He's in a hospital, white and cold and sterile, the smell of chemicals and death and blood tinges the air. It's nearly silent in the huge hallway, save for the faint echos of screaming coming from further down. He doesn't want to follow the noise, there's something terrible and awful down there and he knows it he just knows it's no good and he wants to run run RUN the other way he doesn't want to see her die again
but the floor moves and he's there and there's a blond man yelling and a little boy crying and he wants to go towards them because ANYTHING is better than what's behind the door. He doesn't know how he knows but he's so certain that the knowledge hurts, it hurts worse than knowing that he DOESN'T KNOW.
But his feet move. Or maybe the floor does, and his vision is filled with red and yelling, the squeals of monitors as something goes horribly wrong, as if his presence summoned the cacophony of terror. The woman's screams that led him here taper of with a sickening NOISE, one he doesn't posess the words to describe but make him want to cry and vomit and hide all at once because he CAN'T FIGHT it and everything is crashing and breaking around him--
Aiden wakes up with a jolt and a yelp in his room in the Ookami barracks, and never before in his short span of memory has he felt so completely terrified.

Matsuda jerked awake himself from hearing his roommate holler. "Aiden?!" He called, near panicked as he kicked his covers off and ran to the brunette's side. He pulled the younger(yet taller) man close to him on instinct and began to softly shush him. Damn, the nightmares he was getting lately were getting worse, the blond could just tell by the way Aiden would wake up from them. "Just breathe, you're alright now..."

Aiden clung to the elder Ookami as Matsuda began trying to quiet and calm him down. Was Matsuda shaking? No... no that was him... he was shaking like a leaf in the aftermath of the nightmare, head tucked under Matsuda's chin as he tried to get his breathing to even out from the shallow drags of air.
The dark-haired ookami shuddered in Matsuda's hold, trying to relax in the other's hold. The nightmares were DEFINITELY getting worse, and he could never remember anything from them other than screaming and a fear that lanced down to the very core of his being. A fear that never seemed to fail to stay with him upon waking up. So far only Matsuda had been able to calm him down after them, but even then it was taking longer and longer.

Matsuda ran his hand through Aiden's hair and began to hum a little tune to help calm him, lately it was getting harder and harder to do so and made the blonde worry more. He wished there was some way he could REALLY help, to do away with the nightmares altogether. Unfortunately there was no real way of doing so, and for the moment this was all he could do...

The breaths, which had been coming in half-choked little bursts as the younger man worked to restrain tears that he knew would try to come, began to start evening out. Focus on the song. He reminded himself, trying to keep his mind on the steady sound of Matsuda's humming and the stroking of his hair. Sure enough, it helped, just as it had for the past few times this had occurred.
The nightmares had been going on since he first woke up in the hospital, he knew that much, but they were getting more and more intense...
He eventually managed to stop shaking, breaths evening out as he rested curled up against Matsuda. Safe. This felt safe and warm and good.

Matsuda smiled a little when he felt Aiden's shaking stop, that was a good sign. He kept humming a little longer since he knew it was helping. Slowly he faded it out before he could talk to him, smiling a little more to help comfort him. "Wanna talk about it?" He asked him gently.

Aiden wanted to laugh, but couldn't really manage it so he just frowned a bit instead. "What about? It's the same as always..." He was getting so little sleep from this mess that he was surprised he hadn't started just passing out in the middle of the day. Trying to function was becoming difficult, let alone trying to remember minute details...

Matsuda chuckled lightly. "Yeah, guess that's true..." He paused for a moment then kissed the top of his head. "So, that said, what can I do to help you?" Even if it meant something as little as just sitting there with him for a while. If he could do anything to help Aiden, then dammit he would do it.

Aiden didn't really need to think, he just let his body go limp, the deadweight forcing Matsuda to lie down on the bunk with him. It wasn't particularly big, and would be a bit of a squeeze trying to fit, but it was better than sleeping alone only to wake up again. "Stay." He replied, eyes shutting as his head settled into the crook of Matsuda's neck, arms around the other man's middle.

