNEW what her husband had done and STUCK AROUND? Jack felt he would have been well within his rights to snap a pen in half...
But right now he needed to keep his cool. If he knew... if he knew ANYTHING more than what he did now about what had happened to Hotaru... That was a miracle in itself...
"What did he do to her?" Jack's voice was quiet but surprisingly level. He had a tight reign on his anger, it was the surest sign of it.

Desiree noticed the quick change in Jack's attitude, she had been expecting it really. It made her feel terrible, but she continued anyway. "Archer used fire to brainwash her." Her voice was calm, nearly emotionless even, as she explained.
"That... that 'family' they had made, she believed it for a while, and from how he made it sound, he was actually starting to fall for the version of Hotaru he created." There was a slight uneasiness in her voice at that, but it went away as quickly as it had appeared. "But she started having dreams of you and your friends, asking him who you were and all." A sigh. "Eventually something had triggered ALL of her memories to hit her at once, and she went mad from it." She didn't want to say WHAT had triggered it, while she had appreciated Archer's honesty to her that was something she would have rather not known.
"Apparently she even tried cutting off her own hair, my guess is the color reminded her of the fire. So, Archer kept her bound and drugged so she wouldn't try doing anything to them or herself." She closed her eyes for a moment, looking back at Jack as she opened them. "And you know the rest from there."

Jack set down the pen as Desiree began to talk and was within seconds grateful he did. There was no way he would have avoided snapping it if he hadn't. Jack was quiet as he processed the information, though his shoulders gave minute trembles of rage at the thought...
At the thought that he hadn't managed to keep her away from that. At the thought that Hotaru had had to go THROUGH that...
He couldn't let it happen to Emma... he COULDN'T.

Desiree was silent, letting Jack process everything for a moment or two before speaking again, this time there was sincerity in her voice. "I know there's nothing I can do to make up for what he did, but I'm very sorry for what you and your family have gone through because of him." She frowned a little. "But please, don't let my son suffer for any of that. Daemon's never wanted any part of the family business, and honestly I don't think him and Archer have TRULY gotten along since he was a kid." Artemis on the other hand... well she was her Daddy's daughter alright.

Jack let out a breath as he made a resolution to tell Ruru about what he had learned. He turned his attention back to the matter at hand and gave a small nod. "If I see anything I'll step in, and I'll talk to Emma and Tyler to see if they'll give him a chance... but I won't force them into befriending him." Those sort of situations never ended pleasantly.
"What about Artemis?" He asked, though he knew the answer wouldn't be nearly so optimistic as it was for Daemon. Artemis... was something else. There was something WRONG with that girl. SHE certainly took after her father...

Desiree nodded her head, a small but grateful smile on her lips. "That's all I ask, and I appreciate it."
She sighed and sat up a little straighter at the mention of her daughter. "Artemis... Definitely takes after her father, your children would be right to stay away from her." She frowned. "Though, a lot of that has to do with how young they were when they were exposed to everything. Daemon was ten, she was just eight, if they were going to be exposed to this I would rather it of been when they were older." She clenched her hands tighter, but held herself together pretty well otherwise. "But I couldn't talk Archer out of it, something about how young he was when he started." It was one of the few things they argued about.
