Rebecca walked down the halls of the so dubbed "Mixed Dorms," a slip of paper in her hand listing her room and floor number. She was supposedly going to find out her roommate upon arrival... She scowled at the thought. Why a roommate? The thought of having to put up with someone whenever she actually came by to sleep was both irritating and a little unnerving.
She didn't get friendly easily, she knew that much. Hell, she had tried to put in a request to room with Kaz as a matter of 'family importance' but no one had bought it and she had been shunted to the girls' dorms. She shifted the duffel bag over her shoulder as she expertly dodged the weaving gray-blue body of a cat.
At least Pester would be familiar company, she mused as she finally opened up the door to the room.
Thankfully, it looked empty... Either her roommate didn't have much, or hadn't arrived yet. With luck, maybe she would get hit by a car on the way over... The thought brought a twisted little smile onto her face, though it vanished a mere second later. Becca dumped her duffel on the bed farthest from the hall and started to unpack as Pester darted around.

Mai half-walked, half-skipped down the hallway towards her new room for the year. Ryland had decided to tag along for the small venture but, for once, his look-alike was nowhere to be found. Apparently Aaron was book for the day; which, in Mai's opinion, was total lamesauce.
"I hope I get a nice roommate this time~!" Mai had been chattering on like this for upwards of fifteen minutes, and Ryland had eventually abandoned intelligent responses in favor of "mmhmms" and polite nods. "The last one didn't like me a lot. And I think she stole my snacks. I mean, I'm fine with sharing, but come on. Ask first."
Ryland cleared his throat to make space in his sister's monologue for a necessary interjection. "I think this is your room, kiddo." Mai blinked at look over at the room number.
"So it is! Look at you Ryland! So observant!" She opened the door without even thinking to knock, leaving her big brother (arms full of his little sister's stuff) to follow her inside. "Hello~!" The dark haired Ookami chimed upon seeing a girl unpacking. "Looks like ya beat me here, roomie!"

Becca's ears tuned in to the muffled footsteps and kept track of the movement as she unpacked. From the sound, it was a chatty girl and a very patient someone else... She plucked pester off of the bed and deposited him back on the floor, silently hoping that the voice would just pass. She would give ANYTHING to just have a quiet roommate...
The hopes were dashed as the door was flung open, Pester streaking towards the new arrivals in an attempt at greeting. Becca looked over and scowled. "Oh. GREAT." She said dryly to the girl before shooting a glare at the cat now weaving around their feet. Her entire look radiated 'you're a TRAITOR, cat!' and it seemed by Pester's continued nuzzling that he didn't really care.
Or perhaps he knew he was one of the only creatures that would never be drop-kicked by the russet-haired teen with any TRUE malice...

Ryland shuffled into the room rather awkwardly, keeping to himself as he dropped all of Mai's crap on the nearest table (and tried not to step in the cat). He was doing a much better job of picking up on the waves of hostility coming from the mystery girl than his sister was. The elder Edeson had kinda hoping that Mai might actually get along with her roommate this thing around, but the odds weren't looking too good. The other Ookami, meanwhile, remained oblivious.
"Kitty!" she exclaimed, bending down to scratch the furry critter behind the ears. "Aw, what a cutie! You're so lucky. I wish I had a cat." She glanced over when Ryland started rummaging through her things and quickly darted over to snatch her camera out of his hands. "Be careful with my baby!" The dark-haired teen chided. "Seriously. I saved up forever to buy this thing."

Yeah, an extra mouth to feed? Lucky isn't exactly how Becca would have described her attachment to Pester to any of the general public. "I'm not, actually." She turned her attention back to her bag, toeing open a chest of drawers to put her few clothes into.
Pester purred at the attention and bounded over to Becca to curl up on one of her shirts on the bed when it finished. The young woman turned back towards her new roommate. "Keep your stuff on your side of the room and don't bother me." Was all she said. No greeting or introduction, what good was it? It wasn't like she wanted to be friends.

"Okay then! As long as no one touches my snacks, I'm a happy camper!" Upon mentioning this, Mai promptly unearthed an armful of Pocky boxes and snack cakes, which she proceed to stuff under her bed. "Just stocking up in case of the apocalypse." The Ookami then returned to putting away the rest of her belongings, most of which amounted to colorful vintage sweaters, photography equipment, and a giant poster of a group of very attractive-looking anime boys. "Reunited at last," she chimed, smoothing her hand over the tallest boy's face. Ryland smacked his forehead with a groan. Why was his sister so weird?