The blond Ookami smiled and blushed just a little as he laid down with Aiden. It was sort of odd, having the taller man snuggled to him the way he was, it almost felt like it should have been the other way around. He didn't mind it though, he enjoyed it actually. It was nice to feel needed, he thought as he started to close his eyes with the brunette in his arms. "I'm always gonna be there for you, got it?" Aiden couldn't see the smile that was on Matsuda's face, but the sincerity in his voice should have been assuring enough.

Aiden, too tired to form enough real words to acknowledge he had heard just nuzzled into Matsu's neck, planted a sleepy kiss there with a tired "Mhm..." and relaxed in his arms to sleep. He was safe, he was warm, and Matsuda had promised he'd be there. That was enough for him.
The sleep, this time, was dreamless.

(Timeskip!!!)
Oh no... Oh no this COULDN'T be happening!! He had only gone to check up on his mom and now he was back in the hospital from ANOTHER fight with his dad. Where he was at wasn't a shock, but the damage done was making the blonde panic. His EYE, his fucking EYE was GONE. Against the nurse's wishes, the normally calm blonde was digging his fingers into the bandage that was taped over his right eye.
Had he been thinking about it, he would have tried planning out what to say to Aiden when he showed up. God knew that THAT was gonna be an awful conversation.

Aiden's cell phone never went off without good reason, it was one of the few reasons he kept it perpetually powered on. If anyone called, it was for something important and usually only had to do with his small group of friends.
So when the caller ID had been from Hatsu Itonami Memorial, instead of Matsuda or even Eva, he was understandably confused and understandably anxious. A feeling that multiplied and bred into mortification and ANGER as the call finished and he rushed over.
It HAD been Matsuda, or at least ABOUT him. Whoever had taken out the blond's eye was going to pay as soon as Aiden made sure that he was safe.
It didn't take too long from the call to get over there, less time than that to locate the room and barge on in. He knew hospitals and how they worked, and he knew that as bad as matsu had it he wouldn't be watched by a nurse.
He stormed over, a maelstrom of fury and, if one were to look close enough, terror. Because someone had hurt Matsuda. Someone had hurt Matsuda, and if he had it his way then whoever it was would be drowning in a pool of their own blood soon.
Aiden KNEW he wouldn't get to have it his way, though. He knew Matsuda wouldn't like it if he did.
He stopped at Matsu's bedside, hand grabbing the other man's wrist so he could pull the hand away and inspect the damage himself. "Who did this?" His voice was low, nearly a growl and filled with murderous intent. Memories or no, Aiden knew that he was dangerous when he wanted to be (and sometimes, when he was able to think and try and remember, he had the feeling it was when he DIDN'T want to be, too).

Matsuda hadn't even registered Aiden at all until he grabbed his wrist. The blond panicked and shook his head a little. "I- I was checking on m-my mom, and my dad was there." He looked down, using the only eye he had left to use. "Last thing I remember was a beer bottle smashing into my face, I guess the glass got into my eye.." There were scattered scratches and cut marks all over his face from the shattered glass to prove it.
He didn't like admitting he was scared. People looked up to him, he couldn't have them seeing him like this. The best he could do was just to shove it off as nothing. "Aiden... Don't worry about it..." He muttered, still looking away from the brunette.

Aiden's fingers brushed over the bandage, hold tightening on Matsuda's wrist. Not enough to hurt, he hoped, but then again he wasn't entirely sure what his hands were even doing. His mind was elsewhere.
he hurt him he hurt him he hurt matsu hurt him back make him pay spill his blood kill him kill him KILL HIM KILL HI
"'Don't WORRY about it?'" He managed to hiss back, dropping Matsuda's wrist. "He took out your EYE, Matsu!" His teeth ground together as he cut off the thoughts of murder. Matsu wouldn't like that. Murder was out... but maybe he could just kick the shit out of his dad... He'd just have to find out where the guy WAS...
