Rusty practically sprinted to the cafeteria once the bell rang for lunch. It was Salisbury steak day and while the school didn't exactly have a gourmet menu, he had to admit that that was one of the few things they had actually done right around there.
As usual the hyper active football player was one of the first to get in line as he grabbed his tray and gathered his food. Once he got his meal together and out of line, he looked around for his usual spot, but noticed that the rest of the team wasn't sitting there that day. That was... odd, very odd, but he shrugged it off for the time being and sat down at the nearest seat available. He was wasting precious moments with his food here, he'd worry about where the team was later.

Ryland glanced up from his notes when the sensed the mystery person sitting down across from him. A trouble-maker the Ookami may have been, but his parents put a good deal of pressure on him grade-wise, so he did study on occasion (i.e. the rare times he actually needed SOMEWHAT of a review). And, seeing as Aaron was occupied elsewhere, he really had nothing better to do. Ryland wasn't as social able as his twin, so talking with random strangers just for the sake of having something to do really wasn't his style.
That being said, he wasn't so socially awkward that he would completely ignore a person sitting right across from him. Ryland knew Rusty a bit. Not as well as some, but the guy was kind of hard not to notice. One of those popular jock types, or so he had always assumed. The whole social upper class of the school was still a little muddled to him.
"Where'd the rest of your pals run off to?" the ginger Ookami asked, a tad too bluntly.

Rusty looked up from his food after a couple of bites and shrugged. "That's a pretty good question, isn't it?" He asked, accent(though not as thick as his father's) ringing clear in his voice. "Somethin' tells me they just went into the athletic hall or something like that, they do it every now and then I think."
He took a few more bites of his food and washed it down with the energy drink he had and looked back at the ginger. He certainly looked familiar, he knew they had a class or two together. "You're Ryland, right?" he asked, only slightly hesitant because he didn't want to get his name wrong. "Don't we have a few classes together...?"

"Indeed we do." Ryland leaned back in his seat and crossed his arms. "You may remember me as part of the dazzling duo that liberated all of the biology teacher's frogs by releasing them into the hallway and set off rainbow smoke bombs in the fourth floor hallway." The Ookami smirked. Ah, memories.

Rusty's eyes grew wide and he suddenly burst into a fit of laughter. "Oh that WAS you, wasn't it?" he chuckled. That was right, he was one of those ginger twins, how could he forget that? "I'm sure a fan of your work, my folks would kill me if I tried pulling somethin' like that." He loved his mom and dad, but damn could they be strict when he slipped up! All those spankings from his dad when he was a kid... those were NOT memories he liked to relive.

That comment sobered Ryland up a tad. "Yeah... we try not to let them find out." His mother could be downright terrifying when she was mad. While not exactly abusive, she wasn't opposed to smacking her sons upside the head or scaring the shit out of them when they screwed up. Even remembering it was enough to make the Ookami shudder.

Rusty grinned. "Haha, so I'm not the only one with scary parents, huh?" he snickered to himself and finished off his food, pushing his tray aside. They really should give them more food than THAT, it never seemed to fill him. "Love 'em to death, but my dad," he shudder a little. "Let's just say I learned the hard way that he's got a stronger arm than me for sure." And that was saying something, Rusty had quite a bit of muscle on him.

"My family is completely the opposite. My dad is really mellow, but my mom..." Ryland laughed awkwardly. "I'm pretty sure she'd have thrown Aaron and I out a window at some point if it wasn't considered child abuse." It was a bit of an exaggeration, but Ryland's rationality went on temporary leave when his mom got angry. "But as long as we get good grades she usually stays pretty calm."

"Oh, that's right," the tan Ookami started. "Two of you are like geniuses or something, huh?" Rusty shrugged and grinned. "I'm no A student, but I keep my grades good enough to where I can still play." If there was anyone else OTHER than his father he was scared of, it would be his coach. He did not want those penalty work outs, not at all.

"Yeah well when your mom became a successful doctor before she was in her twenties, everyone kind of expects you to be smart." His dad, on the other hand, had spent the majority of his life as a bartender with minimal education. However, he had fantastic people skills, which kept him relatively successful. "My parents are big on the whole hard work and perseverance thing."

Rusty whistled a little and chuckled. "Alright, I guess that makes sense." He took a drink of his energy drink and looked back at Ryland. "But, your mom's not a teacher here, at least you get freedom here at school from your folks." Seriously, if it weren't for him having to live in the dorms, Rusty would never get time away from his parents. Well, the upside was that he didn't have his mother as a teacher, some weird rule the school has to keep parents from treating their children different from the rest of the class or something. Otherwise English would have been hell for him.

"Eh, I guess that's true." Ryland couldn't imagine getting away with half of what he and Aaron did at school if his parent's were faculty members. No amount of sneaky cover-ups on Mai's part could save the twins in that case.

Rusty shrugged and finished off his drink. "Yeah, but I don't run into her all that much here anyways, so that's something I guess." He knew which routes to take to which class in order to avoid seeing his mother during school, along with the embarrassment of making sure his hair still looked clean and his clothes weren't wrinkled. Oh, the joys of an OCD mother. He honestly didn't see how his dad put up with it sometimes, the guy was raised on a RANCH for goodess sake!

"Fair enough." Ryland closed his notebook and pushed it aside. He probably wasn't goig to do any more studying this period, which was all fine and good to him. It wasn't as if Ryland actually liked studying. Far from it. "Seems like a couple kids have parents who work in the building, now that I think about it."

"Well, I guess stuff like that's bound to happen when the entire family's not allowed to leave town." Rusty said as he looked around. He sighed, looks like he wasn't going to see his team during lunch today, it was a little irritating. He looked back at Ryland with a curious look. "Who else has family that works here?" It was a reasonable question he thought, he wasn't too familiar with many people outside of the athletes.