Becca sent the boy a look, silently wondering if his sister (because they LOOKED similar enough for there to be a familial relation) was always like this. Because if she was, it was going to be one hell of a long year. Maybe she could request a transfer...
Pester, on the other hand, seemed to take no notice of his human's frustration and instead was currently staring at the open door, tail twitching. With little to no warning, he let out a 'Mrow!!' of a battle cry and bolted out of the open door.
The ratty-haired teen tensed then darted out after him. "Pester, you little shit!!" She called out as she gave chase. Hopefully someone might open a door and STOP him...

"Ry! Watch my shit!" Mai hopped down from her perch and darted towards the door. "I'm going after the cat!" She sprinted down the hallway after the runaway cat, not even bothering to wonder if her roommate even wanted her help in the first place.

Pester was a streak of bluish fur as he pelted down the halls, the two roommates in pursuit. Rebecca was keeping good pace, but one of the reason she had never gotten RID of Pester was because of his speed, and USUALLY his loyalty. But apparently staying in one spot was a LITTLE too hard for the damn cat!
She skidded around a corner to continue the chase, hoping that no one would catch them as they ran through the halls. Just because no one had called her out on bringing in a cat didn't mean that they were allowed. Not that that mattered in the end, but she didn't need ANOTHER idiot of an administrator to deal with...

Mai whipped around the corner a bit too quickly. She stumbled and, unable to steady her footing, ended up crashing into the girl running in front of her. "Ow," the Ookami groaned. "Sorry about that."

Becca scowled and shoved the other girl off roughly, intent on getting her cat back. She stood up again and darted where she had seen Pester run, but with that fall it was impossible to know exactly which way the cat had gone...
Meanwhile, a small boy with goggles and dark hair blinked as he saw Pester. That was odd, the cat usually didn't go far from Becca, the boy thought to himself. He picked up the cat and started walking where he had seen him come from, wherever Pester was, his sister couldn't be far...

"Um, ouch." Mai pushed herself upright with a slightly annoyed expression. "'scuse you," she muttered. Not to be a bitch, but this chick was just plain rude. She had only been trying to help.

Becca skidded to a halt yet again as a small figure appeared in front of her. "Jesus, Kaz..." She ground out after she regained her breath. "Try making SOME noise, why don't you..." She simply got a smile in return.
Pester wriggled happily in the boy's arms, purring simply by being in his presence. Kaz tilted his head to look around Rebecca and to the girl behind her. He sent his adoptive elder sibling a curious look.
"Just my roommate, not important." She replied to the silent query. Over the years, Becca had become very fluent in Kaz's many 'Looks.' She was given a slightly more irritated look in return. "Well what? She isn't." It was as close to a fact as any other truth the trenchcoated young woman would admit to.
Kaz rolled his eyes and walked around Rebecca to meet the other girl, Pester still in his arms.

Mai came to a gradual half when she noticed the new boy walking towards her. "Hi there!" she chimed, back to her usual, cheery self. "I'm Mai. Nice to meetcha!" She thought to go for a handshake, but realized that probably wouldn't work out while he was holding the cat. Instead the Ookami just smiled.

Aaron had found himself at this inter-mixed school, attempting to look for his other siblings. It was true that he had several things to take care of, such as visiting his mother, who was all too excited to see him, although disappointed that his other two siblings were not with him. They chatted for awhile about school, his mother making sure that he was as healthy as any one human could be, (the benefit of having a mother for a doctor) as his father attempted to calm his wife down so that Aaron could actually get a word in before her rambling went to the overload setting.
She then continually asked him if he was sure that he (and his other siblings) were still okay with living away from home, to which he answered promptly that, yes they were going to be just fine. Aaron said his goodbyes to his mother and shook hands with his father. He loved his parents, and missed them occasionally, although he would never admit it.
Aaron wandered around the school, knowing that Mai was probably causing trouble and Ryland didn't have the heart to stop her, so he called his good for nothing twin to come meet him outside the doors of the dorm. The phone rang on the other line, Ryland apparently picked up the phone and before he could say anything Aaron said, "Hey Bro, meet me at the entrance to the dorms, I'm dying of boredom here!" And promptly hung up. It was just the way he was.
Aaron leaned against the brick wall of the school, watching the blue sky, lost in his own thoughts as he waited for his twin to show up, and even maybe his sister too.
